This is a dark day for Spider-Man fans.

People will come around to miss Dan Slott deeply. I'm giving this book one arc. If it's a mess, I'm out.

I'll be patiently waiting for the Slott cycle to come around. big time through superior was amazing stuff.

I'm in for Ottley, I'm glad he's coming off of Invincible strong. Hesitant about Spencer due to his track record though. If nothing else, I hope we get some more great villain writing aka Superior Foes.

Time will tell.

I like a lot of Slott's story ideas, and I was a fan of his Superior run. But by and large Slott's dialogue was so awful, it single-handedly kept me away from the book.

I'm aware of stuff I missed through osmosis. I came back for Stern's Juggernaut story, but... *shrug.*

I feel like modern stern stuff kind of sucked. I want to say he had a multi part story on the side as a part of one of the issue milestones and I remember it being very meh. might not be remembering correctly though

MJ and Black Cat confirmed, even if they aren't on that promotional image.

Sweet, been missing Mary-Jane.

Slott was fucking terrible and his only two arc of worth was Superior and Spider-Verse, everything else was either meh or garbage tier.

I will not miss him at all.

Now that Invincible is over and Ottley is free, guess I'm going to be following ASM now.
His artwork is perfect for Spidey. But I wish it was the Miles Morales book instead.

How the hell did they pry Dan Slott off the book? Is Dan Slott dead, cause it feels like that's the only way this could happen.

He's taking over Iron Man. He said he could never write more Spider-Man comics than Bendis and finally agreed to step away.

(Then he found out Bendis was leaving Marvel. But by then it was too late.)

He sold his marriage to the devil to save his almost-dead aunt. If that's your Peter, fine, you do you, but stop trying to berate me for not accepting bullshit many, many Spiderman fans have and will never accept.

A) OMD sucked ass
B) I didn't berate you lol, chill. I literally told you to disregard my recommendation after you said you didn't like unmarried peter

To be fair, Spencer also said he wouldn't solve Secret Empire with the cosmic cube. So don't put too much stock in Schroedinger's MJ yet. She could appear in flashback :D

They said there's new love interests, so either way she'll continue to be a background filler character.

I'm all out of my pills when it's about Spencer writing Spidey, sorry. :/

I wouldn't mind unmarried Peter, if every signle of his relationships hadn't sucked ass, they wouldn't have done MJ baiting and "Haha fucking SUCKERS" so many times, Renew Your Vows didn't suck, and the character wasn't damned to staying the same stale loser forever.

Married Peter had development, and all attemtps to rid him of MJ killed all that.

Some of Slott's arcs were good, I give you that, but I refuse to give them my money for Spidey.

PS: Spiderman. >:T

yeah I was pretty disappointed with Renew Your Vows. Conway/Stegman seemed like such a great team on paper. I haven't read any of the new writer's issues though

ps: Spider Man >

It's been 10 years. Your thoughts on OMD have no impact on the quality of the book now. Hell, ASM was great shortly after OMD.

Character assassination is character assassination. Especially when Slott has been playing with people over the Marriage. I'm not going to support them with my money if they gleefully bash people who want their Peter back. Not like it matters, now that Spencer's on the book.

Giving MJ powers is what killed it for me. I wish we could have Mayday back.

PS: Die Spinne!

If I were Cebulski, I wouldn't want anyone who conceived a project that was as big a PR and sales disaster as Secret Empire anywhere near another flagship book.

But that's the comic book industry boys' club for you. Reach a certain point in your career, make friends with the right editors, and you can keep failing upwards.

I actually liked the idea of MJ and their daughter having powers. I just didn't like the book. the first issue felt like a breath of fresh air with pete and MJ having to juggle their work life, parenting, and super hero stuff and then it was all downhill from there for me. kid osborn running shit was real weird too.

I got the idea behind Spider-Family and thought it was fine. It's the pacing on the series that hurt it, I think. We didn't need four issues of the Spider-Family fighting the Mole Man, then rush jobs for the X-Men team-up and MJ taking control of Venom.

(I miss Mayday too.)

I liked MJ being the "straight man" that grounded Peter, myself, so giving her powers ruined a lot of their dynamic that I enjoyed.

I love the daughter they came up with for RyV, but the stories themselves just aren't all that fun.

I think they're drawing stuff out, because they simply don't have all that many stories to tell. :/

That's fine, I disliked OMD too. But the result of it was good.

Peter was very much Peter in the books that followed.

Right. But you came into the thread to ask if you can boycott a book you're already boycotting, so...

I thought the absolute snarky sarcasm was obvious on that line. It was just a snarky way of expressing how angry Spencer being on Spidey makes me, 'cause boycott or not, I've at least been following loosely.

Dual numbering? lol...what in the world.

Also, that art sample isn't exactly setting me on fire. Looks pretty bad, imo(kraven is a good example)
