Yeah. This is nothing compared to the Smash4 and Brawl pre-release cycles. The fact that we are getting it this soon is getting my hype through the roof.

I tried to compile a list of Nintendo series of two or more games, which aren't represented with a playable Smash rep, and aren't spinoffs from or have spinoffs which have a playable rep.
I'd like to go through it to confirm that everything I've listed doesn't include weird re-releases, games Nintendo only handled the publishing for outside of the owner's target territory, and other such errors.
But I'm not sure if I'll have the time later and I don't feel like saving this Notepad file, so I'll just post it as-is.

Alright fam, the time you have been waiting for. Its time for Jack Frost and a potential moveset for him!
Some hype music to get ya'll started
So in the SMT/Persona franchise, Jack Frost is an ice demon and he is widely considered the mascot of the franchise.
Lets look at his specials
His regular B attack is Bufu which is an ice projectile. In the games, Bufu is the most basic ice attack in SMT and would be a good fit as his main B attack. It would also be like Falco's blaster and would briefly stun the enemy.
His Side B special is the Sonic Punch. A common physical move in the franchise, this punch would do a good amount of damage and would push the enemy back. Too avoid the move from being spammable, Jack should also be pushed back after the punch connects.
His Up B special would be to create a pillar of ice which would propel Jack upward. The pillar would remain on the ground as an obstacle if the move was used while on the ground but would fall and shatter and damage anyone underneath it if its used in the air.
His Down B Special would be Mabufula which would operate as an ice AOE that the player can hold but will lose power if held to long leaving the player vulnerable to attacks.
His Final Smash would be Mabufudyne which would be a large ice AOE that would do a large amount of damage to multiple opponents.
His A attacks would be kicks and punches. His throws would involve blasting the throwee with ice. His charged side is a backhand. His charged Up A is an icey uppercut. His charged down A is sliding kick.

So I have no idea where that's even coming from.

Edit: Killer Instinct also is NOT a Nintendo series, that is Rare and now owned by Microsoft.

I agreed with the general that Sakurai usually reviewed the library of previous iteration to see what's new with the characters and franchises.

Thanks for sharing this! It's interesting to see a big list of Nintendo's latest releases.
My only comment is that the list is really skewed towards Switch releases and not so much the 2012 to 2014 games that Sakurai missed in the last Smash, like Nintendo Land and 3D World.
This one is a real odd one, since SimCity has been in Smash before via assist trophy. The character even made a cameo in a Zelda game!

I'd argue also that the SMT rep could be Demi-Fiend. He's easily the most iconic protagonist from SMT, and he would technically be eligible like Cloud was because he made a cameo in SMTIV Apocalypse's DLC. His attacks would be summoning different demons to do an attack, such as neutral B could be Jack Frost with Bufu (or maybe charging it up for Bufula, Bufudyne, etc.). They could also throw in neat little things involving demons, like his jab string being a couple of punches, and repeatedly pressing it summons Matador doing Andalusia (a bunch of attacks hitting quickly, similar to Captain Falcon, etc.)
Been discussing this in other places on and off for a while but last page made me realize I never put my thoughts on the thing up here. All I really want out of Smash Switch/5/6's (wtf do we call this one again?) game play is stuff that existed in Melee without actively wanting Melee's combat engine. I'm a movement kid and as such the first thing I notice in these games is how much I'm allowed to move on screen. I just want momentum conservation so that when I run forward and jump that momentum carries me a distance across the screen equal to the velocity I was already traveling at. I want the ability to crouch out of an extended run across the screen so I can poke with a low attack/down tilt and mix up a grounded opponent. Finally, I want a larger window with which I can dash in one direction then the next for baiting out enemy plays or spacing myself on the ground (dash dancing).
Literally everything else about the combat engine could be Smash 4 but these three things alone would make the experience so much more awesome to me. They're also elements that existed in older Smash games, but I made sure to omit referencing Melee since I never liked how easy it is for people to get "that person only wants Melee" from someone going "I liked these concepts from Melee (but not everything about it needs to happen)".

Dr. Wright is a Nintendo exclusive character, but the series itself is owned by EA.

That's what I meant that it's a weird one. Nintendo has some rights involved, even if it's not their series.
People will complain about Smash 4 lasting too long even though it's far shorter than Melee's top 8. Every time.

They have the rights to Dr. Wright because they developed and distributed the SNES version of SimCity. At this point, their license expired, which is why the game got removed from the Wii's Virtual Console some years back. So other than owning Dr. Wright, whom they created, Nintendo has absolutely no rights or licenses for anything SimCity.

Nintendo developed SNES SimCity with a license from Maxis and created Dr. Wright as their own character within that game, thus they own Dr. Wright.
Square developed SMRPG with a license from Nintendo and all characters created for SMRPG (Mallow, Geno, Booster, etc.) are owned by Square.
