AMD: 22.2.2
Nvidia: 511.79

📊 Benchmarks:
GameGPU (Russian; review build)
Nvidia (English; review build; ray tracing/DLSS-focused)

🎩 Tips and tricks:
Cap the frame rate/potentially improve frame times: Download RivaTuner Statistics Server (if you use MSI Afterburner, then you already have it installed), input your desired framerate limit in the "Framerate limit" box, and hit Enter . Alternatively, those with an Nvidia GPU can either cap the frame rate at the driver level via the Nvidia Control Panel (requires the 441.87+ drivers) or use Nvidia Inspector to force a vsync internal lower than one-half (click the small tool icon to open the game profile section).
Note: Useful if your system can't maintain, say, 60fps and you're sensitive to the wild fluctuations, or you're experiencing uneven frame times. The greater window the engine has to render a given frame, if you're imposing a lower frame rate than the game can otherwise provide, may also help in alleviating stuttering related to data streaming.
Fix ray tracing/DLSS being greyed out (for GOG users): Set -DX12 as a launch argument. (Credit to gitrektali.)
Fix resolution setting not respecting changes when using fullscreen: Change your desktop resolution to your desired in-game resolution prior to launching the game. (Credit to Firefly.)
Fix instability when using a VRR TV: Disable Gsync. (Credit to flyinj.)

I saw some site report that performance was pretty dire, even at 1080p. Let me see if I can find the link again.

Time to murder my 3070 I suppose.

Or at least that seems it will be the case with those 3080 numbers, whoof

Sounds like it's an absolute monster without DLSS taking away some of that load. It's even bringing 3080s to their knees.

DLSS is fun:

DLSS Quality to 1080p

1440p to 1080p

DLSS Quality to 1440p then to 1080p
1440pdlssqok92.png

The tent is invisible without it. I'd have to set it at 4k to see it without DLSS.
Also, there's a little bug, if you turn off DLSS, it sets your render scale to 200% instead of 100%.

I'm getting about 75 FPS with everything maxed except motion blur, lens flare, and RTX off with a 5800x and 6800XT. With RTX on I'm getting around 45 fps. This is in the forest environment. Oh, at 1440p.

When the split happens though, FPS drops even more (about 50fps with RTX off)

This is running on UE4 right? It has an option for Light Propagation Volumes, which was an unfinished and experimental feature only, and it was deprecated and not really meant to be used as far as I know. Did they re-implement it? I wonder if it actually makes a big difference visually, and I wonder about the cost.

Maybe I'm superstitious but I feel like iCUE is haunting my performance.

Runs better with it turned off lol.

Broken HDR on PC and now i guess it tries to sync save files with MS servers but can't for some reason( probably cross-save related with console ) and i am getting black screen right after Bloober logo.

PC gaming.... ahhh i forgot how "awesome" it can be. How the hell does one remove local save files for Game Pass games?( ...nvm... AppData\Local\Packages\... Bloober something something mumbo jumbo package id )

Played until the first dual-reality puzzle came up. Really enjoying it so far! Definitely my cup of tea!

PC settings: i7 6700k
1080 Ti
1440p

FPS is okay by my standards. Mostly around 60, sometimes dips to around 40 between transitions but it doesn't affect gameplay. Dual reality went to 30, but that's not a surprise, as it was rendering two worlds. Surprisingly, didn't really notice the change except for the counter.

Playing the Game Pass version.

Settings:

Plus Lens Flare and Motion Blur at max settings.

DLSS on LOW
resolution render 90%
RTX ON (forced rtx causes glitches)
Everything else maxed

Getting 50-90 fps depending on the scenario. In the dual reality scenes the fps drop to 45-55.

Managed to remove the camera stutter på using v sync at 60. VRR does not work in this game. 3080/C9

HDR is not broken using a C9 for me. John linneman has also confirmed that HDR works fine in this game. The grey blacks in some scenes and cutscenes are intended.
On PC? Perhaps Dark1x himself could chime in here to confirm, but the video of his that I watched was exclusively dedicated to the Xbox Series S and Series X versions.

That's reassuring, especially after seeing that article saying a 3080 can't do constant 60 fps at 1080p

It is broken... C9 here as well.

You probably just have not seen how it should look( console, DF video was also about console version )

Have you got the xbox version and have been able to compare? Or are there any comparisons online? In that way it should be possible to confirm if it is broken on pc

Yeah i tried it on both XSX and my PC. Xbox version is graded properly( except for pre-rendered video files and brightness setting menu ), while on PC it seems like they forgot to put any stops for maximum/minimum nits or something of this kind.... whites are blown out to the moon and you losing all the detail( windows or brightly lit objects )

Could you take a picture of what you're referring to? I'm at the very beginning of the game and HDR appears to be working correctly. I had to up the gamma 1 tick from SDR, but I certainly don't have blown out highlights.

EDIT: Actually switching back and forth, yeah, the highlights are losing a bit of detail.

I'm also getting like 12 fps in cutscenes for some reason? Actual gameplay seems fine. Given the slow pace of the game and fixed camera angles I'm thinking I'll just lock this to 30 fps and max everything out at 4k.

Definitely seems like a "wait for a patch or two" kind of game though.

Same here. While I get som grey looking blacks I also get full screen perfeck blacks before after cutscenes suggesting that black levels are ok. However to be sure you need to compare to the series x version and if HDR there looks much better than it must be broken om pc.

Edit: highlights are clearly blown out on pc

I played for like 5 minutes before getting drawn into work meetings, and the one thing that stood out is that my CPU utilization is super low, like in the teens.

I'm running an i7-6700 overclocked to 4.4 and a 3080.

I don't understand people saying they are getting a "solid 60 fps"

The game constantly stutters due to asset loading. It stutters almost every time you walk around or move the viewpoint due to this.

Are you "solid 60 fps" people not experiencing this?

Nope not getting any stutter at all if I use v sync set to a 60 refresh rate. However, VRR does not work so anything below 60 stutters. 3080/C9

Sorry, so the game does stutter if it goes below 60 due to VRR, but you are not getting sttuters? The game never goes below 60 fps for you?

Have you watched the motorcycle cutscene? Did that not stutter for you at all?

Exactly anything below 60 gives me the stutter you describe. But as long as it is 60, no stutter at all. Have only played the first 45 min or so and the game was 60 99 percent of the time using dlss with ray tracing off on a 3080

I didn't do extensive testing since I'm working atm, but setting a framerate cap in the Nvidia control panel equal to the in-game fps setting seemed to eliminate stutters for me... at least in the first area. Without it I was getting them every few seconds. I assume using RTSS would provide a similar result. But again, I only did a few minutes of testing so who knows.

I've had the game close twice straight to desktop with no errors. This is on a 3080/9900k. Anybody else having this issue?

The only stutter I notice is when a cut-scene is being loaded into memory. Game play before it does judder.

Otherwise performance for me is fixed 60 at 1440p DLSS with ray-tracing 10850k/3080/32GB

Any idea what the difference is between ray tracing on and forced?

6800xt seems to be handling this nicely at 1440p, getting 70ish on average w max settings minus motion blur and the like, RTX off.
