SoulCalibur VI Discussion Thread - Roster, Stages, Guests, DLC, etc

As long as i get Talim with her running superman punch intact and without those god-aweful see thru pants she got in SCIV i'm good when it comes to roster.
Fighting games tend to get longer support cycles, because the players will stick with great fighters, and are very willing to spend on the DLC. If SCVI isn't a disaster, the SC community will keep it alive.
Two years is not out of the question. Tekken's going to get one year of support post-console release, and that's after 2-3 years of arcade. SFV is getting 5 yrs of support, Xrd is over 2 right now.

Man I wish Hwang would be included. But let's just be honest. They permabanned a main from Soul Calibur, something even Street Fighter wouldn't do, and then assumed people would move over to Yun-Seong for no particular reason. :(
That being said, Soul Blade and Soul Calibur give a lot of classics for Namco to turn to.
The leak says Hwang has a good shot, so I'm converting to that cult.
Hwang's backstory with a *little* of Yun's personality + Yun's movelist with Hwang's throws, 3AAB, and 1B would be the ideal outcome to me.

I'd love her as a guest; though there's no reason for her to be a version-exclusive character; Nintendo only owns the assets for 2 and 3.
The relative obscurity of the franchise would probably count against it; but she was apparently considered for SCV just off the first game...
She'd fit in decently well - at least less of an aesthetic clash than the one new character we've seen for VI, and she could make for a fun character given the source material. Mari Shimazaki is likely going to be doing some work for the game anyway going off Tekken 7 and SCV, and the time period even fits.
I was mostly joking though I do heavily associate her with Nintendo now.
She'd be a fun guest character definitely.

Long shot, but this is all I want. Yoshi is my main, but ZWEI would really get me excited... especially if he's not bottom tier this time around.
He seems to be both his own character and Nightmare - the unmasked Nightmare isn't another costume, it's just an armour break.

Yeah, I think Tekken 1 had Michelle running with two axes (and terrible animation) in the intro. I could deal with that, Mad Axes with actual axes would be excellent!

E. Honda? LOL Pretty sure he was in SSFIV? And his moveset is iconic that they wouldn't just...make him a clone. Or cut him from the series. Which Hwang basically gets. At best he was so broken/copy that I had to switch to Voldo.

I'd prefer that. I know everyone immediately though Viola was Amy, but I wouldn't be so sure about that. It could very well be an Unknown situation, where everyone assumed it was Jun but it was later revealed that she was supposed to be the spirit of her dead sister or something like that.
Might sound silly, but my decision to buy this game will be heavily influenced by whether Seong Mina is in. For some reason, her fighting style just always resonated with me more than any other character (including similar characters like Kilik). Been my main character since Soul Edge.
You are sniffing 'caine, sir. Spawn's moveset — minus the projectile and hover mechanics — was fun as hell. Dude came out with that hatchet murder shit. He was crazy fun, and if you don't think so, I'm convinced you're allergic to fun.
Viola could be... I don't know, Amy's secret twin sister? Some sort of doppelganger created by Soul Edge-adjacent magicks? But I've always just thought it was Amy. I have to assume the identity of Viola was meant to be explored in 5's story mode before it got completely gutted.
Wondering if you guys are predicting the presence of Time Stuff in 6, by which I mean not chronology changes to make Talim / Tira / Hilde a bit older (wow so many teenage girls... makes you think), but straight up time travel / alternate timeline / dimension warping Stuff as part of the plot. The Astral Chaos was in the background for a lot of the events of 5 (i.e. the disappearance of Cassandra) and they're clearly leaning more into the fantasy half of "historical fantasy" so, if, say, adult Viola walks out of a portal from the Astral Chaos into the past, it wouldn't be that unprecedented. And all those flashes of the events of the later games in Sophitia's mind in the trailer suggest this isn't just a flat reboot to me.

Well, it's nowhere. That's kind of the rub. But she has the same face, same voice actress, and unique interactions with Raphael--it's clearly their intent for there to be some sort of relationship between Amy and Viola.

It was never confirmed. Fans just jumped to that conclusion due to the similar hairstyles and somewhat similar outfits.

I was going by the Vergeben leak, which has been right so far.
I thought it was confirmed in story that it was some random duke. The actual model was just similar.

It is heavily implied, almost confirmed, that the true identity of "Graf Dumas" is in fact Raphael. As stated by the new artbook, Raphael died after the events of IV and his body was used by some of Soul Edge's minions as it's new host which confirms it somewhat but due to Raphael's willpower was so great The Soul Edge itself had to rewrite some of his memories to make him somewhat a replacement for Siegfried.
Nightmare has Raphael's character model underneath his armour.
Nightmare's armour in Soulcalibur V has a bat theme, which is related to Raphael. It was stated by the developers that Nightmare has this bat theme for a reason.
The current body for Nightmare is a host that was kept underneath Ostreinsburg Castle, this is where Raphael woke up prior to Soulcalibur V, with no memory of how he got there. Raphael is also a malfested vampire, who had previously been influenced by the sword, so he would fit as a host.
Nightmare and Raphael share the same voice actor in both languages in Soulcalibur V.
Nightmare and Raphael have the exact same height (5'10"), just like his predecessor did with his former host Siegfried.
Nightmare's fighting style was also changed to "What the sword desires". New Legends of Project Soul clarifies that Soul Edge is using Dumas as an experiment to see if it can claim a new host while retaining its preferred zweihander form, leading Nightmare to use his "previous" fighting style instead of the host's, explaining why Nightmare wouldn't use Raphael's usual style.

Raphael is said to suffer from amnesia in Soulcalibur V and random waves of pain, Soul Edge is said to have replaced his current host's memories, which would explain Raphael's affliction.
