Another hot take, Winter Soldier isn't the best Marvel Film anymore, honestly it's not 2014 anymore. WS is the typical good guy wins after defeating the villain during a 3rd act cgi extravaganza, just like every other movie. Folks gas it up just because it made cap 'cool'.

Writing wise Civil War fucking runs circles around it.

Writing/plot-wise Civil War is better than Winter Soldier, but that doesn't make it the better movie. WS overall is a little bit better. That movie still stands as the best entry in the MCU, followed by Civil War and Guardians 2.

How is this a hot take? Civil War is the best written Marvel movie. It also has the best action scene (airport battle) and the most emotional one by a mile (Cap & Bucky vs Tony). It also introduced Black Panther and Spidey without them being shoehorned and gave us the first MCU villain that not only survives his movie, but also was still breathing when it ended.

What Civil War accomplished was nothing short of amazing.

Nah, Guardians 2 is definitely better. It has some problems (overusing the "dramatic moment undercut by gag" trope, an overlong CG-orgy climax involving more evil universe-destroying blue energy), but it earns and executes its emotional beats better than most MCU films, including the first GOTG.

if anything Thor 2, Ironman 2 And avengers 2 should cause mcu burnout more than an optional solo.

Hell even Wonder Woman and Black Panther aren't anything new writing wise but yall folks stan for those.
Even ant man has fans now and his movie was worse than Doctor Strange.

Thor 2, Iron Man 2, and Ant-Man are all next to Doctor Strange in "crappy MCU movie" tier. Like, they're still all decent blockbusters - Disney doesn't really make "bad movies" - but they're all pretty formulaic paint-by-numbers stuff. Michael Douglas doing a damn fine job as Hank Pym is the only thing that gives it a heads up over Strange... if they gave Mikkelsen some half-decent material maybe it'd be worthwhile.

And Wonder Woman and Black Panther are both movies that fall apart at the end. Way better "worlds" than films, honestly. They shoot for interesting ideas and themes but undercut them with their big orgy of CGI violence finales. Like, cool, we have a moral split between T'Challa and Killmonger, what is the role of a king, what's the responsibility of a nation, oh you're just gonna slash at each other for 15 minutes, okay, I guess that's fine too.

I guess I'll give Strange credit for not just, you know, having him magic punch Dormammu for the last 10% of the movie. Still a bit underwhelming but it was a good idea, at least.

And GOTG2 is the best MCU movie so far, even if it's full of jokes that don't land and stretch on five times as long as they need to.

GOTG2 > GOTG > First Avenger > Avengers > Everything Else

I still get chills when seeing Yondu get the Ravager's Funeral. Kraglin's reaction almost brought a tear to my eye tbh. Only problem I had with GOTG was no Nova Corps at all, I want to see the Human Rocket appear one day and If they get no love at all then I don't ever see him showing up. I always hated that Gunn didn't want Richard to show up because he wanted Peter to be the only earthling, it was stupid because even if he was the only earthling he looked exactly the same as many of the "aliens". You think anyone thought Nova Prime (Glenn Close) looked like an alien at all?

I loved the story in GotG Vol. II but the humor was really, really irritating to me. A prime example being the dialogue about Rocket hiding one of Drax's turds in Quill's bed. I don't even like typing that out. The actual story, visuals and music made the movie a fantastic adventure, though. I'll never not see Kurt Russel driving in a classic, baby blue Mustang when I hear this song now.

Watched Iron Man 3 (still the best in the trilogy) and the pilot of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in my marathon. Starting The Dark World now.

The Dark World is frustrating because it improved on the first Thor in some ways. I think the visuals are overall a bit more imaginative at times and Asgard actually feels like a place people live. The opening scenes with Thor at the dinner with everyone is nice.

It also has Frigga's funeral, which is a really nice scene.

But then there is Jane randomly coming across the Aether herself, which is really quite a large coincidence. And I hate what they did with Selvig, turning him into a joke character by running around naked. No, it would have been more satisfying seeing him actually deal with the trauma from The Avengers in a more serious fashion. Not as a joke.

And of course, the least developed Big Bad in the MCU.

It's just a frustrating movie. It isn't terrible. Terrible is Suicide Squad and the Fantastic Four reboot. It just had so much more potential.

Rewatched Iron Man 2, 3 and Winter Soldier. Both Iron Man movies are underrated and I absolutely do not understand how some straight up hate 3. I love the twist and the ending fight with all the suits. It's wonderful.
And yeah, Winter Soldier might be the best one. It's just so well made with a fantastic pace. It also has the best fight choreography. I completely forgot about that.

The fanboy in me prefers Civil War and GOTG as the two best ones though. I personally just like them more. They're more my style.

Oh and idk if i'd put CW over TWS but Tony vs Cap and Bucky is the best fight in all of the MCU for me because it was so emotional. We rarely or ever see Tony angry, he was like terminator there as he just kept coming. Could've killed Steve numerous times if he wanted to.

On Civil War:

Cap and Bucky vs Tony is an emotional scene, yes. But the airport scene is not a good action scene. Amd although BP isn't shoehorned in, Spidey definitely is.

I don't know if RDJ has delivered a line as Tony Stark better than he did with, "He killed my mom."

Tbh I dont know why cape movies do that 3rd act punchout shit. Even Dark Knight kinda did it, why not have them talk and do it that way?

Ill give Killmonger a pass considering he was better developed than t'challa. And he got sent out like an OG.

Because these are action movies, and action movies (almost) always end with the hero fighting the villain. This is not an exclusively superhero trend.

Seems like Nebula still have a role to play after Avengers 4:

I had no idea that this was where the character was going. I genuinely signed onto the role thinking it was eight days of filming and then I was going to die in the first Guardians. Three movies later and there's three more to come out it's, like, crazy. It's funny because I read the Infinity Gauntlet, which is what the new Avengers films are based on, as research for my character because it's her sort of biggest moment within the Marvel comic book world, and then to find out they're making a double-bill feature based on that, I was just so excited actually because Nebula gets some really cool stuff.

ScreenRant.

So I figure she has a six movie contract, in that case. Which is good news as she might, you know, survive to be in three more! But there's so many death flags I just can't see her surviving past Avengers 4.

Fingers crossed though.

I'd love to see Nebula have the same role she had in the Infinity Gauntlet story just for the reactions

There's a nice new image of Wasp doing some flying and kicking in the latest Empire issue but it's a scan so I guess I can't post it.

There's also a bunch of Infinity War images in Empire and scans are out, but they don't show much we haven't seen in the trailer already.

Please elaborate on this point. I'm genuinely curious.

The main criticism I'd make is the same one you can make of any Marvel-Disney action scene (and many other companies too, let's be fair), that they have to edit it in such a way you can't see any of the action clearly because the actors can't do the stunts properly. None of those stars are going to risk the broken noses, torn ligaments, busted ribs, etc. etc. you can get filming 'proper' action sequences. The second major criticism I'd make is that the scene's 'big moments' are all CG fests of trucks flying through the air and so on, which I don't find interesting visually (other people can, that's fine). And there are all the quips that make the scene more comedic than action-y. And frankly, the movie seems to prioritize the quips over the action (imagine if the sound was as unclear as the visuals in some places).

If I had to pick the best action scene in a comic book movie, I'd pick Batman's warehouse fight in BvS. Although that's not anywhere close to what I'd pick for a best fight scene in a movie (it does have Scott Adkins, though, very briefly!).

Man, I hope the post credit scene for IW is Death arriving to talk to Thanos.

Honestly I just want Death to actually be a personification.

I wonder how many fathers and mothers Hawkeye killed while beeing controlled by Loki,
Oh wait, nevermind, he gets a freepass, just Bucky is the evil who was secretly in control while he was not.

Days from Black Panther crossing a billi and Infinity War smashing pre-sale records, and "series fatigue is a legit complaint" is still something uttered about the MCU.

What will it take?

And Marvel is releasing Ant-Man and the Wasp right after. They really have lost the plot and should just stop with the MCU franchise. Make something fresh and new instead. MCU is just so last year. Don't know why they don't realize this.

Marvel, hire me.

Hawkeye gets no freepass from me.

Also if you could say well the brainwash thing frees them of any guilt than Cap is the most evil in Civil War by appearently knowing of it and not telling Tony.

People just want to eventually be right. If fatigue ever happens, all these folks will take pleasure in saying "I told you so".
