Boy, those LAFC kits... and who thought YouTube TV was a good sponsor?

They are the official streaming partner. They signed a deal to stream all non-national TV LAFC games. Here are some fan created concepts. The overall designs aren't great, but they at least highlight how much more improved the kits could be if they color matched the logo:

It's not like the YouTube logo isn't still easily recognizable.

Agreed. Have to imagine they pushed for that, but ultimately YT won out in the end.

SoccerAmerica: Projecting the 23 MLS opening-day lineups
Paul Kennedy said:
My look at how the 23 MLS opening-day lineups shape up: an average of less than 4 #USMNT-eligible players per team. One with no #USMNT-eligible player, another with no field player.

FourFourTwo: Targeted Allocation Money is great for MLS, but maybe not for domestic players
"If we inject $2.8 million in TAM, is the league going to get better? The answer is, unequivocally, yes," said a club executive, one of more than a dozen front office members, coaches, scouts and agents – all of whom wished to remain anonymous – who spoke to FourFourTwo during the reporting of this story. "The other side of the debate is, did it punish Canadian and American players? That wasn't the intent, but I think it has been a consequence."

So it looks like Olympia is going to lose a few players in the RBNY game. We're probably going to make it through as a result, but I'd rather we beat their best outright instead of like this.

I don't understand all these articles, MLS teams have literally no obligation to help out the national team by developing young Americans. They should be doing whatever it takes to put the best 11/18 players on the field each week, and if they happen to be young Americans, that's just a bonus.

Maybe I'm just a club before country guy.

I mean, a good academy system can be a difference maker. Dallas and RBNY are the poster children for playing your kids. Sure we haven't won the Cup yet, but we're always contenders and we always give the best teams a run for their money.

A good academy system can get you some really good talent for cheap if you do it right. It's in most teams best interest to have a good academy, not everyone can be Real Madrid and just buy what they need.

That's fine, but MLS also tries to steer USSF policy to be pro-MLS development over pro-USMNT player development.

I agree with this, some teams don't have the capital to really compete in the international market (I root for one of them), they should be putting money into developing cheap talent through an academy. These articles are basically trying to shame the bigger teams into doing what's best for the USSF and not necessarily what's best for their individual club. Let Atlanta spend 18 million if they want, yet you see people bitching because it might keep a 17 year old American off the field.

Wonder if Bradley will sit tonight to mitigate the risk of a second yellow. Will be curious to see how the midfield holds up in his absence now that Cheyrou is gone.

Is NASL a lower league on par with USL or lower or just lateral? I was trying to figure out tiers this morning and how a relegation promotion system might hypothetically work. Shitty for those teams regardless.

NASL had like 2 teams left. They pretty much got absorbed by USL.

NASL used to be the second tier league in the country, followed by USL. Last year, USL petitioned to become the second tier league because NASL wasn't meeting the criteria anymore. The USSF agreed, so last season NASL and USL were the second tier leagues. Now with NASL pretty much gone, USL will be the sole second tier league, and USL will be launching a third tier league next year, which will probably be called USL 2.

Ideally if a usl2 is formed MLS second teams end up there and we get enough non-linked teams for usl1

Ideally. Of course i dont think we're there yet as a country though.

Do you mean MLS owned teams in USL, because I think most USL teams have links with MLS clubs, but most are not actually owned by MLS clubs.

But I do agree that the MLS owned USL clubs should be in USL 2. That way we get more investment from the non-MLS owners that could spur more interest of the sport in this country.

lol that may have been the worst finish in Giovinco's TFC career

edit: bit hard to evaluate a player when he comes on as a late sub but Aketxe has looked real good

Zero fucks given, lol

and yeah they were probably the better team through 90 minutes even if they didn't quite have the ability in the final third to really generate high quality chances. Not a great effort by Toronto either. Expecting the next round vs Tigres to be fun.

Aketxe was exciting for the brief period he was on. Didn't see Jozy lost his lunch until I saw the highlights, haha.

Bring on Tigres, that'll be a blast.

Anthony Precourt is an asshole and an idiot, all in one.

https://t.co/JyFgsWMCM9

TLDR: Austin City Council told him, "No Butler Shores" and appear to be telling him "no parkland" and he's still "I'M MOVING TO AUSTIN GIVE ME FREE LAND"

He also announces this at the same time the season ticket holder kickoff party starts. Less than 24 hours after USL Austin just decided to go ahead with the 2019 season as they originally intended to because they don't think the move is happening.

This is the writing of a man desperate for good news.

Man, fuck Precourt. Glad all this shit is happening, the Crew moving should never have been in the cards in the first place.
