I don't know how more people aren't straight up sick of shotguns. Probably like 70% of encounters in this game result in building ramps at each other and shotgunning which of course is complete RNG in whether you'll do 200 damage or 9 damage.

Shit sucks bad.

I am. I think it will eventually lead to me getting bored with the game. People aggressively push you because they're either an expert with shotguns, or they know shotgun battles are a crap shoot and thats their best chance of winning. I'd love to see what happens if they put all shotguns in the vault for like a week.

But the pro players would probably get mad that they couldn't do impulse grenade 1-shit pumps from the air so... I doubt it will ever happen.

I don't think shotguns should go away entirely, and while I'm fine with the close range damage they do, they could definitely use a drop in range. I've seen too many nutty shots at range with them. Though generally I don't think the problem lies with shotguns as much as it does on the way building currently places so much of an emphasis on closing the distance, which then promotes bringing out the shotguns.

It's BECAUSE you can use building to close distance that shotguns are so prevalent. If you're the type of person that prefers longer range battles, there's literally nothing you can do to stop people from ramp pushing you. They will close the distance and it will then be a shotgun battle.

Had some really great rounds of squads tonight. Ended the night on a high note after our 3rd win in a row. Last game the circle ended on the center of Loot Lake. We got really fucking lucky and had a launch pad on hand. Launched ourselves to the house in the middle of the lake, killed one guy camping by himself, and then just rained down endless shots down on the poor team set up below on the shore with the circle closing behind them.

It's nice when once in a while the game just unfolds perfectly.

All gold mode is GOAT just for no shotguns. Should've been permanent along with 20v.

Or just take out the damn tac shotgun and headshot bonus.

I don't think it' RnG. If you place a good shot it should do high damage. A lot of ppl miss their shot and blame RnG. Of course there is bloom and legitimate bull shit that happens but I feel like the number of times it happens is highly exaggerated.

I'm gonna be honest, I think this kind of game is just not for me. I've really given it a shot, but my experience so far has been either dying really quickly in a populated spot, or going out of the way and going for a long time without seeing anybody whatsoever. I understand this kinda game is more about the "cool moments" than just winning, but I've gotten to top 5 or 10 several times and it's just not really rewarding. I don't have enough of those epic moments to have fun. That plus all the bloom discussion is a bit off putting, plus I haven't really gotten to this point but it seems a lot of people are tired of the whole shotgun business.

I dunno, I wish I could like this kind of game more, maybe some of you can give me some different ways of approaching the game but it's not doing it for me right now.

I especially love it when my crosshair isn't aiming anywhere near a wall (no red x popping up) but my rpg blows up right in front of my face. Lost my 1v1 to a suicide.

Have you tried playing with friends? I had a very similar opinion at first, it wasn't until I played with friends that it clicked and I started to really enjoy it. I still don't really like solo much, but learning the game with friends, made whenever I do play solo at least enjoyable enough now.

I know people are talking about shotgun nerfs right now, but I wish they'd introduce a damage floor for them.

I just had an instance in 20s, where I had a purple tactical and got hits of 9, 9 (crit), and 14.

Nah, this is backwards. Its because shotguns are so powerful, and you can bunnyhop with them that make stair pushing so prevalent

Shotguns encourage the CQC aggressiveness and everybody is forced to go along with it. If you played Solid Gold, ramp pushing was not common because without shotguns, you were left to rely on pistols, meaning you couldn't jump around and were an easy target.

They need to combine the shotguns and adjust rarity:

Green-Blue: Tactical
Purple: Pump or Tactical variants

No grey shotguns, no gold shotguns.

You can straight up 1 shot enemies with a pump headshot. For its immense power, it should be a Purple weapon. Its not hard to use by any means, and just forces a shotgun meta.

I know Epic wont do it, but I think it'd be a much better way to control the shotgun spam and open up SMGs and pistols to the CQC, reduce the aggressive spam pushing, and encourage more mid firefights.

I think the strength of wall spam causes it frankly. Wall spam is too strong. Honestly, wall spam might be even a bigger problem than the pump shotgun now that you cannot double pump as effectively as before. Even close range wall spam is too powerful imo. Even a gold minigun cannot counter someone spamming walls and advancing on your. It's freaking dumb as hell tbh.

I don't know what it is about this game that makes me suck so bad. I'm probably 20+ hours played and winless across the board lol. Played a solid 7-8 rounds tonight and actually had some decent exchanges, but I just can't get over the hump.

This is definitely something I would like to see happen. Shotguns are so ridiculously common right now. It's not even all that rare you can find multiple shotguns in the same house. Even just having tacticals and pumps share a spot in the loot table would be nice.

I do agree with this. Wall spam is something I've never really been a fan of. Maybe an increase in damage to structures that are still in the process of being built would help alleviate some of that. I definitely feel like the attacker should have the advantage in the gun vs. wall spam battle.

Just got my 5th solo win, I can't stop my heart from pounding out of my chest haha.

But I'm getting better at holding my nerve in close quarter battles.

I have 15 wins and I've been playing for months. It is hard to win if you're just a regular Joe player.

Had the craziest match ever in 20v. Had so many spectators when it came down to 3v11 come back. Mannnnnnnnnnnnn. The spectator count in the bottom left didn't help the nerves either. Craziest win ever.

I can see that. At this point I'd settle for just 1.

As frustrated as I get at times - and I just took a two week break from it and PUBG - these two games have made me fall in love with multiplayer online gaming in a way that I haven't since CODMW and WoW first launched. I'm primarily a single player story driven gamer. But it's become such a phenomenon that all the guys at work are playing, even non hardcore gamers. I type this now at 3:30 am because I was up all night with my friends and co workers in a party, relaxing on the couch and chatting away in my headset. Reminds me of my late teens and early 20s lol (I'm 33 now, and my wife is hating this phase).

Yea I just started playing last month. Two solo wins so far but about 10+ 2nd places. Takes a lot learning and getting your butt kick in situations to learn.

Yeah solo wins are tough as fuck, even when I get to the last 3 or 4 there's always that guy who has 10-13 kills in the match already and I'm honestly not at that level yet, don't even know if I'll ever get there lol

I'm only at 23 solo wins (21 is listed because I got 2 wins when they weren't being counted this season) myself and I've played a ton. I'd say 18 of those wins came since season 3 started. I just started playing super aggressively this season and have started building a ton near the end of a match (along with random fights in the middle of the game). More than a few of those wins have come by forcing people to stay in the storm due to massive structures or building so much it comes down to a heal fight after there are no more circles.

One of the things I think is pretty cool with Fortnite is that a lot of people will keep expectating you long after they died, instead of just jumping back to the lobby. Speaks about how fun the game is to watch, I believe.

Lol, also 33, also got a SO that isn't too pleased with the amount of time I've been spending playing Fortnite :D trying to get them to play the game, though.

Yeaah... can't say I want to play this game on mobile. I guess it was inevitable given PUBG's mobile version (which I hear is quite good). But I already figured it would be too hard to play this on console after playing on PC for so long. Mobile would be... worse.

I really hope that we get a 2nd map for Fortnite and that it doesn't have another massive, centrally located POI. It not only affects the pace of action, but also my stream viewing experience. Streamers feel like they have to drop at tilted so they get enough action to be entertaining for the audience. And it gets a little old/repetitive.

I feel like there will be a Tilted no matter what the map looks like, some sort of central high loot area that people will go to. It's basically a part of the game flow at this point.

Crossplay was disabled briefly but I think it's activated again currently.

Only thing to keep in mind is that your PS4 friends will be put into PC lobbies so they'll be against kb/m players... But if they don't care (which they likely won't) then it shouldn't be an issue.

Gotcha. I assume they have to create Epic Games accounts as well and link them to their PSN account, correct?

Alright, thanks for the quick response, appreciated!
Should be noted, if they never signed up for an Epic account when they started playing, DO NOT go an register an account with the intention of linking it.

Tell them to go to Fortnite.com > Login with their PSN information > It will require them to make the ghost account a 'real' account by completing the process of making an account (username, password, etc).

Haha, I went through this whole shit myself today. When I tried to link my PSN account, I always got the error message from Epic that my PSN account was already linked to an Epic account (which..no?).

So yeah, already told them about this, but still thanks for bringing it up in case someone else is interested in cross-play

So I know this thread isn't about Save the World but there isn't a Save the World thread

is the daily quest 'Play with Others' glitched? I go to do quick play/play with others and it never counts?

Is this mousepad big enough

I feel like I need a bigger mouse pad and I dont know if I should be getting those rectangular ones or if this will suffice.

The current one I have is maybe half the size and circular

Lucky Landing is underrated. Also, whenever my team of 20 lands at Tilted Towers we get our dicks kicked in. I'm done with that lag fest of a landmark.

I'd say that's how I started. It can be discouraging but you learn from every death. Where the loot is, how to handle weapons, how to survive early in a populated area, how to handle the storm and how to make it to the end game.

My biggest tips:

- Rebind your build keys (if you're on PC). You can use mouse buttons, the Z X C keys, or anything else as long as it's easy to access.

- Continue to land in populated areas. There's no substitute for experience and having to deal with players.

- Don't camp. It might seem like an easy way to make the top 10, but you'll be left with crappy weapons and no materials. The best equipment is always held by players, so you have to get kills to loot them.

- Build aggressively. Many players will build a defensive fort in an encounter and engage in a rifle duel. You can throw a lot of players out of their comfort zone by rushing them.

Been tempted to pick up the battle pass, would it be silly buying it now in the middle of the event or wait until the next?
