If anyone wants easy credits then the Monza circuit experience is where to go. It's a joke how low the gold times are.

Can you get the credits indefinitely or is it still only a one-off? I did the Monza circuit experience this morning and it got me about 250,000 credits in total and was very quick to do.

  • VR - TOD can now be selected for VR races (apparently)
That has always been a thing in the VR mode, though there might be some more variants. Didn't notice anything different when I checked earlier though (except the track menu redesign that is the same on all arcade modes).

BMB - Infield A is great. I just ran a couple of tense Sport Gr3 races there and they were tense. Got a little wild at times but a lot of that is people figuring out entry speeds on the corners. It's very fun with Gr3 and reminds me of Daytona Road Course.

Yeh I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought "Daytona road" when going around it!

Yeh it's just one off but it's literally 250k credits in about 5 minutes.

The Sport Mode changes looks very promising, lets see how it plays out.

So did any of you fine lads see this in effect yet and can explain how it works?

"- If a driver continues to drive without complying with a certain amount of Time Penalty, additional time penalties will be added. (The additional penalty depends on the DR);"

I made a test during a practice lap, hitting a wall gave 4 seconds penalty, not slowing down gave me another 10 seconds, continued not slowing down it disqualified my lap.

I wish they would add more rally content, or campaign events, but I suspect they won't as most people don't seem to like them. :(

They're one of my favorite parts of the game.

I haven't had a chance to update the game yet, but has anyone tried out drifting the Dai Yoshihara BRZ?

I already have a GT86 drift car, but going to widebody seems really damn tempting, especially if the handling is better than the stock cars for drifting.

Does anyone find the shifting weird on most of the cars in gt sport when they are stock?

When you change gears they have some weird sort of delay... It's very annoying

Depends on the car. Some feel like simulating the clutch when you hit the button then they shift up but act as if you are still accelerating without simulating what normally happens when you push a clutch in and accelerate. Really apparent in the F1500T-A, you are better short shifting with some of them as by the time you shift up like you would with a sequential you are hitting the top speed of the gear and lose a lot of speed.

They might not be doing that at all but that is how they feel to me.

It has a very short gear ratio. Don't know if it's customizable or if you like short ratios. The fact that it's also LS swapped will surprise you lol

My RX7 and GT86 drift cars were recently moved to shorter gear ratios and I've somewhat gotten used to it, but those aren't 1000HP cars lol. I'd have to give it a try tonight to see if it's manageable.

Man I always knew the game had VR for 1v1 racing, but I never considered to use it for drifting. That looks really fun. If they found a way to create VR lobbies with 10 people I'd pick one up.

I'll be again around just in case for the Suzuka race, I've been kind of lurking here after my horrible performance the saturday, sorry Ferrari team ;b. Anyway in Suzuka I'm a bit better and also I'll practice a bit more and do several trial runs with different cars, just in case to try to stay with the pack -_-. Anyway after the horrendous Nürb GP race and yesterday struggling more than ever with the gamepad, I've tried again the motion controls..and wow, its not the same of course, but is very very decent. I think I'll manage until I can have a wheel (I hope in summer, its a long story)

By the way, I also think the Sport mode penalty changes seems very good, I have to try it. If PD keeps polishing the rating systems, and improving the game adding more cars and circuits, Gran Turismo Sport is going to consolidate as the online racer to go in consoles.

And by the way, about having more ResetEra series running, I'm in. The thing is, with my current schedule, I can commit only to one race per week (maybe some weeks two, but normally only one). So anyway, if there's enough people, count me in.

Good stuff man. I'll let you know on Sunday if there's an available slot again. Suzuka should be fun.

I think it's because they are manual so the clutch in delay is quite long if you are not using a clutch pedal.

Anyone fancy a little Resetera time trial on the latest Mozart circuit experience?

The circuit experiences seem to be the only way we can do friend leaderboards in this game for some boneheaded reason :(

I've already posted a laptime on Monza's circuit experience yesterday, go ahead and sign me up. :) It's a shame we didn't get any Circuit Experiences for the new variations of older tracks.

I'm up for that a bit later. I would've had the whole day to myself but it's a snow day in the UK so I've got 2 kids that should've been at school to keep occupied

The penalty system changes are crazy. Raced on the Yamagiwa daily and there were dudes driving 5mph everywhere trying to burn off penalties. Makes me wonder if they even tested these changes internally, because it was kind of chaos on the track.

Why is that a bad thing? If you get a penalty - SLOW DOWN. That's what it should have been from the start, but it was too easy to ease away penalties over time.

I'm dreading racing at monza with these penalty rules, I always manage to pick up a penalty there, and I find the actual detection for slowing down only works about 50% of the time.

Yep, and also people are going to learn this way that they should stop making contact with other cars. It will also deter people from divebombing which is positive in my eyes. If some people want to maintain their S rank then they will really need to adjust how they drive.

The races I had on the new infield layout at Blue Moon yesterday were great.

Because it's a road hazard for everyone else on the track. These people aren't ghosted, they are just puttering along while everyone else has to avoid them at full blast. PD needs to just disallow penalties from being scrubbed off. Add 'em up at the end and adjust the finishing positions.

GHG damn dude how did you manage that 1:47 time on the Monza circuit challenge 1-lap. I got mine down to 1:52 but I must be approaching some of those turns wrong. Impressive stuff.

Are you sure? I'm fairly sure they've been ghosted in my experience (when you get close), but I'm not 100% on that. I will need to look for more of them..

Yeah, on one lap at Yamagiwa tonight I had to avoid three different drivers crawling along the track burning off a penalty. Most laps there was at least one of them. If you have 5 seconds or more penalty the game will now start adding on additional penalty time if you don't serve it within a few seconds, so people are just doing it wherever they happen to be on the track.

Ok, if that is the case I can see what you mean. They need to make people ghosts when penalty time is ticking down.

I'll post the video soon :) . I have to confess Monza is one of my guilty pleasures although I know a lot of people hate the track *shrugs*

And yeh, if the game doesn't ghost people as they server their penalties then PD really need to sort that out because the whole thing becomes a mess if not. Maybe the width of the Blue Moon track helped yesterday as I didn't ever experience anyone getting in my way due to serving a penalty. I could imagine on tracks like Brands Hatch and Suzuka it would be chaos...

I think the changes are great. There is always going to be an adjustment period but they should get people to become better racers and get a better field of racers. I do think a pit drive-through for accumulated penalties over 5 seconds should be enforced but this is a good starting point, people need to learn where to be if they are going to drive slower on a track and be more aware of the speed of people in front and give extra bit of room just in case.

One of my biggest problems with the DR system was that I didn't have confidence in the drivers around me, there are some great drivers that I'd be super comfortable driving in close proximity but they aren't the problem it is usually the ones that get up your rear going into corners or position themselves so they were either going to use me as a barrier or cut. Just having these penalty changes should hypothetically make people more aware of these positionings as they will get slapped and those that repeatedly abuse it will get knocked down the ranks, the higher up you are not only should the drivers be fast but also technically good and what the higher ranks should consist of.

Since its the 1st of March we can do a new one each week with a different car track combo if people are interested? So this one will run until the 7th and then I will create a new one on the 8th. Future ones wont be limited to circuit experiences but this is an easy one to start with :)

If you decide to allow tuning as well as long as people share what they used I'm definitely partaking.

One suggestion, there should also be a notification whether the time was set using a wheel or a controller. My current time is 1:49.1, but I'll definitely try to improve. :)

Tuning isn't possible in this one because it's a circuit experience although I will allow it in future challenges dependant on the car. I'll specify when tuning is allowed.

Isn't it a bit pointless with tuning after all the whole point is to have an even playing field no? Sorry missed the bit about sharing the tune ;-)

I think certain cars will need a tune to help settle them down to be drivable without assists (the recently added F1 car for example). But what I have in mind for next weeks one wont need a tune. So yeh, it will vary.

I personally love tuning. Getting rid of the little kinks so they suit you better or improving weaknesses in the stock setup. The F1500T-A has crazy understeer, just quickly adjust the roll bars and you can get really tight through corners at mad speeds with little understeer without introducing any oversteer.

Nice way to help people understand the differences you can make to a car and overall get more out of the game. Some cars I have managed to strip off 20 seconds from one lap to another just by changing a few things I didn't like and that's not touching the weight or power of the car either.

I love the idea of that too. I used to tinker endlessly and thru trial and error find setups i like but I'm guessing it's also the reason PD didn't bother with leaderboards. But in a curated setting like this I can definitely see the appeal

Are Polyphony hard trolling people who wish to use the third person camera in this game? To be clear I vastly prefer the bumper cam over all others, but every once in a while I flip to the third person camera to see my car, etc, and to my surprise as of last night the game still does not save your settings for the third person camera. The default settings are awful, but changing a couple settings in the advanced menu makes them fine, but for whatever reason this is never saved.

Yeah this is a bit annoying.

What's worse is if you go into the settings to change it you'll see that the camera settings are actually correct but for some reason it doesn't adjust it.

First time this happened I thought I was crazy. My settings were the same but the camera was super different. You have to change it to the original settings and then back to your new ones.

I'm just recording my replay now but I can see that my front supers were about a 3rd worn and my rears about a 1/4 after 3 laps which is when you pitted. Maybe the McLaren is just really kind on tyres, I wasn't actually driving different to how I do normally (I wasn't saving the tyres like GHG says he has to). I was running TC on 2 and I wasn't being super aggressive on the kerbs - you can see from Fifanutz video that he's having to ease off through the esses as the car is understeering, whilst the McLaren went through flat out every time.

I think what really stood out on Fifanutz video is how knackered the fronts are whilst the back are virtually untouched.
So watching that your tyre wear seems better and more even than the Aston Martin's. I started with Super Soft's this round which kept me out in front to begin with but with intense tyre wear hence my early pit. I changed to Mediums but couldn't recover the performance of Super Soft's and they only last a lap longer. 5 laps on Super Soft's is, like, amazing to me. It's as if it's two different class of car.

I only use ABS (tried it with TC and no difference for me).

Must say I like your driving style too. Very clean and progressive. I generally use the same lines as you but maybe I'm a tad more aggressive on exit...not enough to warrant a completely new level of tyre wear though lol.

How about for season 2 an official OT? Use first post for the latest standings, and reserve the first x number of posts for details (and then results) of each round?

Such good work deserves its own thread, IMO.
I agree. Amazing job that deserves it's own dedicated, focussed thread.

If its too easy then its boring, especially for the length of time that we are racing.
It should never feel boring pushing yourself to the limit, regardless of lobby settings. Changing criteria affects everyone so the racing should still be as intense.

Ok let's do this
