I was busy making Thai curry from a recipe that I got from GAF when it was down over the weekend, and just made me realize that I went to GAF for just about everything, even pressure cooker recipes. It was a weird moment that highlighted how frequently I was online, but hey, they were good recipes, so let's keep the train going here with your favorite dishes.

http://www.justonecookbook.com/pressure-cooker-oxtail-soup/

Probably the best thing I've made using my Instant Pot. The Amish butchers at Reading Terminal Market in Philly have huge, meaty pieces of oxtail that make this so, so good every time. Admittedly a bit of a hassle to prepare, though.

Very simple recipe without a whole lot of prep. I also think kombucha squash is in season now...?

The dry heat from the adobo sauce and chiles is fantastic.

To accompany your LTTP anime threads. I'd also recommend looking here (https://kotaku.com/how-to-make-japanese-curry-bricks-taste-better-1793686115) for ideas on stuff to add after it's done cooking.

PS
Is there a search function yet? I'm not seeing one on mobile. Also the serif font in the compose box is out of place when everything else is sans serif and modern.

From 'quake area to big OH.
We have been using it alot this last couple weeks with a baby.

Sautee chicken breasts
Add some kind of sauce like butter or orange chicken, kung pao etc
Simmer with corn starch
Serve over rice

Easy and tasty.

I love the IP, but I'm having a hard time using the slow cook function because temperature settings differ from traditional slow cooker settings. Low is too low, normal is hotter than low, and high is... well i'm scared to use it. Lol.

Here's my fav and easy chili recipe which i am able to make in IP using the slow cook setting:
http://amp.timeinc.net/myrecipes/recipe/easy-chili?source=dam

Cook on Slow Cook, Normal Setting for 6 hours.

Soft fingers, I need you to post some of those good recipes you have.

So I was gifted the 6 quart one. Should I upgrade to the 8 quart one?

First thread that I have started watching. Got my InstaPot on Black Friday because of Community recommendations and have not looked back.

I need to get around to experimenting with mine. I've had it for nearly a year but have yet to try it out. Definitely going to watch this thread for ideas!

I haven't tried that specific recipe but I will vouch for the IP working great for carnitas. That used to be a weekend thing for me, but now it's easy to do on a weeknight. Roughly 90 minutes start to finish is really nice.

awesome thread. I've had mine for a couple years but only really made simple stuff - baked potatoes, shredded chicken. Gonna have to try some of this stuff for sure.

I think the 6 quart one is plenty, unless you cook for a lot of people regularly.

The 6 quart one can easily make meals for 4 people with leftovers to spare.

What's the best way to use the instant pot as a steamer? I'm guessing I need to buy some additional accessories.

Is there any good resource for stuff I could make with one of these? Got one on the way and I'm excited to start eating less microwaved stuff, but I'm finding it hard to find some nice simple recipes for this particular sort of rice cooker (without saute & simmer and all the other fancy stuff the Instant Pot can do).

its worth noting that you can do simple things too
Im doing this all off the cuff, but Im pretty sure this is right
I cook with the instant pot every weekend (meal prepper)
At this point I just eyeball everything so Im bad with receipes, but here goes

*always spray with non-stick spray 1st*

Craft Mac N Cheese
2 cups water for every 1 box
Time: 3 minutes
best ever

Spaghetti & meat
1 lb g beef (browned)
1 24 oz jar of sauce
1 24 oz of water (just fill the sauce jar back up)
Time: Manual 8 minutes
6 good sized portions

ANY hamburger helper
1lb g beef per box (browned)
(Follow water instructions on box)
Time: Manual 4 minutes
!! If you put MILK in there (for hamburger helper) DO NOT use the QUICK RELEASE !!!
that shit will get everywhere, just do the natural release if you use milk

Taco Chicken
buy raw chicken breasts at walmart, cut all the fat and shit off of them, seperate breast from tender, filet breasts (so everything is more or less even)
toss a 2-4 Fajita seasoning packets in there, 2 cups water
Time: Thawed = 7 minutes, Frozen = 10

MASHED SWEET POTATO!!!!!!!!
Peel a shit load of sweet potato
cut them into 1/2 or 1/4
2 cups water
Manual: 7-10 minutes
put in mixer, dump 6-10 lbs of brown sugar and butter, spin cycle, enjoy

wow that got sloppy at the end, but take the spirit of my post and go make some great tasting cheap food!

For those classy individuals who eat Skyline
Do... 1 lb of noodles, 2 cans of skyline, maybe 1-2 can of water, set to 5 minutes, best Skyline ever (the noodles soak in the flavor)

Texas
I got one last sale, and made some excellent chicken broth for pulled pork green chili stew in it. Trying to think of other recipes to use it on, so thanks for reviving the thread.

Super easy chicken tacos. Toss 2 or 3 frozen chicken breasts in, 1/2 cup water, 1 cup salsa, set for 12 minutes. Great for a lazy man like me.

I've been looking for a pho recipe but this just seems like so much work :(
I've made pho with the instant pot before too, but I based it on this recipe: http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2015/01/30-minute-pressure-cooker-pho-ga-recipe.html

Main differences are that I used ox tail for the meat/bone bit, added salt (I don't know why this recipe didn't mention salt at all), and boiled some beef slices in the soup afterwards.

It still is a decent amount of work (takes me about an hour, with pot cooking time included) and takes a lot of miscellaneous spices that I don't know how to use outside of pho, but it's still easier than making pho broth normally. And it tastes great.
So for someone that finds cooking a pain. How much would I love a instant pot?
It's great for that because it lets you ignore a lot of the things that you'd normally need to worry about with normal cooking. If you make food in an instant pot, you don't really need to worry about things like the pot boiling over, burning anything, or undercooking things because the pot is super thorough.

For example, I'm pretty clueless when cooking chicken because I'm not sure when it's considered done, but with the instant pot I just throw in the chicken, add whatever seasoning I want, then press the poultry button on the pot.

With the instant pot, you throw in ingredients, set it to cook, leave, and edible food comes out. I typically don't make complete meals in the pot, but I usually make the hardest part of the meal in it, like a stew or something. Then I supplement it with something simpler, like rice made in a rice cooker.

I was all over the uhh... other thread. Everything that Serious Eats lists are great recipes.
Definitely pick up an Instant Pot the next time they go on sale.

Hip Pressure Cooking has a great guide for cooking all varieties of meats: https://www.hippressurecooking.com/

Dad Cooks Dinner has a ton of great, easy recipes. https://www.dadcooksdinner.com/pressure-cooker-recipe-index/

Something I always recommend: Get extra sealing rings! https://store.instantpot.com/collections/parts/sealing-rings

So far I've made Minnestrone soup and Beef stroganoff. Both came out delicious and it cooked so quick. I'm used to slow cookers, and this thing does in 15 minutes what would take a slow cooker to do all day.

I purchased an Instant Pot recently and I was surprised by just how kind of life-changing it was.
