I'm sorry. That's exactly what I was afraid would happen. And yeah, the HUGE amount of AP you get for beating the last couple of bosses is such a tease considering the majority of players already have a clear data save file they won't want to sacrifice. I don't know why the game can't just roll back your MSQ completion but not touch your side quests when you jump back to Chapter 14. They fucked up pretty badly there.
Exactly, they could have atleast mentioned it at the end (when you finish the game) that saving would erase side quests/map...I would have just closed the game then :( I was like 3 trophies away from a platinum to, theres a trophy for completing 80 side quests....I had done around 70, would I have to do all of them again or could I do just the 10 more for the trophy?
Side quests and things related to them are erased (like the regalia progress) but some content remains. Maybe that counter for the 80 side quest trophy is still active?
It actually DOES mention it...but specifically when you USE chapter select. It should've mentioned it again when it asks you to save your clear data.
And I think it's a "total number" one, not a "you need to do these 70 specifically" trophy, so you could try that.
Big Picture? It does that, sometimes. This games making me think I oughta turn off achievement popups, entirely.
Yeh I remembered way afterwards that it was mentioned on the chapter select, but I had forgotten about that after finishing the chapter :( I just want to find that quest where I can upgrade my car to fly, sucks without it
Glad you kept it lol. Really like the camera work and close up action.
This is why you keep multiple save files, and back them up every now and then. I think the main issue here is that chapter select is done via the main menu, and doesn't let you pick a save file to continue from - hence why it overwrites your progress? They could and should have made it so that you "warped" between chapters within the save file itself.

Decided to listen to some of the new songs added for the Royal Edition while I work through my play-through on PC.... jesus christ they're so good.
Just picked up FFXV and want to jump in again and see how it compared to my last experience on PS4 Pro.
I have a i7 6700k, 1070 GTX, and 32GB of Ram and use my 4K HDR TV as a primary display for my PC Tower. What kind of resolution am I going to be able to run this game at a consistent 60fps? What preset / settings do folks recommend?

Started a new game on the Xbox One X, didn't get Stand By Me at the beginning, but aside from that it's been great. AP seems to be much more plentiful than when I played it at launch on the PS4,
Is the lock-on system always been like this? I'm pretty sure I'm holding the lock button (L1 on control type C) but my target keeps switching. It's so slippery.
That's soft lock. To hard lock, you need to press R3 with the default controls. Not sure of other ones.
If you're playing on ps4 you press R3 for hard lock on. Although, there's benefits to playing it with a soft like teleporting behind an enemy or warping away from danger..since hard lock on aims straight to the enemy when you warp.

I see. It's been a while I've already forgotten even the basics lol.
On the steam version you can swap the music files and have different music play at different parts. Seems to be a trial and error trying to find the right song file though. This guy got Somnus playing as the battle theme, he listed the instructions in the video info page. Pretty cool, I was getting tired of the Leide battle music.

Considering how badass his bros are, they had to do something.
Found this mini breakdown
Activation - L1+R1 , aoe knockback
Square+ direction - Warp dodge , short and lots of i frames
Hold Square - revolving swords , blocks incoming damage
Press square right before getting hit - Ex version of Holy spell, but now it has long distance warp and the revolving swords spin around extremely fast for extra damage
Square on parry prompts - stab with all floating royal arms
Triangle - Short glide , fewer i frames than dodge but longer distance covered (note that there is no mp or meter consumption so it can be spammed as much as you want)
Lock on + Triangle -
Close to enemy > E3 trailer lance spin with aoe crossbow fire and a shield smash as start up
Medium Distance > teleport double slash
Long Distance > Similar to Mace's Warp strike
Combos
Circle - warp to two slashes with engine blade, can be held or pressed to continue comboes
> at medium distance , flick L stick towards enemy with circle - roundhouse slash with aoe and some small stun
Circle + Back > dodge backflips (different from the sword flips)
Circle + Left/Right > vertical slash that leads to aerial
The Circle > Triangle Finishers
The finishers can be chained into each other. But the 2nd finisher of the aerial and the 3rd finisher for the ground combo will always end the combo
The base combo goes kind of like this
Twin slash (1)> spinning slash (2) > stab(3) > dragoon jump(4)
to initiate finishers you need to time triangle differently based on which stage of the combo youre on, the white aura noctis releases starting from (2) is your cue. Do NOT press triangle at the aura release , the timing is more akin to wait-cancels in Tekken. So when noctis releases the aura after 2, wait for half a second before you press triangle. Wait too long and the combo will end, mash triangle and the combo will end. If you manage to do it successfully noctis will do a combo with the greatsword that ends with sort of gravity spell with magic swords damaging everyone in it, then as soon as you can, press circle again for 3, the timing for this is harder because the next attack is initiated after a warp so your window between the warp and stab is very little. its a combo with luna's spear.The 4 takes place half a second after the dragoon stab. The timing is very lenient here because there are no follow ups, just dont press circle after the stab. Its a combo with noctis dual weilding the engine blade and the father's sword.
This whole process is the strongest attack for this armiger afaik.
Reason being , none of the finishers drain meter , instead they actually stop the armiger from draining, their damage is comparable to the lv 1 or 2 limit breaks that noctis gets and you can let them charge while youre using said finishers at no cost. Finally they give you plenty of iframes and histun.
The aerial version of this combo is a safer alternative, as its 1st finisher has tracking (shoots all swords at once and the 2nd finisher has the most lenient timing with great damage (aerial combo with the dual blade, shuriken and a finisher with the chainsaw greatsword )
Limit Breaks
Royal Cleave - Similar to Squall's blasting zone - 1 bar
Apocalypsis - Basically Ragnarok from kingdom hearts but with a cooler cannon like charging animation - 2 bars
Dynastic Stance - Same as the last armiger where weapons appear and auto stab enemies alongside your combo, now has a cool start up animation - 2 bars (is cancelled with finishers)
Legacy of Lucii - Lengthy Omnislash like attack - 3 bars , very high damage.

Best Strategy ive found so far (assuming you have the season pass) , new armiger lasts for an extremely long duration and has its own tech bar. So prior to starting , have armiger accelerator equipped, this blocks your tech bar and speeds up armiger charge , as soon as the armiger bar is filled , switch to tech accelerator. This way your tech bar will always be lv3 by the time you end the ground combo with all finishers. Helped me wipe the floor with final trial (camp training ) at just lv 50. Note that keeping the armiger accel equipped may extend armiger duration, i haven't tested it thoroughly enough but it seemed to last longer. That said , imo its not worth it , it lasts long enough as it is and the limit breaks are plenty useful themselves.

The game doesn't treat Insomnia as a dungeon anymore, which means you can warp outside of battle in it now, which is great. Only problem it only works if you choose it from chapter select. Otherwise you still can't warp.
On the top of that, post-game Insomnia doesn't burn like in Chapter 14, but it still uses the theme of burning Insomnia instead of Somnus, which looks really awkward.
Hope they clean up that stuff with a patch.

I don't know if HDR is working or not. When I load up my game the screen flickers black like it does on my PS4 Pro when loading a game when it changes the display mode for HDR Color. This happens every time when games like Gran Turismo Sport or Horizon : Zero Dawn start up and my TV has a pop-up that says HDR enabled so I know it's working here.
However there is no indication in the PC Graphics Display options that HDR is actually turned on or not. In Mass Effect Andromeda and Forza 7 I have actual in-game settings to let me know that HDR is enabled but there doesn't seem to be anything like this for FFXV Windows Edition.
