Hello ERA from a frigid PPL Park (I refuse to use the new name because it doesn't roll off the tongue as nice)

No it doesn't.

Goddamn the wind sucked today. But a solid win overall.

Gahhhh thanks for this. I tried to get a picture from the other side (it was in front of my section) and failed.

Tomorrow's Caps home opener is set to be the largest home opener in terms of attendance in Whitecaps history, dating all the way back to 1974

25k-27k is expected (my girlfriend and I will count as 2 of those!)

Finally home! Had hockey after the TFC game. SJ looking strong early... or Minnesota gunna Minnesota on defense I suppose.

TFC was really poor today, and Giovinco/Altidore esp. have not been good over the last two games (this game plus the Colorado home draw). Hopefully they can figure out against Tigres or its not gunna be pretty. This game was a classic trap game tho so maybe best not to be too worried.

I think a number of things contributed to the loss today: offseason rust, the cold, the 1pm start (seriously, that's gotta throw a wrench into your game-day routine), the field.

If Seba's post hit went in and if Jozy's gift backpass went in, that was a draw. We didn't get the bounces but I've certainly seen worse from TFC. Hell, we drew 4 of our first 5 last year. I'm not terribly worried, nobody gets a perfect season. Plus, at least we're not Atlanta.

Quakes frontline has looked pretty good but that defense is leaky. Need to get that sorted out.

Glad to get the win.
Quintana injury doesn't help. He looked like a beast
Yeah, they don't have much depth at the moment. Wouldn't be surprised to see them pick up a TAM level center back at some point since Dawkins is gone now and his salary is off the books. Hopefully Qwiberg is an upgrade on Salinas sooner rather than later, too.

I think LAFC could do well if central defense holds up. It looks like they've got a good 11, just a matter of health I guess.

EDIT: DAMN! How did LAFC not score there?

Goddamn, Vela is sick. LAFC is going to be something when they finally get around to finishing their roster. Or was that Rossi?

In case people were not aware, six teams - USA, Mexico, Honduras, Panama, Costa Rica, and Trindad and Tobago have been given a bye past the qualifying round of the CONCACAF Nations League.

Full details will be revealed on Wednesday.

In other news, the Uruguay FA President says four CONCACAF teams will feature in the 2019 Copa America in addition to a European and Asian national team (plus the usual CONMEBOL members of course).

LAFC needs to work on some of that set piece corner defense, could have easily been 2 or 3 to 1, but Vela got robbed on that penalty too. Nice to see Rossi and Vela showing out in their MLS debuts.

LAFC could have had three if not for the no-call on the penalty and that early header that hit the inside of the post yet somehow bounced out. They have a lot of work to do defensively, but they looked pretty good in the attack.

Yeah I tuned in late and missed Blessing's almost goal too. They have some real talent up front.

Given what he's got so far, if I were Bob, I'm using that last DP slot on a D-mid. I'm still afraid they might have the same issue Atlanta does, remember that this was a Sounders B-side.

In my seat in the stadium for the SKC and NYCFC game.

I don't post much lately, but I'm jazzed and wanted to drop by say hey and good luck everyone on your seasons. Well, not THAT much good luck, but y'know.

Ditto! Hope you are enjoying the match. The end of the first was..........something. :)

I don't even know what to say about that SKC...well what the hell I'll go ahead and call it a set piece. It was clown shoes. Rightfully should have been 2-0. Thought Villa had it until "thank you very much-a Mr Lobato" showed up.

I'm just glad a shitty Vermes team is losing by multiple goals for once... may it happen 33 more times so everyone who has ever suggested Vermes for USMNT coach can be mocked.

I stopped following MLS (I wasn't very into soccer to begin with) before NYCFC joined the league. But I happened to think about MLS a few days ago and noticed the season begins this weekend so I decided to at least watch the NYCFC game. That was definitely a wild ride lol. Maybe I'll casually follow MLS again. Don't know yet if I'll cheer for NYCFC over NYRB.
