It'll be pretty interesting if Switch actually takes this month.
Tax returns should provide a notable boost for PS4 and X1, and Switch has had nothing in particular going on for Jan or Feb, so it would have to be doing pretty well on its own strength now. Beating Xbox especially would be impressive here considering the lower price point.
What reason is there that PS4 and XB1 would benefit more from this than the Switch? XB1 might get a noticeable bump because it had a discount, but PS4 and Switch are at their regular price, so I wouldn't see why one would benefit more than the other. It'll be pretty interesting if Switch actually takes this month.

I think the reasoning is that it used to be that Nintendo consoles were often bought more "for the family" (or that was at least the explanation why PS and XB did better when there were tax returns). I don't know if this reasoning was actually correct, but even if it was, I think it is no longer necessarily the case with the Switch. What reason is there that PS4 and XB1 would benefit more from this than the Switch? No they don't, but we have this metric player, that covers that.So about Game Pass, there is no way that the NPD could know how many are downloading a newly launched game right? You think MS will count every subscriber/game download as a sale?

wait...what?Just a quick note on US console sales in February
The relative sales volumes of game hardware (incl. SNES Classics) was:
On the software side:
I think digitals are not included in these numbers.
How did you gain access to this?Just a quick note on US console sales in February

Damn what? That's super unexpected. The relative sales volumes of game hardware (incl. SNES Classics) was:

That shows PS4 first or I'm reading it wrong? Also MHW top spot again.Just a quick note on US console sales in February

No and by a significant margin too. That shows PS4 first or I'm reading it wrong? Also MHW top spot again.
I feel like every time I posted in the NPD thread I have to explain where this is from.. :| the actual source is NPD but I got them from a different channel..
Yes, PS4 was the top..but that doesn't mean the others are doing poorly.. Switch hardware sales are also progressing in line with Nintendo's guidance and sales of Nintendo software, especially its own major titles, appear to be favorable.
That's fine. Just wondering. Thanks for the clarificationI feel like every time I posted in the NPD thread I have to explain where this is from.. :| the actual source is NPD but I got them from a different channel..

SKUsHow the fuck did Mario Kart 8 come second? I don't understand that.
Yeah up 38% it said in the post.If Switch, while being 3rd, is still "in line with Nintendo's guidance" according to MagicPork, it probably means this month sales were quite high overall.
Seems possible. If Switch, while being 3rd, is still "in line with Nintendo's guidance" according to MagicPork, it probably means this month sales were quite high overall.
PS4 got Shadow of the Colossus and Dynasty warriors last month but I'm pretty sure those games wouldn't be moving a lot of consoles.Seems possible.
did anything happen for ps4 this month? Or just MHW pushing HW.
Cause 30% seems a lot. If Switch did like 230k, ps4 would be 300k
The ranking is on a per platform basis, so MHW has its ps4 and XB1 version ranking separately, for example.
guess we'll see how SOTC did.PS4 got Shadow of the Colossus and Dynasty warriors last month but I'm pretty sure those games wouldn't be moving a lot of consoles.
So honestly I'm really not sure myself. I'm really surprised at the results haha.
standard....I forgot the acronym lol
Fortnite is on Xbox too though.I think its because of Fortnite, previously Xbox was showing better then expected performance due to PUBG exclusivity as well.
Wow at MH too.
wait, Odyssey and MK8D hopped over
Dragon Ball: FighterzCall of Duty: WWIIPlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds*Grand Theft Auto VNBA 2K18with no digital sales? (fighterz not surprising of course)
wow to that too.
edit:
NVM, top SKUs. My bad.
And Xbox charted above Switch as well, It is giving both of them a boost.

It's getting more popular day by day. Like PUBG started slow and kept going - Fortnite is doing the same as well.
I feel like where everyone was expecting Xbox One X would be leading to PS4 owners getting an Xbox for their third party games, the opposite is actually happening... or at least in bigger numbers. The Xbox users finally have enough of the lack of exclusives and are getting PS4s as their second console.I was dead wrong with my predictions!
I am honestly amazed that despite the fact that the Xbox One S had a two week $50 drop across all of their bundles ($229 and $279 respectively), they still couldn't go toe to toe with the PlayStation 4 at $299.

And the PS4 version of Monster Hunter: World at the top whilst the Xbox One version is below two year-old Switch games slightly boggles the mind.
Despite barely coming second and being the cheapest console by a significant margin, especially during the tax returns, I just cannot see what they can do from here on out, now that they are back to price parity with both the PlayStation 4 and Switch...
Interesting Times Ahead™
