You know there's one thing that has been on my mind about her but I unsure whether it fits her or not. Is Rachel Dolezal racist?

Yes.

She's a white woman who has distilled blackness to stereotypes while talking down to black folks about how they aren't "black enough".

It's astonishing to me that this is even in dispute, and it's disgusting that people are still giving her legitimacy. I'll be cancelling my Netflix and letting them know this is the reason why.

So I just saw the trailer.

My takeaways:

1. Netflix is spending too much and is buying/developing content at an insane pace.
2. The son is wiser than his mother.
3. Why did it have to be about Rachel? Did Netflix thing this would make a great redemption piece?

I'm not arguing that she hasn't done some horrid shit, but I don't see the scenario where she woke up one day and just cooked this up as a scam because it ain't exactly paying off for her.
As I stated, this is a con that got out of hand. I am willing to bet this was a Soulman situation that got way out of hand and now she's trying to use it to make money.
It's kind of paying off because people are entertaining this shit and she has a Netflix special, next stop is a reality tv show. This shit is a long con.

I live in Washington. Every six months or so we get a story about how she's broke and nobody will hire her.

She doesn't need more attention.

I wonder if she's gonna change things up?

Is the awakening of her (Malcom)X-Gene still tied to her parents allegedly mistreating her?
Are lighter-skinned Blacks and Latinx people still not Black and Latinx enough to talk about issues that Black and Latinx people face?
Are Black people still not educated enough to understand "Trans Racialism"?
Is her (Black)brother still not really Black because he wants to be a Cowboy and there weren't any Black Cowboys?(There were, lots actually)
Rachel is basically the real life version of all those nerds who claim to be Japanese on videogame forums.
Those guys typically like Japanese people though.

That's kind of sad, though she did/continues to do it to herself. I can see why no employer would want to hire someone with constant (and mostly negative) press around her.

I feel bad for her kids though. That dude is so fucking embarrassed by this situation.

Maybe they could make some kind of documentary about her and we could watch it to get a better picture of whether she has mental illness or not.
I don't think it's a mental illness. I just think she "identifies" with black culture more and has come to the wrong conclusion that this must mean that she is "transracial" (which is such a horrible slap in the face to trans people). I think many people may identify with black culture more than their own, but only an extremely small amount (clearly) go to the extreme like she has.

She thought she could get away with it, and I guess it worked for awhile, but it has caught up to her and now she's trying to justify it.

Is there any information on who's doing this documentary, other than "Netflix Original"? I recently watched "Get Me Roger Stone", but I can't recall if that documentary had the same label.

Yeah, no. That clip was harder to watch than the Bachelor finale. Poor kid is being put through all this for no good reason at all.

I don't want to come off like I'm saying what she's doing is ok, or that I'm finding excuses for her.

Occam's Razor says you're probably correct. All I'm saying is that this seems like such a bizarre thing and in your words got out of hand to such an absurd degree that I want to know more on the off chance that there IS more to know.

The part that gives me pause is, how could you continue to run this game that's clearly tearing your son apart?

If there's nothing more to it then more fool me, and fuck her.

She has proven time and time again that she doesn't care about black folks. Why would her son be any different? She created the situation he is currently in and it would go away if she would just stop with her nonsense, but it is clear that she's unwilling to do that.

You hit the nail on the head! I feel like a rational, sane person would just fucking stop!

Maybe I'm just in denial that a person would intentionally fuck up their kid's life in such a deep, deliberate way. Like I know it happens, but it's just depressing to think about.

While documentaries about bad people can often be interesting, I can also totally see why people would object to this particular bad person being given a platform.

Personally I'm not sure what there is left to be said. I have a feeling the documentary is primarily going to be a sad look at a family made miserable by a selfish, delusional woman.

She is just the worst. I hate that people continue to give her a platform. I saw that clip with her son and he is just completely disgusted with her like the rest of the black community.

They(Netflix) were thinking people would talk about it and watch the movie. They're a business. So far, its working.

The Chappelle jokes about Rachel were hilarious. I want to know how much Rachel got paid.

A white woman got a book and TV deal for pretending to be Black while actual Black people go through hurdles galore to get access to such platforms. Only in America could this lunacy happen.

She managed to profit off while doing damage to two communities she's not part of: Black folk and Trans folk...

She's literally the embodiment of privilege.

This facinates me.

I'm not black so I certainly won't presume to speak on how offensive what Dolezal purports to "be" is to y'know, actual black people.

But I somehow think that maybe;

1. She actually believes and feels what she says she does
2. There's no malice, subversion or manipulation in her heart

I think she's likely incredibly ignorant and whilst I understand the vitriol she attracts, part of me wants to give her the benefit of the doubt.

I'm not defending her and I'm not on her side, but I do reserve judgement.
It's not any Black person though. It's specifically. African American Black. There's a reason for that. This phonemenon has been documented for over a century but not to this extreme, or if it has occured they were capable of passing and nobody noticed or said anything.
