Nagelfar - Srontgorrth (Das dritte Kapitel)

Speaking of keyboards in black metal... Nagelfar do it quite well. Classic melodic black metal. The drummer went on to form The Ruins of Beverast which are another absolutely incredible band.

killer stuff. Always held Ruins in high regard but neglected this project to this point.

Are there any socially aware newer thrash bands aside from Violator around? Feeling a bit inspired by Razor - Miami. As current now as it ever was.

I don't really know any of these bands, but Whitechapel, Fleshgod Apocalypse, and Black Dahila Murder are gonna be playing a show near me in...well like four and a half months but whatever. Opener is Shadow of Intent who I really like.

So I might go to that for the opener :P Tickets are only $25

I used to be all about metal back in middle and high school, but It's become something I only occasionally listen to now as the communities I was into all fell apart. I'm subbing to this thread in hopes that it'll encourage me to go through my collection more regularly.

This morning I'm listening to 1998's The Dynamic Gallery of Thoughts:

...And Oceans is a band that I've had an unusual affection for since middle school. They've never been particularly popular or influential, but I've always been into their albums, even the later industrial-tinged stuff. I think it might be mostly the cool cover artwork to be honest. The synth work is very interesting too, especially for the time.

So it looks like a bunch of bands on Metal Blade Records had a bunch of stuff delisted from Google Play or something? I'm checking random bands but pretty much the entire discographies for Cattle Decap, Black Dahlia Murder, Amon Amarth, Goatwhore, etc. are missing. Can anyone else see if this is happening on their end or if it's just me?

Looks like you have those downloaded to device. Try clearing one and see if it shows back up. I think they change versions like when an enhanced dynamic something or other hits. I see Cattle Decap and whores of goats on my end.

There's something weird going on with Google Play for sure. I checked Amon Amarth and Goatwhore. Some albums work fine but others show up in the list but when I click on them, it just goes to my library instead of the album. It seems kind of random which ones do this. Goatwhore for example, Vengeful Ascension works but Contricting Rage and Blood for the Master both don't. Same with Amon Amarth. Seems that albums I already had added to my library work fine too. This is on a browser.

Where do you all buy your vinyl? I've seen some awesome records in here but have no idea where to look.

I buy a lot of stuff directly from labels. Some stuff from local stores that occasinally get good stuff in. Hell's Headbangers has also been a great distro that I buy a decent amount of stuff from.

If we are talking vinyl, I meant to post some of my collection at some point. Here's a few choice cuts:

SunnO))) Collection

Deathspell Omega collection:

Darkthrone trilogy:

LLN Stuff:

^very nize.

about where to buy vinyl, yes directly from distros is usually the way to go. It supports the underground's new releases and for the most part a lot of these labels have some nice stock. The ones that I mostly rely on domestically are Hells Headbangers, Nuclear War Now, Dark Descent, 20 Buck Spin, Eroding Winds, and Arcane Altar (THE BEST black metal distro). Abroad the only one I consistently check out is Iron Bonehead since its shipping prices are super affordable. There's also High Roller Records whose shipping prices are a little higher but its distribution is outstanding. They are ahead of the game on upcoming releases from all over the world pretty much.

having said all that, I mostly spend my time looking for releases on Discogs. Not only is it an invaluable resource of information, it's absolutely the best way to track down very specific releases. Look for the band, then the album, pick your format, then the variant. It's a massive time sink for me and I have learned so much more about albums I already loved just from browsing around. You deal with people one on one, but really the process is quite streamlined. Like eBay, just have some common sense about who you choose to deal with.

Excited for Sabaton/Kreator tonight. Was curious who the support acts are... I see that it's Cyhra. Now I'm VERY excited for Cyhra/Sabaton/Kreator. What a bill.

Happy Thursday afternoon ladies and gents. Here's my pick for today:

Song of the day:

Bathory - Shores In Flames

With a dash of nostalgia from my teenage years and it being one of the best songs on the entire album, this choice was a no brainer.

One of the greatest songs of all time. It's my first Bathory song too, from my brother's mixtape way back. <3

Yea, now that I dig a bit deeper I see the missing tunes too. Mobile for me
For me even stuff I've downloaded locally is missing, and just shows the album with 0 tracks like the screenshot I posted before. Removing the download doesn't fix it. I've tried the Play Music app and Play Store on my phone and my computer. Hopefully this is just some weird bug that gets fixed soon, since if it was actually a record label issue or something then presumably everything would have been removed.

Thank you! While it wasn't my first Bathory song, this album as a whole was one of the first I purchased from Black Mark directly. Listening to it for the first time on my turntable after waiting (what felt like) forever for the shipment to come in was an awesome experience.

The Dynamic Gallery of Thoughts is an album I will always cherish as it was one of my go-to's during my high school years. I only wish I would have picked up a physical copy back then!

Have fun, man. Sabaton always put on an excellent show! I'll be at their Tampa show on the 10th. Think it'll be the sixth time I've seen them.

I like the new ATG. I remember being really hyped for their last album after loving the first song they put out, then hearing the final thing and that first single was easily the best on the album. The rest all just kind of blended together and was pretty samey. Every single song had some sort of interlude like they couldn't pick which they wanted to be the opener, it was pretty bad

This new song has worse production I think, it's very reverby but kinda sucks away the edge. Still, I think it has promise

Picked up the T.R.A.M. CD on Ebay (because it's only place to get the music outside iTunes). Great AaL jazz.

I adored 36 Crazyfists album "A Snowcapped Romance", but never really felt that their succeeding albums packed the same punch. But damn, their new album just rips the right places, and especially this song.
Have a fabulous weekend.

Hm...just listened to an Iron Reagan tune since I keep seeing it plastered all over and recently heard Municipal Waste members are attached. Might have to give these guys a shot. Pretty hard and aggressive, just my style!

Was jamming some Overkill and this came up in recommendations. Not sure I've listened to this band before but the goat is mesmerizing

Edit: never heard of Heilung. May have seen the name but holy shit, their stage show is amazing! No clue if their metal though lol this video is all kinds of tribal type stuff. Very impressive
