The fact that the spoiler says "Hive and Lash" instead of "Ward and Andrew" leads me to believe they will be the CGI tentacle face guy and CGI monster guy because they couldn't get the actors back.

I just hope that we actually get more of Hive, and not just Ward. But we on a budget this season so probably not. He looked really good for the five seconds we got of him in Season 3 (was it 2or 3?)

I liked this season beginning arc a lot (ST:TNGS.H.I.E.L.D)...loved the new characters and dig time travel paradoxes.

Just a question: At what point is Kasius supposed to have captured/killed Yo-Yo?

He couldn't have recently found her future body to revive... once he saw SHIELD appear from the past...she would be 70 years decomposed whenever she originally died (she looked about the same as a yo yo currently before going back in time)

He also couldn't have taken her dead body after it had recently died decades ago, because he wouldn't even know who she was or why he would need her as a seer...

So what am I missing here??

pretty much anything involving yoyo this episode was just terrible.

I mean... cryptic for the sake of hidden plot is just stupid.
but especially... she leaves well before past yoyo it taken. doesn't manage to meet up with anyone by the time yoyo is taken to be killed in front of mac and a played out fight takes place, only to show up moments after.

nothing about that makes sense at all. Past Yoyo should have told her were to go to save Mac, or she should have met up with the main group well before the Mac fight or anything... it was just really stupid :/

Well, it's not really that stupid if you buy into the fixed Time loop conceit.

Current Yo-Yo always finds past Yo-yo at that specific moment, always leaves before Kasius shows up to get her.

Current Yo-Yo always finds Mack right after he and Jemma Kill Kasius...why would past Yo-Yo waste time telling current Yo-Yo where to go to find Mack when she knows she always finds him there anyways??

.. but damn yo-yo , what the heck ? I can understand that she might not be in the best state since she was tortured for years but still , it felt more like a case of the writters not telling us on purpose ...

Im pretty sure Yo-yo has said a bunch of different stuff to her current self over all the endless iterations of the loop...to no avail.

We just happened to see one of them (the last one?). But there were probably many previous times where she was more verbose and detailed. It just gets to the point where it didn't matter to explain so much.

Ever see Edge of Tomorrow? Great film. Tom Cruise is essentially stuck in a Groundhog Day time loop, allowing him to relive the same day over and over correcting mistakes that lead to his death.

In the many iterations we see him at first talking and explaining a lot to other characters...but as each new loop starts again, we see him become more concise and limited in his words/actions as he just tries to push through a situation to get to a new outcome.

I think what we are seeing is the loop Yo Yo cutting out all the bullshit and detail that was expressed to many iterations of Yo Yo's...that led to nothing new...and just trying to remember what she had already said/heard before and figure out something new/different to say to help

The Yo-Yo held captive was the one we saw in flashback leave the others to confront Kassius with Mack's shotgun axe. She obviously failed, but ended up getting tortured and killed repeatedly from them on. Kassius didn't happen to find her, she made an attempt on Kassius's life and failed.

Ah right...i forget she specifically mentioned him in that flashback scene.

So he killed her then, and immediately brought her back to life? For what? She didn't know anything that was going to happen until 70 years later, not much of a seer back then...or maybe I'm overthinking this and Kasius always brings back to life people he kills and Kree blood prevents body decay even when they are killed again and sit for decades?

I mean, he bothered to keep Tess's body around just in case, so he's been shown to be remarkably thorough in keeping things that might be useful later.

But besides that, Elena presumably revealed herself as an Inhuman in her assassination attempt, so before she was used as a "seer" he probably used her as generic material to try to breed Inhumans more efficiently...

Ah...using her over the last 70 years keeping her fresh for DNA extraction for his inhuman ring...that makes total sense. Thanks!

This season is missing the prime opportunity of casting elderly people to play Old Cap, Old Stark and Old Thor (to name a few)

I don't know if they made it explicit but the subplot about having to smuggle babies because they were not born anymore, along with genetic testing, suggests that the babies were breeded by the Kree to control and create more potential inhumans.

It would be better to link to the original source, rather than CBR, which is a clickbait site.

They are not "writing the finale as if it's the series finale." Much like they have done the past two seasons (at least), they have written it in a way where it could be a series finale if needed to be. The series has always wrapped things up, for the most part, at the end of each season, with the ability to make minor changes if needed depending on the status of the show.

We are in process [of writing the finale]," co-showrunner Jed Whedon told TVLine on Saturday at the show's Episode 100 celebration. Added co-showrunner Maurisa Tancharoen: "We know what it is."

And what it is, Tancharoen said, could serve as "either" a season or series finale.

Whedon elaborated, "Yeah, we're ready for if this is the end. We're definitely going to make it rewarding either way."

Depending on any imminent shifts in the wind-blowing, "We can certainly pivot and there are certain things that we're putting in that at the last minute could be adjusted," Whedon said. "But we know at the end we're not moving off that mark. We're going to do what we were planning to do, and I think that it'll be thrilling either way."

http://tvline.com/2018/02/27/agents-of-shield-season-5-finale-series-finale-cancelled-or-renewed/

This could be the last season, absolutely. But the point of the article is that they are writing the finale the same way they've written all of the previous ones.

A post from the cbr article (which apparently links to a TVLine article):
"Yeah, we're ready for if this is the end," Jed Whedon, co-showrunner on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., said in an interview with TVLine. "We're definitely going to make it rewarding either way." Co-showrunner Maurisa Tancharoen confirmed that the finale could serve as "either" a suitable capper or a season or the entire series.

Doesn't mean that this season will be it, but it does unfortunately mean that there is still a decent chance that there won't be a season 6 to look forward to.

Edit: beaten real bad. Dammit, this is why I gotta refresh pages after reading through them!

Not sure how I would feel if this is the last season. SHIELD's awesome, but 5 seasons and over 100 episodes is a really good run.

I had always thought I heard thought they want to keep it around to then launch exclusively on the new Disney Streaming Service.

Could you imagine if
The Ward was a multiversal Ward comprised of all Wards? It'd be so wacky.

My guess is that it's an alternate timeline where the Inhumans took over somehow.

I remember being convinced that season four was the last. It had everything from not just a great kick-ass season, but having notable old characters coming back as guests (Agent Koenig, Ward, Trip, Bakshi etc.) The show also reached syndication last year. I'm bet the dinner scene at the end of Season Four was the final last scene ever, then they added the space stuff after getting renewed for a fifth.

Is there some reason so many people are excited for Dove Cameron on this show? I have no clue who she is and the only notable thing I can see from her on IMDB is Hairspray Live.
