imagine if the "teaser trailer screenshots are spoilers" people on ERA had this level of dedication

I don't know if this is healthy but I would love to filter out the news of this adminstration from my daily life if I could.

It actually makes sense that he is more healthy now, not having to deal with the constant bullshit news everyday sure has to make it worse.

Sounds like a friend of mine. Height of privilege that you can just shut out the world because your 99% sure nothing is really going to affect you.

At first I was like "surely this man has a job" and then I saw that he's a retired Nike executive and suddenly it all made sense that he could just fuck off to Ohio and still wear nice suits

It's probably for the best. What piece of news directly affects you or is something that you can do something about? It's rare. Especially with Trump. There's really not much benefit to being very informed, practically. Hell, there's a bunch of posters on here that have given up on life because they read the news too much (there's an active thread right now).

It's not healthy but I would still do it in a heartbeat if I could.

It's honestly at the point where just seeing "Dona-" in a headline makes my stomach churn.

If you're not being affected by it and you're not going to do anything to change it - yeah, may as well turn it off.

I know someone who wanted to do something like this. It's not very healthy...

I'd never go as extreme as he did, but I can understand it. And there's a tiny bit of me that's envious.

After Trump's win, like most people I was flooded with news about him constantly. Not just big news, but "Trump likes his steak well-done" type shit that's literally only shared so you can hate him even more.

I still read the news and talk about it with people, but it's something that I had to take a break from in the months following his win. It was just too much and too annoying.

Title should read "rich former executive ignores news that wouldn't hurt him anyway."

Ignoring this shit isn't a luxury for normal people.

To be honest I try to isolate myself from much of the Trump news and other terrible shit happening. I still see headlines and such, and many times that's all you need but fuck I'm tired of directly going out of my way to take in terrible fucking news by watching news or opening a newspaper. And I actually think I'm a better person for it.

I saw that on my feed. Reading it pissed me off at the author. Burying our head in the sand is not the liberal fantasy.

I often wish I had never heard the name Donald Trump.

Eh, I dunno what's so bad about the guy. All he ever did wrong in life was dodge the Vietnam draft, star in The Apprentice despite being a complete disaster of a businessman and become President of the United States by spewing more hateful rhetoric and blatant lies than Boris Johnson during Brexit.

What's not to love about the guy? I certainly don't see why you'd want to block yourself off from all news because of him.

I dunno, its kinda endlessly depressing and draining to keep reading endless bad news and seeing how the world keeps getting worse and worse.

Ignorance is bliss a suppose. Enjoy your isolation while the people around you suffer.

Watching news is bad for the mind/brain. It's a constant barrage of negativity being blasted 24/7. I remember Vice did a documentary on this lonely old lady living alone in Siberia. The reporter asked about lack of television and news, her response was something along the lines, "why do I care? how does it affect me?" It was great to hear

fuck news

I consumer too much news, info and it can be debilitating when we intake too much news/info where we are helpless to do anything about.

living our own lives without news perhaps is the best way to be productive

I do sometimes wonder what it would be like to shut everything out for your own sake. News is very depressing, especially right now in the west.
