Have you played PAD yet? It's sort of weird playing since it doesn't completely fill the S9+'s screen. I've been combing better with a larger screen and smoother surface though.
The games soundtrack on stereo is nice too.
Haven't fired it up just yet. In all my infinite wisdom I actually screwed up and put my account on my iPad and now I have to wait a while before I can put a code on it. I might just roll a new account in the meantime to try it out.

Getting mines tomorrow. I didn't even realize this phone was just launching.

Anyone have any tips? Usually I go in and try to disable as much bloatware as possible when I get on of these new phones.

Yeah but I'd be a little more wary of sharing literally everything with a Dev from xda forums.

Also, it isn't really basically all apps using accessibility. The only apps I have using that setting are Google services and play, T-Mobiles account app, and Samsung pay, and I can turn them off from doing that shit as needed. I also fail to see how simply remapping a button requires me to share all of my data usage with an app.

Edit: actually, I turned off sharing data usage to all apps and they all still work. So I would absolutely avoid that app. Bixby itself works without needing to have that turned on so yeah something is fucked up with that app.
Bixby is a system app thouugh.

I have an S6 since launch and haven't used a screen protector and have no scratches on it. Actually of all smartphones I see the only ones with messed up screens are from breaks/cracks that happened from dropping the phone.

I am tempted to get the S9+. Will need to see how much bigger it is than S6 and how easily it fits in my pocket.

The reason you get a tempered glass screen protector though is so that it shatters/takes the damage instead of your screen in the event of a drop. I've had enough drops to know they work, and whenever I see people with fucked up screens it's like why didn't you have a glass screen protector on there...

Swiping to the left on futhest left home screen opens bixby, or it did on the stock launcher of my S9+. I prefer to have a big Google news and weather widget on my furthest left home screen, not bixby, and I only run that and one other home screen with the apps I use most and the app drawer. The app edge is nice though and Nova doesn't disable that. I'm basically going to run it bixby free though so if you're into bixby and swiping for your app drawer the stock launcher is probably fine.
You can disable the swipe left to Bixby, at least on the S8. I can't see why they'd remove that from the S9 tho.

I'm pretty surprised how very little bloatware there is on the T-Mobile version. There's almost none and the stuff they installed is stuff I would put on anyway.

Lol yeah and then just chill with a broken screen indefinitely
I apparently have very different phone habits than you but the only phone screen I've broken in the past ~10 years was my Galaxy S5's after I'd owned it for about 2 years anyway. Small scratches, sure, but hardly noticeable when the screen is off, let alone when it's on.

Anyone else setting up their phone from scratch rather than transferring everything over from their old phone? I'm installing apps one at a time based off need to clean out unused apps. The only thing I transferred over was contacts, text messages, and call history.

I have never broken a screen/phone, ever. But I do drop my phone occasionally. A case and a glass screen protector means that doesn't matter. I'm also on JOD TMobile so my phone's have to be in pretty much mint condition so I can't take any chances. I never use insurance either and I've been doing JOD since it's inception like 3-4 years ago.

I usually do this. I know it's more time consuming but it makes the phone feel more new. Silly I know, but I have OCD and stupid stuff bothers me.

People swear by the Whitestone dome one but it's like $50. I picked up the amfilm one off Amazon and it's nice, comes with a nice guide install kit. It doesn't have 100% coverage but with a case on its pretty close. It at least has a slight curve on it too. I'll take it for $13 this close to launch. Soon there will probably be 2 pack glass ones for like $10 but they probably don't have any curve and thus have even less coverage. I've never had a glass protector with 100% coverage but I'm not willing to spend $50 on something that likely will chip or shatter with a drop and then have to get another one.

I would say if you are really really good about never having any drops don't bother, they aren't really about protecting from scratches but they are good for absorbing the brunt of the impact from a drop and shattering/chipping instead of that happening to your screen.

I've had a shit ton of phones over the year and never broken a screen before, guess I've been lucky. It's absolutely insane how many people I've seen with $1000 phones and a screen that looks like a spider Web.

Or just use a little thing called a... case

See the post directly below yours. Unless you're some kind of OtterBox monstrosity that isn't going to help you with a screen down drop. I've dropped a phone screen down chest height onto concrete and it was fine. Screen protector shattered. I have no doubt the screen would have shattered if it didn't have the the screen protector on there.

I would still rather use Nova prime for the dark theme and stock Android look. That's nice though, but I actually think I will keep bixby on the button as it does seem to be able to do a few more things than google assistant.

I have the Apple leather case, dropped my iPhone X screen first onto concrete pavement and not a scratch because the case slightly protrudes out, lips as they call it. You don't need an otter box monstrosity

Well, you got extremely lucky some grit wasn't protruding off the concrete or there wasn't a rock or something on the concrete it fell on, or the angle wasn't as lucky. I had the leather case with the iPhone 8 plus and I wouldn't feel comfortable without a screen protector. I actually went through a shattered screen protector each on the 7 plus and 8 plus with that case on it and chipping on the ones that didn't shatter. Yeah I could be more careful but you aren't going to convince me to not use a tempered glass screen protector lol. I can't trade in a phone on JOD with noticable scratching either and some shit in your pockets actually can scratch a screen if you aren't always thinking about what else you have in a pocket. I don't see why people need to convince everyone not to use a screen protector. There isn't really a right answer. I would say if you are very very careful with your stuff and you haven't had any problems not using one, don't worry about it, but if you do have drops or scratches it's probably a good idea.

With the lack of a physical home button, I just can't push myself to upgrade for what this phone is offering. Phones just get worse and worse in terms of what I actually want.

I don't understand how a physical home button can be a dealmaker/breaker. but i do feel like most phone makers need to work on their haptic feedback

Does anyone have suggestions for good live wallpapers? I've been using the Galaxy Pack for the last year but would like to try something new. It seems like the Maxelus wallpapers are generally the best ones but maybe I'm missing some.
I just downloaded an amazing samurai one from Cogul. They even sell these buttons that go with them and it's cool since even if a button wasn't made for it, it still gives apps the red background to make everything match.

Stinks you have to pay for the static wallpaper as well if you want it for your homescreen. I wish the live wallpaper worked for your home. >.>

It's there, it's just beneath the screen.

Wait for real? I was wondering how the the screen off home screen button press worked. Does it have a setting for an LED so I can see it? Lol I know it isn't technically physical but it does do a very good job with the haptic feedback, but it actually would be a good idea honestly to have an LED under there somehow.

Far as I know, there's no LED for it.

To be honest, there's no need for a light. The tactile feedback exists in the same spot it always existed on phones with physical or off-screen capacitive keys; works from anywhere as long as the phone is powered, and doesn't require a navbar to be displayed in order to be used. That's good enough for me.

Early days but I haven't seen any widespread faults or flaws coming out yet, quality control on this thing seems very good. The quality of the finish is off the charts as well, Samsung is basically Apple level or better in that department. So much better than the garbage build quality of the HTC M7 and M8 I went through.

What's the need for a physical home button? Since the S8 I haven't had a physical button there and it's made almost no difference. The spot remains as does the function.

There are cases that are better protections than screen protectors. Screen protectors don't help if your phone hits a corner or side pushing the metal into the glass.

All of the cases that provide better protection completely take away the look of the phone and make it significantly bulkier. Not really wroth the trade off to me.

Everyone with your phones, I assume there's no dead pixel issues? Reason I ask is because I plan to get tempared glass protector installed before I even bring the phone home and I have had dead pixel issues in past so don't want to waste 30 bucks only to return the phone.

I don't think this true, at all.

These anti - burst silicone cases are super easy to sell once people hold them in their hand. Besides, on the S8 at least, the case makes it much better to use the fingerprint sensor on the back.

Meanwhile I hate screen protectors

Which ones specifically? There are heaps of thin ones that look decent but I can't imagine them actually protecting the screen much from a drop. I usually use the smallest profile one from Incipio or Spigen. Stuff like Otter Box looks terrible.

I have never used screen protectors since everything starred using Gorilla Glass, partly because I can never get them on flawlessly and they make the screen look worse.

I use a Tech 21 Evo Check. The bumpers extend just past the screen, designed really to protect the screen when you put it face down.

Though in reviews it does very well indeed in drop tests. This one in particular, there are a couple of face down landings form 10+ feet up on concrete (about 5mins in to the video onwards) and the S8 is fine. Video has lots of drops from different heights on wood floor and concrete and slow mos of the impact.

Feels good in my hand and secure, like I'm less likely to drop it in the first place.
Also very easy to locate the fingerprint sensor which is my only unlock method.

I can't find them online for the S9, but these cases here https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0...+kong+case&dpPl=1&dpID=41Nw6TnUVRL&ref=plSrch

Easiest cases to sell because I drop my phone in front of customers haha.
