Yes. But it won't happen. Seems like institutional level problems to me.

The Solid Verbal has a podcast out called How Recruiting Works. It's pretty interesting. Talks to some recruiting experts, parents, players, etc. It's well done and talks about how negative recruiting works, how the offer process works, how officials work, etc.

So Dan Rubenstein was laid off yesterday. Ryan Nanni may have been as well.

Don't get into sports media kids. When some of the most popular people on a platform can get laid off nobody is safe.

I knew it was some people at SB Nation but thought it was all behind the scenes people. Not that it makes it any better. Damn, it true that sucks.

Don't get into internet media in general. It's a bloodbath right now. The vox layoffs are connected to a much larger issue: Facebook promised everyone that sharing and hosting content through facebook would result in higher ad revenue but it did the exact opposite. Everyone in media kinda knew this was going to happen but kept buying into more BS that Facebook would do something. Turns out Facebook was really just buying a lot of bot traffic, inflating their numbers, and "accidentally" fucking up elections.

I work in digital media and the attitudes towards FB right now are downright hostile. Websites are going to be shutting down left and right soon.

In many ways, it's a lot like the real estate crisis. The internet grew too fast and advertisers were unregulated, so content built itself around a really unstable cash flow. So many websites made money through shady means. As a result, the advertising wasn't actually effective and only just now are a lot of major companies waking up to this and pulling digital spend. It's a crunch all around. I'll honestly be lucky to keep my job.

The Fullcast is legitimately one of the few bright spots of my week. I'll take it at any audio quality.

Fucking Facebook

Bring Back the Shutdown Fullback dammit (yes, younger viewers, Fullback, not Fullcast)

-------
https://www.rollbamaroll.com/2018/2...oin-alabama-tide-football-coaching-staff-2018

Adds Dan Enos and Craig Kuligowski

ON-FIELD

Michael Locksley Offensive Coordinator
Tosh Lupoi Defensive Coordinator/Outside Linebackers
Jeff Banks Special Teams Coordinator/Tight Ends
Dan Enos Associate Head Coach/Quarterbacks
Josh Gattis Co-Offensive Coordinator/Wide Receivers
Pete Golding Co-Defensive Coordinator/Inside Linebackers
Brent Key Offensive Line
Craig Kuligowski Associate Head Coach/Defensive Line
Joe Pannunzio Running Backs
Karl Scott Defensive Backs

which means...Burton Burns is no longer the on field RB coach. He's moved to Assistant Athletics Director, Football.

I mean, he's only been the RB coach for every RB at Alabama under Saban.

Your constant plugging of the old videos years back is what introduced me to SBNation in the first place. Sadly it seems they're moving even further away from videos. I was terrified that Spencer was one of the lost, since he wasn't on the last episode that dropped.

I've actually gone back and watched a random video or 2. Production value was decent for what they were doing. They got help from Adult Swim, if I remember correctly.

welp.

IT BEGINS

https://sports.yahoo.com/exclusive-...g-high-profile-players-schools-103338484.html

There's potential impermissible benefits and preferential treatment for players and families of players at Duke, North Carolina, Texas, Kentucky, Michigan State, USC, Alabama and a host of other schools.

  • Dennis Smith, who would go on to play at North Carolina State in 2016-17, received $43,500 according to the documents. Another document headed "Pina," for ASM agent Stephen Pina, says Smith received a total of $73,500 in loans, and includes notes about "options to recoup the money" when Smith did not sign with ASM.
  • Isaiah Whitehead, at the time a freshman at Seton Hall, received $26,136 according to the documents. The "Pina" document says Whitehead received $37,657 and was "setting up payment plan." Whitehead signed with ASM but later left the agency for Roc Nation.
  • Tim Quarterman, at the time a junior at LSU, received at least $16,000 according to the balance sheet.
  • Diamond Stone, at the time a freshman at Maryland, received $14,303 according to the documents.
  • A listing that refers to "BAM" for $12,000 is later identified in the documents as Edrice "Bam" Adebayo, who would go on to play at Kentucky in 2016-17. He did not sign with ASM. There's a later reference to Adebayo that says he received $36,500. "Bad loan," reads the document.
  • Markelle Fultz, who would go on to play at Washington and become the No. 1 pick in the 2017 draft, received $10,000 according to the documents. He did not sign with ASM.

I think Buckeye fans are probably more upset about Drevno leaving than Michigan fans. The offense was not good under him and can only (hopefully) get better. Man, last year's offense was so bad...
