That Aloy bow is surprisingly good. 192 attack, 30% affinity and a lvl 3 slot. Put Elementless jewel and it's doing some really good damage.

I really, really wish there was a way to turn off people's auto messages, some of them are really fucking ignorant.

I find that half the time I mount Teostra I can count on a flashpod coming in from someone. It's annoying for sure, but I don't blame them too much since the the animation of Teostra going up from a mount and his super destruction wave are pretty similar. Especially when enraged. It also makes my snarky mounting message about reading the mounting message and flashing anyway more on the nose.

On Xbox, most I've run into have been fairly innocent and/or meme-y, but I ran into one dude last night whose messages were all caps locked and about "scrubs" ("DROPPED A HEALTH BOOSTER FOR YOU SCRUBS", "CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DIED SCRUB", et cetera)

I agree with this 100000%. In the heat of battle you want me to put my weapon away and start picking shit up? Put these drops in my inventory automatically!!!

I'm assuming you're talking about shinies, yeah they do disappear a bit too quickly but it's not really an issue. Just more risk/reward push during battle.

Yeah I've got those too. The real elitist veterans are the worst of this community they treat you like total garbage if you didn't G rank other monster hunter games.

Aloy set and Wiggler hat get. Aloy's bow actually seems pretty cool. No power coating sucks and the raw isn't anything to write home about, but it must be piss easy to get 100% affinity with it. Probably can do something with Elementless, Crit Boost and Weakness Exploit.

Wiggler hat is top-notch though. I kinda want to make a support set even though I play solo.

another Week without a patch? Strange. Especially when there's one game breaking bug they publicly acknowledged (deco crash).

The Charge Blade and the Switch Axe are gimmicky and a lot of fun indeed. The Gunlance really lacks in mobility imho.

Charge blade has a bit more versatility in the sense that you can also use it as a sword and shield. So it has better defensive capabilities.
I decided to go gun lance becoz it's a lance that's also a gun and vice versa... so dumb!!

played a few rounds but only beating easy monsters (Jagra and Tiki Tizi) which is fine coz those are the monsters I needed to build my weapon stronger. A couple things...

one, it's strange coming from Bow coz with Bow I literally went thru so much of the game without ever needing to upgrade my armor becoz the whole point of that weapon is you never get hit by the monster ever since I'm always a distance away. Now with the Lance, it's so slow, but you got a shield that seems to block pretty much everything, so now I'm getting hit all day and it's OK.

second, I watched like a handful of tutorials on this weapon before even starting it out >_< not sure if that takes away from the fun of the game, but hey I spent 70 hrs learning bow already, and fighting all the same monsters all over again, so I'm not too concerned with taking shortcuts at this point lol. I'm sure I got another 70 hours to look forward to, and another 70 after that...

Tempered Kirin quest down, on my third attempt. :(

It's really strange that the game is gated on that quest. That battle is difficult, time consuming and offers plenty of opportunity for accidental carts. I did a tempered vaal directly afterwards with a group and we cleared it in 11 minutes.

Some people are probably in the middle of battle animation or they're too slow. It happens. Same thing with Vaal when he does does his various attacks which can be easily flashed.
I honestly think some people just don't know.

During Tempered fights these days, even in rando matches, at least 2 flashes get shot the minute he does nova, because enough people know you can do it. I mean, at this point, he's the easiest for seasoned players to fight, given that his nova can be flashed, his escape can be flashed, etc. We keep locking him down and beating the crap out of him.

Uuugh. People who flash pod after I mount a monster are the worst.
YES! So annoying. I get it when there is a 15 minute time limit and everyone is fine. But otherwise. Sharpen your stuff, heal yourself etc if you can't hit it in the air.

Also bow users please don't start raining stones all over the dragon!

I don't know if it's just me or what, but the end game for World has not gripped me like 3-Gen. not sure if it's the investigation grind or the lower big monster count. Kind of a bummer.

For me, it's the way that multi-monster quest now are pretty much relegated to occasional Request and Investigations. I miss 5 Hyper Monster Hunt-A-Thon, double Rajang in Arena, Tigrex/Narga/Jho in Arena, and Silver/Gold Rath in Arena. Finding Tempered Investigation also pain in the ass, and lower tier Tempered monster could really use more HP, them having similar HP to normal variant means four players with endgame weapons completety destroy them.

These days I... uhm... did low rank all over again XD been playing with my brother in law and I don't mind the old quests, I love voice chatting with family while playing MH, game changer tbh. You get to explain the basics, try new weapons... this is the actual endgame in my mind, I love playing for the sake of it and new people are great, they see stuff for the first time and it's nice. :)

Anyway yesterday I wanted to actually play for progression and went to the last boss... I heard it was lame but Jesus what a PITA, people don't wanna join the SOS (I can see why!) so in the end it was me and some dude, things were slow, 10 minutes left, last cart happened, giant waste of time. ><

Maybe I'm going solo, it has just too health in multiplayer, you get a buddy with low DPS you're, like, screwed.

How do you get the Horizon stuff? I have a copy of Horizon if it requires the game. Is it end game farming or something?

As someone who pretty much started with and has stuck with the bow for like 40 hours or so (just got past Nergigante in the HR story), that fear has kept me from really trying anything else, haha. Every time I start to think "maybe melee would be cool...", it's immediately followed with like "...but I spent so long learning and investing in the bow." I think it's also due to not having hit many challenging road blocks in the game so far (up until Nerg, which took a few retries to get, haha). Think I'm just scared I'll switch to something else and have an awful, soul-destroying time.

Just realised I'm exactly the same :)

Been maiming gunlance and it's good fun but it's quite slow/stationary combat. I also crafted a Nergy version and blast isn't that powerful and it eats too much sharpness.

I've dabbled with long sword and it's fun to roll around and feel like you're "dancing" with the monster. But I'm really worried ill craft a high end version and then realise I'm not good enough to fight the end game monsters and I'll have to go back to GL with my tail between my legs.

Too scared to try basically.

On the plus side I started doing tier 2 stuff last night and actually started getting some half decent decos.Got a couple of gobblers, (useful as sheathing is so slow) , speed sharpening and my first earplugs.

Ooh and an elementless jewel!

Nothing super fancy like attack or protective polish but at least useful.

To be fair I have found the basic poison resist decos very useful for rathian and rathalos.

Nearly 90 hours in, slowly working on the end rank bows and I have these momentary flickers of interest in other weapons... But I can never be bothered. Love bow so much.

My latest set for speedrunning with hammer: 100% crit rate on weakspots with affinity booster. White sharpness with PP. Just kill it before both affinity booster and PP wear off :^)
Only gripe is that if I had 1 more attack decoration I could get 8 extra true attack by swapping the weapon augs to 2x attack and swapping critical eye skills for max might 2

Possible you are confusing orange numbers with Weakness Exploit activation zones?

There is actually a formula for the color of the damage numbers. I don't know exact numbers but it is based on multiplying weapon sharpness with monster hitzone. If it breaks some threshold, the numbers are orange, if not they are white. For example, diablos legs normally show white numbers when hit, but if you have white sharpness you get orange numbers.
Yeah I know, but it's still relatively easy with LS. I tried with Light bow gun and can't hit his head's weakspot for shit. xD
By the way your hammer build is pretty much exactly what I have for my Divine LS build, except I don't have 3 crit boost gems. :P Oh, and no protective polish gem either. Man you got lucky lol.

Nergigante was not fun :-/

My bro (DS) and me (HH) had a whole bunch of trouble. Some of his attacks seem completely unavoidable, particularly in confined spaces. That dive-bomb and those shards he flings out of the ground home-in every time, half my HP a pop. It's bullshit, he did not hit me, it's not true, it's bullshit.

Whenever Nergigante gets ready to dive bomb (black spikes): sheath your weapon, run away (when they start flying), and jump. By doing this you will jump and fall on your belly. This nets you a ton of iframes.

The dive bomb is telegraphed with his scales turning all black, so be on the look out for that. And start using superman dives to evade (Sprint away from enemy and Dodge). You are completely invincible during it and can fully avoid the dive bombs and spikes.

On some moves, he shoots spikes out to the side, so you want to superman dive away regardless of if you are in the path or not because you might be getting hit from the spikes.
