Anyone notice how the music playing during the party scenes was a rendition of the classic Wolfenstein 3D song? Great work there, knew it sounded familiar.

This vs this

(Light spoilers in the video, just some character interaction stuff)

Has anyone been unable to exit the first submarine hub level while on PC? I've just met all the characters after the escape, and I have to press E to enter Wyatt's room. When I do so, the game just freezes and I can't progress. :(

Yeah, I had this a few times. I just verified my steam files integrity and it worked after that

Finish the game. Loved it. Wanted 10 more hours of single player but oh well.

My question (not sure if this is a spoiler or not but I'll hide it to be safe)

finished it. the biggest gaming disappointment in the last 10 years for me.
the new order was (and still is, having replayed it a few weeks ago) one of the best single player shooter of all time to me. new colossus is a step back in every single department, its almost impressive how they managed that.

-level design is terrible. its either just corridors with re-used assets over and over and over again, or its open, empty areas that feel like they were randomly generated. there is no real sense of progression, no flow, no (real) secrets, the alternate paths are a joke (if they exist at all) and you are either in bunkers. tunnels or a random base.
- difficulty is totally fucked, but many people already talked about it in this thread.
- you can get really great upgrades later on (that help with some of the difficulty issues), too bad it happens way too late.
- no new game plus or option to replay the story levels.
- weapons feel samey and lack something new and special.
- the new characters lack the charm or depth of the ones in new order. less would have been a lot more.

its not a terrible game, but i simply dont understand how you can get from new order (and 3 years of development time) to...this.

Yup, I caught that. I was hoping for it to get a full fledged remix rather than the one in the new order but its ok

Really disappointing. Playing on xbox one and as it turns out when I try to get out of the rocket train the game breaks in a way that makes it unplayable. All of my guns turn invisible. I can see him 'holding' the pistol or rifle, but of course there's nothing there. He's shooting with imaginary weapons. So that makes it hard to fight nazi's that are armed to the teeth. Weapon wheel isn't selectable. I can melee, but that's it.

I'm at about 4 hours, but xbox was willing to refund my purchase. Tried reloading earlier saves - still happens. Maybe I'll pick it up used and try again later.

Just made it to the hub-world and I'm really enjoying it so far. It looks pretty nice too, especially the particle effects when vaporising people with the laser guns.

Sadly I have to agree. This turned out to be one of my biggest disappointments in recent gaming history.

I was pretty certain I would get it sooner or later but now I don't even want to play it anymore.
Seeing the campaign has been sad.
They give it all with the new order in combat scenarios and variety and I guess focus on their narrative ambitions has sealed the deal.

I love how the guns feel but the areas to fight in are....cramped?? Idk. I feel like after playing Doom and causing a ruckus at full speed, I'm finding myself traverse through levels at a slower pace. Which is the opppiste of what I'm trying to do.

Wow, reading the last couple of pages of this thread really make me want to to get this game. I absolutely loved 2016 DOOM, does this game play similarly? Does it make you feel like you're an unstoppable nazi destroying machine? I've been playing a lot of Nintendo games lately - Zelda BotW, Mario + Rabbids, and Mario Odyssey. I really feel like I need some good old fashioned violent FPS as a palette cleanser.
Just play Doom again. It's a lot better.

Have no idea where the negativity came from but after practice and playing on normal first, I can wholeheartedly say that yes, you will feel the bolded. Especially in the second half of the game, where the upgrades are wicked cool. You get a tackle that can turn the nazi immediately infront of you to gibs for cryin out loud!

I just finished it unexpectedly and I'm really disappointed.

The first few levels were awful, and by the time I'd warmed to the game it was nearly over. It didn't feel like the game the trailers had been selling at all. I don't even think I saw some of the things I remember from the trailers. Wasn't there supposed to be a cartoon lizard at some point?

Missing lizards aside, I am baffled as to how this is getting such glowing praise. It's a clunky, disjointed, inconsistent, hollow experience. And that makes me sad. I was really looking forward to it.

I agree with those saying it's a disappointment, but it's still a very solid game, in my opinion.

It's just not the top tier FPS I was expecting.

Yeah, I guess I ended up more disappointed than I thought at first. Had two friends ask me about the game, and I told the first to play DOOM instead, and the second I told to buy AC: Origins.

Will still give it a second run at some point to go through it sans hype, and to see the Fergus timeline.

It's on Wyatt's timeline. There is absolutely nothing lost from what you see in the trailers.

Stop putting stealth segments in this game. That broadcasting feature is one of the worst additions imo. Punish us with endless waves for trying to go guns blazing? Damn. It's annoying trying to be quiet until you kill the two commanders.

Yeah, I hope they scrap the commander system completely in the next game, or at least limit them to one per level.

They really slow the pace of the game down. They were nowhere near as frequent in The New Order.

The fascination of this game with bunkers is atrocious, it's like almost every single level is some form of bunker. Even when it goes to "crazier" locations later on, it might as well be a bunker. Like come on, there is so much creative and fun stuff you could do with this setting and you barely get two vignettes out of it in the entire game. How about a theme park, how about the white house, how about Yellowstone, how about Mount Rushmore, nope here are some more bunkers.

I genuinely forgot
I was on Venus.
In fact, I only remembered when BJ commented on 'that view'.

While I was stood in a windowless room.

I felt forced to upgrade my gun to the suppressor just to get through these stupid parts. Could've gone towards my shotgun or the magnum upgrade but they keep trying to make stealth a thing lol.

I was looking forward to this especially after seeing the review scores compared to TNO (which I played recently and enjoyed) but a lot of you guys seem disappointed.

I noticed on PSN earlier that only 23 people were streaming it compared to over 4000 streaming WWII so I'm guessing the game hasn't done too well commercially.

Ha, I remember that exact same line, and I was actually looking through the window and I remember thinking to myself "No BJ, in a year with BOTW and Horizon it's really not, it looks like looking at a regular mine from high above."

I'm surprised how negative the tone is in this thread, I'm at the
court scene
and this game has been amazing so far, this is far and away the best writing and acting of 2017, and so far the game paces itself more competently than TNO, which I haven't played in years but remember dragging on and on at times.

I do have to agree with the difficulty complaints, I'm dying an embarrassing amount of times in the Normal difficulty. Enemies will tear you to bloody shreds in a heartbeat, and their AI is surprisingly intelligent; they'll flank you and take advantage of your blindspots and thanks to some poor sound design, they'll kill you before you know what happened, and will therefore make the same mistake again.

Is the other timeline substantially different? I'd forgotten about that choice.

Do the oberkommando missions locked behind that tedious mini game offer much, or is it just retreading levels for specific targets?

It's meatier than on The New Order. It actually makes it worth a replay, considering the character that was chosen appears more and does things quite differently.

How about a theme park, how about the white house, how about Yellowstone, how about Mount Rushmore, nope here are some more bunkers.

There's quite a few different locations such as Manhattan or New Orleans. TNO made you go through several missions in your own base, it's a noted improvement.

I very much like the fact that we go back to previous places with the level design changed up, though. It gives weight to the areas they create, not just a one-and-done type of layout.

I'm surprised how negative the tone is in this thread

I'm surprised too ! You'd think it's the worst game ever made but the only criticism I can give is that it's a transitional game in terms of story progression but the story itself is phenomenal. It has the best cutscene directing in the industry by far and the gunplay is as hectic as ever while finding its own footing outside of the dynamic gunning of DOOM.

I'd say I even like the head bob because it gives weight to the character we're controlling but I can easily understand that it can give nausea to people.

Wanna use those dual wield shotties? Crouch your way to the commander first! That's if the Nazis keen eyes and ears don't give you away.

just the same old levels but with more enemies and commanders. yay!

No, texas is new and you get to kill KKK members

And I still had Zero problems massacuring my way to the commander many times. I'm not especially good at FPS on consoles so what is preventing you all? Is the harder difficulties that bad?

They seem to think the only way to kill commanders is by stealth as if they're gated behind a vault and you don't have the arsenal of an army at your disposal, and the ability to sprint as fast as Sonic the Hedgehog

One of the cool things early on in the subway portion was when I shot a nazi dog while stealth, and the other dogs ran out of sight and hid until I hopped off the train (and they promptly murdered me). The AI is much better than TNO from what I remember.

Also fuck the dogs, annoying as hell on 'do or die'. Its a guaranteed instadeath if enemies are around and they grab you. Mein Leben is gonna lead to so many salty runs.

Like its completely bonkers. You can kill easily EVERYONE they send you, and then the Commander is forced to chase you down himself. My only problem with the game is that they all use the grenade launcher with the rocket upgrade, so if you aren't careful you are bombarded with flying bombs. The good thing is you do have access to that weapon too and can shut them down before they even get started.

Just finished my second playthrough. I think I preferred Fergus again, though Wyatt was MUCH better than he was in the original game. His ending speech was also fantastic. This time around I didn't miss any readables and I'm back up to the progress I had on my first playthrough with the Uberkommandants when I accidentally saved over it. Just ticked the difficulty back up to Death Incarnate to tackle the rest of them.

I'm liking these Ubercommander missions. Other than the Farm house one, they've all been nicely built for stealth. I've been able to get through most them without killing anyone (other than the target and maybe a couple guys in my way) or being spotted. Farmhouse is lame though. Guy is surrounded by drones, supersoldats, a dog, and he's a crack shot with his hand cannon. I eventually just gave up on stealth and just threw grenades at him then retreated to the house, killed the other officer, and holed up there until I killed everything.
