Yeay, Erina makes the main dish, there is hope for this manga.

Life #1-80

A great manga. Keiko Suenobu never disappointed me. Her art continues to be pretty unique in her demography and her melodrama is amazing. You feel these characters and their emotions way too much. At the same time, here she continues with her topics and thematic about bullying, something that I'll always valorize and here she continues to do well. Also, she does other themes like self-mutilation and other heavy themes.

Life has a great protagonist, a good antagonist, a great story and it connect with you very well along with it's drama and after the pay off, the superation. Hope, Limit and Vitamin were also pretty good/great but Limit I think it's her best in talking about those themes and how she does everything.

K, took me some months to digest Devilman but tonight I decided to start some classics on a whim.

So the first volume of Jojo was nice but also pretty greatly boring as expected. I knew in advance what to expect and I have a great distaste for the hero's life turning to trash at every step of the way in the most outlandish way possible type of plot. It became interesting when the author stopped dogpiling Jotaro but that was also the end of the volume.
Then some other thread inspired me to read Hunter X Hunter volume 1 and I must say that for the time being I take great pleasure following this quirky little world. Some panels are really nice to look at and the characters are enticing.

Some good manga reads tonight. I would like to read Berserk too but the more I add to the pile the more I risk dropping everything. Let's be real, I will drop everything, I don't know how you can catch up on series with hundreds of chapters, unfortunately.

New haikyu match will go on at least for 2 years.

I'm glad Love & Lies' anime ended before they animated the current shitfest of a arc in the manga. I was also feeling really bad for the guy that got cucked because he couldn't make a life altering decision on the spot without being giving time to really think about it. However, now I realize he dodged a bullet and I feel bad for him for other reasons.

The newest chart for here is great, Boruto continues to keep Naruto performing well (though even more shocking since it is way above One Piece) and same for HeroAca.

So happy I splurged and got the big two volume box set. The art alone deserves it.

It's a widely accepted fact that there aren't enough manga with ghost heroines. It's similarly accepted that there's a shocking lack of manga with gothic lolita heroines. Luckily, however, the stars have aligned today to bring us a romcom with a female lead who encapsulates both of these traits. And who also seeks to create a harem for her male co-star, so that he can father scores of children blessed with a genetic capacity to see her. My expectations are low, but I'll be damned if I'm missing anything with a setup like this.

I originally started watching the drama for this a while back not realizing it was based off an Akiko Higashimura manga, but just couldn't find myself getting into it at all. I'd bought the first volume in Japanese but put off reading it since I figured it'd be pretty dense - I didn't realize there was even a translation for it at all. The basic story and characters are the same, but wow, what a ridiculous amount of charm, wit, and self-determination they cut from these women for the sake of upping the drama and making them seem more palatable.

I don't know if I'll write more about this or not, but I'll say Akiko Higashimura is an absolute genius in modern women's manga. She has a such a great understanding of people and brings them to life in her characters, especially the women so often botched in fiction (and evidently even if its own adaptation!). Not to mention the advice afterwards are some of the realest roasts I've ever read. Even if you're not a 30 year old Japanese woman looking to get married before the Tokyo Olympics, reading this you'll feel like the absolute garbage as if you were one. But read through to the end, it's well worth it.

If Senzaemon's shit-eating grin doesn't just scream "All According to Keikaku" I dunno wtf does. Still loving the Soma and Erina getting along stuff, myself, though. It kinda stinks that this arc has hit it's hypes stride right when I can't wait for it to be over.

The MimiRiri confrontation was about as bloody as you'd expect, i.e. not in the slightest now that the happy couple have reunited. Assuming festival time continues into the next chapter, I'm expecting to see fireworks and first kisses.

Maou-jou de Oyasumi 56

The line between friend and futon is a tenuous one indeed. On the plus/minus side, this chapter taught me a great deal about demons' excretory functions.

This is making me laugh my ass off. The entire community was bitching about how the maid should win because it was too obvious Adagaki would get the guy. So then the maid wins and the fanbase gets mad that Adagaki didn't win.

I tuned out from this after a few episodes of the anime and seeing not much seemed to change in the later manga chapter but holy shit thats hilarious. Face turn? Did he actually double down and commit to being a douchebag like he promised in the begining or something?

The "face turn" is an old wrestling term for when one of the characters goes from being an ass to becoming a "good guy" through character shifts, sometimes gradual but usually sudden and blatant (the opposite being a "heel turn" where they become a "bad guy").

Aki is the character in question, she goes from being a completely awful person (much like Queen in Girls of the Wild's) to actually caring about Masamune, but despite the "face turn" she's still a fucking jerk to most people (unlike Queen who just becomes a sweet dorky rich girl).

As sad as I am about this series ending, I'm glad it's going out on a high note and the author didn't decide to drag things out. I've been so disappointed with anime and manga as out of the many I've read / watched, only a small handful had a satisfying conclusion. I'd love an extended epilogue. Maybe the anime OVA will deliver on that front? One can hope.

Basically, Aki found out about the revenge plan (but nobody knows yet) and there's been some feels moment between Masamune and Yoshino, Yoshino and Aki. In the latest chapter Aki was actually nice to Masamune and said bye.
