Weird, that was a different thread than the one I replied to yesterday to be added to about Community spotlights. ThanksPhoncipleBone you better get on top of this

Just watched the Jang review of Women of Nasa... he's a bit down on it from the start and then that rant at the end is a disaster.
Really wish I hadn't seen this. Star Wars Lego is about all I collect these days, and some of their builds are super super creative. I know there are a ton I'm missing too, so a bullet list basically becomes a very expensive shopping list. Thanks for the heads up though, really. Might grab and see what I can find "cheap enough".I've just received the Ultimate Lego Star Wars book, and from a quick look through, I think it's great. This is the one I'm talking about:
It has pictures and descriptions of I believe every Star Wars minifig, vehicle and location they've made over the last 18 years, pre-Last Jedi anyway, although it does include the latest UCS Millenium Falcon.
If you're interested to know, I got the book new but cheap from here: https://www.thebookpeople.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/qs_product_tbp?productId=752968
Urge to order out-of-print Lego sets rising... must resist...
Let us know your thoughts on the build. I found the build to be interesting and enjoyable. Ship itself is meh.
I really enjoy Jang's videos, but yes his rant was just utter garbage.
But 3D printers are totally going to put Lego out of business. Just you see.
I actually bought some rare pieces from a seller on Bricklink and I'm very suspicious of them
That Lego shouldn't release a "women" set, but a people set. That it is wrong to focus on one gender, etc etc

I really want a 3D printer, but the awful surface quality means I'll never try bricks... Besides, the costs and time involved is crazy :/But 3D printers are totally going to put Lego out of business. Just you see.
My 2c on Women of NASA topic:
If LEGO would jump into that Ideas submission and chose to replace some of the women with men, or deny it and then come with own mixed version, that would be as well as end of Ideas...
Other than that, it was not LEGO coming with that set, it was some lady scientist. It is understandable that she will come up with a topic close to her and that is women in science.
While I would immediately buy such set if it was the regular astronauts with miniatures of Mercury, Eagle module or Lunar rover, but ... neither me or anybody else came up with such Idea, put it online and get the attention. Bad luck. Anybody had the same starting chance. I would be saying otherwise it there would be a contest of 'men' or 'mixed' set and 'women' set the former lost, but it did not happen, so we can't say what would LEGO do. And posting now such set is (most probably) too late. The NASA slot is taken, but who knows, it the current one sells well, maybe ...
I think this set just show the hidden feelings that men have for women in some positions...
I'd compare it to my time on University, it was a technical faculty, ratio probably 15:1 male:female. While only very few were openly hostile, you could always hear that the good looking ones were just hunting for husbands and the other screwing the professors to get a title. It is this hidden disregard in many guys that is hard to fight... and to be honest giving the fuel to the feminists. If there would be equal treatment, those activists ladies would be not needed...
But 3D printers are totally going to put Lego out of business. Just you see.
Not sure if you are joking or not. Until 3D printers are closer to a Star Trek replicator and highly affordable, LEGO has nothing to fear from 3d printers.
And the material required to print just a single set is higher priced than the set. And more time consuming.Yeah. But it's an argument I see all the time, especially when discussing Lego prices. "Anyone could just print their own bricks".
Now let's not go on a witch hunt against Jang. It's NOT a milkshake duck. A careless or uninformed statement on something isn't automatically an endorsement. Remember that he has also pointed out and appreciated professional female figures in various sets. It's not black and white. It normally isn't with people.
I could see just2good being a bit of an asshole about it, but he's also much younger. Let's give SOME benefit of the doubt, otherwise, we'll very quickly run out of people to enjoy.
Now, if Jamie or Bessa or Psiaki state in an interview that they hate women or black people and actively try to keep those figures out of their sets, that might be something to be upset about.
Was a bit disappointed by that, too.Jang was talking about how segregating genders is wrong and people are people and all of that... but in the same statement, acknowledges the fact that contributions of women and minorities in general are underrepresented.
First off, WELCOME!Hi LegoEra !
I was in a Lego store today and while I like legos and got sole star wars sets laying around, in never quite got into the lego craze myself... until now. I loved the look of the fishermans cabin and the christmas village and would love to make a small rural town in this style.
The problem is:
1. That shit is expensive as hell ! All sets that I liked are 70+€ in here. Holy hell !
2. I don't have much place, especially if there was a train involved.
3. I'm not quite sure where to begin.
Any tips and tricks regarding space and which sets a good and not that expensive ?
Thanks:)
This is a random question...For those of you who play video games and build lego sets.
How do you decide what to prioritize especially if your free time is limited.
This is a silly problem, but I have been playing Mario and Southpark (I also have Cuphead and COD as well). On my table is Ninjago City and Ultimate Ultimate Weapon just screaming to be built! I also have palace cinema, but don't want to open it quite yet.
That's the nice thing about Switch. Whenever my wife needs to watch a show, I can just slap on headphones and continue on the couch. It depends on which sets I plan to get and when double VIP is happening next ;)
Honestly, it sometimes depends on who else is at home and what they're doing. I tend to save Lego building for weekend afternoons. I also like to build with old episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm playing in the background, which doesn't happen when the kids are home.
