I'm here for whatever Phoebe Waller-Bridge does.

Very interesting, thanks!

Also,

Showtime poured tens of millions into David Lynch's return to Twin Peaks, but the one-off has made little awards impact for a prestige play, and the ratings (2 million viewers, across platforms) did not spike as many thought they would.

b-but the first episode prompted a record number of signups to Showtime's OTT service!!

Whenever we're watching those shows and ads come on for other CW shows, they all look absolutely awful.

But the superhero shows especially are just so unappealing in every way they're advertised. The acting looks like crap. The story lines the ads try to promote all seem cliched and overwrought. The effects they show look absurdly cheap and laughable. And the editing and music which pulls them all together makes them seem like they're pulled straight out of two decades ago.

The advertising is accurately portraying their superhero shows. The acting is crap and the story lines are all cliched and overwrought. The effects are surprisingly decent though.

I watched it. I don't know if I would call it good. The dialogue sounds like it was written by twitter. The jokes are all over the place. No one seems like a decent person. Hell no one seems like a functional human. I'll probably watch all of it because I have issues.

The over the top dialog is par for the course with Heathers though - the film's dialog is cringe city.

As I said in the other thread, I didn't hate it. It actually reminded me quite a bit of Scream Queens.

Paramount Network Off To Strong Ratings Start In First Month, Led By 'Waco'

The first four episodes of the limited series, which premiered January 24, averaged 2.4 million viewers (Paramount Network and CMT, which is simulcasting combined) and a 1.5 rating with Adults 18-49 (1.2 on Paramount Network and 0.3 on CMT). In the 10 PM ET timeslot, Waco's January 24 premiere is up 318% in Adults 18-49, +274% with Women 18-49 and +206% with Women 18-34 compared to last quarter, as the former Spike TV.

Overall, helped by Waco, Lip Sync Battle and Ink Master, Paramount Network is up 50% in primetime with adults 18-49 (0.4 rating) and +44% with Women 18-49. It's also up 21% in Total Day viewership since its January 18 launch vs. last quarter average.

By the way almost everything you'll be watching in March will be on Netflix.

(seriously, I think Netflix has as much original content coming in March as all the linear networks combined)

Today's your lucky day.

killing-eve-key-art.jpg

Oh I know.
I'm not saying that I'm God and can will things into existence but:
I really hope we get a trailer for Killing Eve soon.
And within a few hours:

Not much to go on but what's there looks amazing

And Janelle Monáe dropped two songs today, one of which is like the anthem for fluid sexuality. Today has been gooooooooooood.

While that seems like a lot, in terms of original live action scripted series isn't it just:

Marvel's Jessica Jones: Season 2 -- NETFLIX ORIGINAL - 3/8/18
Love: Season 3 -- NETFLIX ORIGINAL - 3/9/18
Santa Clarita Diet: Season 2 -- NETFLIX ORIGINAL - 3/23/18
A Series of Unfortunate Events: Season 2 -- NETFLIX ORIGINAL - 3/30/18

Wait is that saying the agent that got Will and Grace on gets paid 2 million an episode for doing nothing? lol

Also I remember learning about this due to the fact that Voyager's Tom Paris was originally supposed to be a character from TNG, but they didn't want to pay that writer for every episode of Voyager.
(Which makes me wonder what happened with Miles and Keiko O'Brien and DS9...)

There is a bunch of originals in form of live action shows that they have first run rights to. Like Collateral which is probably the best thing they'll release in March.

And I don't think that Collateral is any less a Netflix Original then the third season of Bland, with a casual reminder that the very first show (Lilyhammer) that carried the "Netflix Original" branding was commissioned and produced by NRK alone (Netflix joined as a producer for season 2).

Also watch Collateral.

That's a fair point. I'm actually really looking forward to Collateral!

That list is terrifying, why would you scare everyone like that?!

Netflix will own us all by 2019.

That's a damn lot of shows, but I'm only planning to watch three streaming things in March: Jessica Jones, Love and Sneaky Pete. Well, Love is more of a hate-watch.

In for Love and Sneaky Pete

Will be nice to see what Graham Yost can do for Sneaky Pete without being shackled to the weird production stuff of the first season

I'm honestly not surprised. They said they were spending over $8B on original content this year and that they will have over half of Netflix's entire library to be original content by early 2019. This is the way to do it.

They promised at least 2 new original shows per week (in addition to renewals) and a new original movie "every 5 days" in 2018. Along with 30 new anime series (in addition to renewals) in 2018.

We can expect at least 100 more new series, 60-ish movies, 20 standup specials and like 50 renewals to come out by end of December at the pace they want to go (having over half of all content on Netflix be original). Wouldn't be surprised if we got a price hike by another dollar months from now.

Stephen King's 'The Bone Church' To Be Developed For Series
Chris Long and David Ayer's Cedar Park Entertainment has acquired Stephen King's The Bone Church and will develop it for series. Cedar Park will be the studio for the project as well. The Bone Church is a narrative poem that King wrote in the 60's. He later revised it and the poem was published as part of a King anthology, The Bazaar Of Bad Dreams. An adventurer organizes an expedition deep into a vast jungle land to locate the mythic Bone Church. They discover a secret not meant for the eyes of strangers. Only three of the 32 travelers escaped with their lives in a tale narrated by one of the survivors, who tells stories from a bar stool to patrons who'll buy him drinks.

Dave was on Kimmel the other night talking about it! Definitely going to check out a couple episodes this weekend. His season of Mind of a Chef was awesome.

Hears people repeatedly say "Seven Seconds" is too slow and takes too much time. Finds out it is from Veena Sud. Remembers "The Killing". Yep, sounds about right...

Awww yisss, The Expanse returns on SyFy April 11th for season 3. I'm expecting it sadly to be the last season given that the ratings have never taken off, but maybe the Netflix money can keep the lights on

im surprised The Expanse isnt one of the weekly shows on Netflix in EU. Well at least season 2 wasnt.

Yeah Tom Paris character was suppose to be the same dude from the episode where Wesley Crusher fucks up at the Academy, they pretty much changed only the name and used the same dude. Fun fact Tom Paris was going to get a bionic borg arm, but they thought showing a character losing a limb was too extreme

I'm liking Seven Seconds so far (five eps in). It's naturally gonna get compared to The Killing, but unlike that you know who did what in the first ten minutes of the show. The rest is basically watching the characters work/react to the case. It's slow and dense, but a different enough kind of slow and dense to me similar to some British crime dramas.
