I never completed this game. Whilst I enjoyed it lots I ended up quitting. It kinda felt hollow looking at tips to defeat the bosses (they are hard) and then I got into fight with this fella on top of a tower and the area is so small to fight in that I continuously kept falling off or just getting smacked about by him.

Not sure wether to re download.

I used the Stakedriver on my first playthrough, all the way to the end of the DLC. And you can get it pretty early if you don't mind killing (and probably cheesing) an NPC.
Hmm, that's interesting. I disregarded that weapon almost immediately since I didn't see any real benefits to it. I'm definite going to give it another shot before deciding on what to use. I'm also anxious to take a look at the DLC weapons, and perhaps some others that I never bothered with such as the Reiter-whatever-it-was-called.

If I don't want to spoil myself on the weapons available in the DLC, is there anything REALLY standout in there that I'd want to use? And if so - without naming it - how should I spec for it?

Man... I'm really itching to play this right now but a friend has my copy.

Just skip him. You can come back later and try to fight him then when your a higher level and it should be much easier then.

My only advice would be the one of a famous green guy: learn how to
DOOOOOOODGE!

I rather liked the cane, it was unique and powerful enough, if not as broken as the saw blade.
Also has the added benefit of making you focus on skill (the Stat), meaning you can switch to the blade of mercy when you find them and shred everything to bits once you upgraded them.

Nice! I look forward to finding them!

This game is so much deeper than I initially imagined/perceived before reading up on it and being a LTTP player.

The best DLC weapon is right before the final boss and is skill based.

A really fun but very limited blunt weapon is midway through the first area and is pure strength.

There's a super versatile weapon that you can get after backtracking from the second area that benefits from mostly skill.

Ugh so i have NOT played this supposedly amazing game yet. The reason being that i once tried to get into Demon Souls back in the PS3 days... suffice to say i got my ass whopped pretty bad pretty early on and i left it at that and gave up on the whole Souls type games. Should i still give this game a try even if the overwhelming challenge will probably be a turn off factor for me?

PS+ is giving BB for free now?

TIME FOR INVASIONS

Good luck invading anyone in BB lol. Only areas I ever had consistent success invading were was in nightmare of mensis and nightmare frontier. Every other place you'd wait like 15 minutes for a game and you'd enter and they'd challenge the boss or fall off from a cliff and die. Was really annoying trying to invade in BB.

I mean you get basically an unlimited demo for it with ps+ so why not give it a try, the worst thing that will happen is that you waste some of your time installing it.

Be warned though, it's been a while but IIRC they're hard to find. Namely if you inadvertently attack one Npc, you miss out on them.

Ok so I looked it up....

It is from the Eileen the Crow quest line. I already talked to her twice initially, I remember the mark and the gesture... so I need to go through her line to get the badge.

There's also the fact that most of us know the location of the bell ringing lady, so we try to kill her ASAP to avoid invasions in co-op games.

The only places with gauranteed bell women are those two. This isn't like Dark Souls, a bell ring woman has to spawn and I dont think they ever will outside those two without the people summoning someone.

You have no idea how much I envy those experiencing this for the first time. No idea.
I wish I could erase my memory of it and experience it a second time.

Though the first time I beat it I only did it with the dupe exploit for coldblood and got to like level 150 before
Shadow of Yharnam lol

I asked this in the PS+ thread, but I guess this is a better place. Is there a limit gap between players if we wanna play together? Couple of friends will finally play this, and I want to play with them. But my character is already on NG+ and I don't know if I could play with them or I need to create a new character.

This was me for years. Until 2013 or something like that when I give it a last chance and DeS finally clicked for me.

yeah pvp in bloodborne was such a disappointment

and making a competitive character was a huge pain in the ass because of blood gems and chalice dungeons

actually it was so bad that it's stopping me from jumping in again for the plus player base boost

There's a password system that lets you play exclusively with friends and I believe de-powers you to their power range.

Yeah invasions are kind of wack in BB but I do get a good amount of action on my BL44 BLT Twink at Forbidden Woods.

True, True.

Right but even then it takes so long to connect. Its hardly even worth trying. And like BrickArts said, most people already know where the Bell Ringing woman spawns so they just run there and kill her so they don't have to worry about invasions ruining their co op session so then you have to wait even longer. Also, its not all that fun to fight three people at the same time when they are jumping away from you and healing constantly.

Ah, perfect. Thanks for the info. We will try this. One of my friends tried the game once and hated it 'cause he got lost at the very beginning (he somehow missed getting a weapon and keep blaming the game). So, i wanna help them to give the game a fair try.

No problem! Yharnam is pretty twisty for a first level so that's understandable.

gemless pvp was awesome, and yeah getting those high-level gems was a huge pain in the ass but that was what made me appreciate the chalice dungeons, if they'll ever make a sequel i hope they don't throw away that concept.

Yeah, my buddy helped me in the very beginning with the Cleric Beat and Father Gascoigne. He already platted it, and was well into another game. I just had to get the Beckoning Bell first.

Yeah, to be honest. It was hist first Souls game, so I can understand why he got super confused with everything.

You get it as soon as you get 1 insight, right?

Yes, you can summon anyone on any level with password yet your summon will be scaled according to the host stat

Cool. I will let him get the insight and host us.

That was my issue with it, lol.
I got the brooch and wanted to return it to the girl on the other side of the window, but could not find her again. When I boot it back up I will look for her.

And now after reading up all the alternatives, I am not sure what I want to do now, lol.

Probably tell her the place (Oedon Chapel) is safe and to go to it.

Even some of the side quests are deep!

Yes, as a gift from the messengers.

Oh yes, the gem farming. What a pain in the ass. Thank god for the glyph codes. Would probably still be trying to get gems now without them. Never did get enough cursed fools gems to make a build of it because I kind of got tired of farming for them.

Project Beast was the most hype thread ever, good times.

Good god, that thread was crazy.

This is a good PSA: If you are co-oping and aren't in your co op partners level range, the game will delevel the shit out of you so be careful when co oping. So try to stay in level range or you'll do like 20 damage and get one shot by the most basic enemies.

I guess thats just what you get for trying to invade people :)

It can be fun. But yeah, seems like BB is built more around pve than pvp.

I was gonna type up directions, because I know all the ways there, but as soon as I started to think my brain just immediately stopped working. Yharnam is possibly the most confusing area in the game aside from one other a bit later.

Oh man, you're on the brooch sidequest? Good luck there buddies!

Are we sure this is exclusive?

What a thread that was. Everything about it was epic. The leaks, the meltdowns, everything!

Yes, it is both funded and co-developed by Sony themselves. It's been out for 3 years, if it was ever gonna come out on something else it already would have.

It's a reference to a thread in the old place. The project was leaked (Project Beast) and everyone was asking this, as most refused to believe it was a PS4 exclusive

Apologies!
