why am i laughing so hard at this lmao
Zachary Quinto is my first choice as Namor. Dude just looks like him.Ok, real talk though. The other day it occurred to me how awesome it would be if Keanu Reeves was Namor. He basically plays Namor in a suit in Man of Tai Chi. Please Feige, do it.
(and release the trailer)
A media outlet in India alluded that a new one would drop tomorrow.

Dr Strange or Wanda
Number of factors.
First, it's an MCU film. Nothing needs to be said there, except it gets a boost from being associated with other franchises and characters that audiences currently care about and come out in droves to see (Wonder Woman did not have that going for her, even with her good word of mouth). It was the first solo outing for a character that audiences rated as one of the better parts of a much loved film in Civil War.
That character being the first black superhero to get a movie with the budget and marketing push of that scale made it a cultural event akin to what Wonder Woman was, except the marketing for this film was phenomenal; you'll find no articles wondering "where are the Black Panther ads?!" And as if that wasn't enough, black folks were doing a lot of work on the ground to make sure people knew this movie was coming, and to get them into the theaters; school's raised money to take children, communities bought tickets for entire showings, church groups full of elderly folks who don't give a damn about comic movies made plans to go together, and so on. Kendrick Lamar and TDE put out a (damned good) soundtrack for the movie. Social media was packed with niggas talking about what traditional and other clothing they'd be wearing for their viewings. The Infinity War trailer highlighted T'Challa and Wakanda, and this film is the last movie leading into that, an obvious event the likes of which Hollywood has likely never seen.
And all of this, before impressions got out and confirmed that Coogler and Marvel Studios had, once again, proven themselves incapable of missing. Before many praised what was obviously a brilliant cast, and stated that Marvel might've done their best work yet with Black Panther.
There was just entirely too much to like about this movie from day one, and I had absolutely no problem telling everybody I believed with all my heart it would crack a billion and hit really hard, especially in America and Africa.
Those conservative estimates for opening weekend were always smelly, because I knew they weren't accounting for the black folks who would be showing up in theaters on opening weekend who don't bother with preordering tickets. I knew to expect a great opening, but I realized just how historic the shit would be one week before release, when I flew home to Alabama to bury one of my aunts. I had a lot of conversations with elder aunts and uncles and older cousins who were extremely excited to see the movie the following week. Those estimates just couldn't account for that, but those of us with our eyes and ears open in our communities knew the deal.
That's fair and I should have seen that coming, but why do you think Captain Marvel will do 1B? Not all of the things that were there for Black Panther will be there or Captain Marvel.
Maybe they're counting villains. *cough*"More than 60 Marvel stars in all"
I thought it was going to be like 40, so that's damn impressive.
What Drafthouse is it? Times arent up for mine yet (New Mission SF).On a lark, I looked up Fandango to see what the Infinity War page looks like.
Drafthouse times are being added.
They're grayed out so you can't click them yet, but yo.
It's happening.
(Edit: Oh nice, saw the thread in regular off-topic)
New York City here, so just the Brooklyn Drafthouse has times, but again, grayed out. What Drafthouse is it? Times arent up for mine yet (New Mission SF).
Unless she shows up in Avengers this year, she ain't hitting a billion. Wonder Woman took the air out of the sails of being "the first female lead superhero movie". She's also not as well known as Wonder Woman which will ding her a bit. Wonder Woman also had incredible legs and I don't see Capt Marvel doing the same. I think she opens bigger than WW (like 110-115) and ends up around WW's numbers or (IMO) under a bit.
Hopefully the times go up in advance for me. It's hard to coordinate the best times when tickets are on sale.New York City here, so just the Brooklyn Drafthouse has times, but again, grayed out.
Likely Friday morning.
I guess in about a month
Captain Marvel doesn't have a comparable novelty factor, there is plenty of competition, it is stuck between two Avengers movies and I'm not quite sure if being closer to Avengers 4 will be a plus.Inconsequential. Not all of the things that were there for Black Panther were there for other billion dollar movies. Captain Marvel has her own advantages working for her, namely that she'll be the first female superhero for the MCU to get her own outing, and that it'll lead right into Avengers 4, which will already be heavily underway with its marketing around the time her movie releases.
She's making a billion.

She sounds like her KSD solo run.Their comments about Carol's personality in this likewise makes me think they've already changed her from being 100% the feds lmao
Yeah. After Guardians I just assume that Feige knows better than me. Thought that was gonna flop for sure. Then they announce a magic wizard and fucking Ant-Man are coming... and I'm like yeah, okay. Y'all got this. For 10 years people have continually said over and over each time a marvel film is about to come out some combination of
"people are getting burnt out on super heroes movies"
"the super hero bubble is about to burst"
"no one likes or has heard of this hero therefore it will not do well"
"this hero is B or C tier"
"this movie won't do as well as this other movies previous success"
and for 10 years in a row all of these people keep being wrong. I suppose one of these days they'll be right but it isn't going to be any time soon.
I'm all in on Captain Marvel, her movie is going to be awesome and i'm excited Kevin has expressly said she is going to be the powerhouse moving forward.
Think about that for a second, Captain Marvel is going to be more powerful than Hulk, Thor, Antman, and Doctor Strange. Go get it girl. (I have two daughters
and i'm stoked for them to have another hero to look up to that is actually powerful; no offense to the black widow lovers but she is lame).
I imagine he's doing alright for himself.I wonder how big Kevin Feige salary is, does he get percentage bonus for every movie he's producing?
Haven't seen it myself yet, trying to go in relatively blind but might be some news in it.
