Umm, why are some people so upset with this? Like Political cartoons have been a "thing" for a LONG TIME and are common in many newspapers....

Right-wingers hate Hollywood. According to them, nobody associated with Hollywood should say anything about politics. Athletes should also shut up and just play sports. Meanwhile, the government is evil and politicians know nothing.

Apparently, the only people that are worthy of having their political opinions listened to are backwards, mouth-breathing white trash from the South who did some research on drudgereport.com. Only they know what's really going on.

Even if this weren't a justifiable depiction of her, it's pretty tame and shouldn't worth any amount of controversy outside the political right. This isn't Kathy Griffin.

I don't like when Jim Carrey bully's people, I don't know I just get his motivation. He has every right to do and say what he did, but its just a bit mean spirited from the guy I know as Lloyd and Truman. He is a pretty good artist though.
Says the big Trump supporter. Whatever, man. Take your faux outrage elsewhere.

Good work, Jim. Also, that's quite well drawn, I'm impressed, I didn't realize he was doing art until this thread.

But I mean, that is what she does. The majority of her job has her either lying to or misleading people in some way or another. That's not really arguable at this point. Is it just that the truth hurts and the picture is a bit ugly that has people riled up?
Yup. Like many have said, no lies detected. The truth hurts when you're this much of a pathological liar, hate monger, and intentional, repeat scumbag.

Can't bring any worse than Berkely Breathed's take on a certain politician...

Oof, ya'll slapped Trained Rage around a bit, eh?

I don't understand the motivation to VIGOROUSLY defend your own completely admitted uninformed opinions. An uninformed opinion is of NO value, period. You shouldn't be surprised that people treat it as rubbish when you trot it out there. We have all been there at some point, the better people take the time to look stuff up, or abstain rather than poking out their chest and arguing the integrity of an 'opinion' based on no actual information.

Meh. A little violence is warranted every now and then.

Huh? I was fine being absent, but what? I'm a Trump supporter? I'm conservative for sure. But not everyone who you disagree with voted for Trump bro. I think like 50% of everything the guy says is bullshit.
Wait I thought you got perma banned

OT, I really don't get what the outrage is over this painting. Saw it early and people were trying to act like this was some egregious thing.

At the age of 56, I do hope I can sit at home and just create (paintings; music or otherwise), smoking (something) and just kick back - stirring the pot from a house in a place far away from anything that ultimately doesn't matter.

I'm under the impression that Mr. Carrey has fallen (risen?) to a point of nihilism (or the absolute contrary! (it's hard to tell ^^)); - i.e. nothing truly matters as they seemed to and I don't have to play along anymore. That's why he may rather paint, act unexpectedly and furthermore, quite ironically, choose not to act.

I like his paintings though, from what I've seen.

It's sad when Trump supporters get upset that celebrities they admire turn out to be anti-Trump.

It's like, for a split second, they see themselves for what they really are, and then they react with anger instead of self reflection.

50% is far too low.

Which parts of the conservative platform do you support? Or which are you most proud of? Just curious.

Had no idea Carrey was painting. He's pretty good, although the SHS is a little too on the nose, his other works look quite nice.

One day I'd like to see a take on the Trump presidency like The Truman Show, where one rational person is surrounded by lunatics

His episode on Seinfeld's comdians in cars getting coffee shows his art studio. Hes pretty serious about it

I love it, if I were rich I'd offer to buy it. Thanks for spitting truth Jim.

You have actual posts saying you voted for him "bro".

How about the Ralph Steadman I posted earlier?

God bless this man, I love Ralph Steadman.

I don't remember saying I voted for him. Maybe it was sarcasm? Do you have a link? Because in actuality I didn't vote for him. More Carrey art....

The art is quite wonderful, but I'm not going to bother with receipts because you would just backpeddle.

I don't really understand the outrage behind all this except for Conservatives and trump supporters being mad that Carrey decided to insult the white house propaganda mouthpiece.

Honestly, people sling shit at democrats and socialists for years, it is nice to see the kid gloves come off with some people who have more of a voice than I do.

Yeah Carrey has come into his own as an artist. Dude is pretty great and has come a long way from being the guy people laugh at in comedies.

This was kind of a page six story that had been floating around for half a week. In cranking up outrage, Fox News made what should have been an afterthought into a viral punchline. The alleged Sanders portrait (and it's alleged because nowhere is it explicitly pointed out that the person is Huckabee Sanders) was not Jim Carrey's first stab at political commentary in his art, but it's the first to get serious blowback. I mean, why not ignore this like they have with the dozen or so other samplings that Jim Carrey has done over the past few months?

It's weird, I remember loving his work growing up, everything he did was just so crazy to me. It's cool to see him branch out into art, hopefully he's gotten rid of some of his stranger beliefs on vaccinations though. I hope he does some more anti-trump pieces.

Carrey's painting of Sarah Huckabee Sanders looks like it would be a character who gives you missions in Hotline Miami.

Not meant as an insult to the painting, either. I like it.
