I think it is tied to the racing license, don't quote me on that.

edit: i am wrong all along, this is not a world championship...

article 112 of the sporting code:
FIA said:
As far as the application of this Code is concerned, everycompetitor or driver who has obtained their licence from an ASN takes the nationality of that ASN for the period of validity of that licence.
All drivers, irrespective of the nationality of their licence, participating in any FIA World Championship event, shall retain the nationality of their passport in all official documents, meetings, information bulletins and prize-giving ceremonies.

List of world championships:
FIA Formula One World Championship
FIA World Rally Championship
FIA World Endurance Championship
FIA World Touring Car Cup
FIA World Rallycross Championship

So... if the championship is not a world championship, it is the license country.

In a multiple citizenships case, the pilot choses which of the multiple he retains, even if it is not the one of his license. (a Franco-swiss coulld retain swiss despite having a french license).

This French site says the F1 streaming service will launch on Thursday: http://www.msports.fr/f1-service-f1-tv-pro-quil-faut-savoir/
The system will be set up for the Australian Grand Prix and should be launched with great fanfare during the media day of the weekend, Thursday.
This German site says it'll launch on Friday: http://www.autobild.de/artikel/formel-1-freie-trainings-im-free-tv-13389329.html

Might just be a matter of time zones and all. *fingers crossed*

There will be plenty of kinks to iron out, as with pretty much every new service that includes massive streaming and gateway apps on various devices.

You guys think being a Ferrari fan now is rough, the 90's were worse

Still remember going to school after the '97 Jerez race and being the only Ferrari supporter in my group of friends

For Europe it's 7.99€ a month or 64.99€ for the whole season. I tried to log in with my account tho but it didn't work...

EDIT:
Oh wow it seems the price is different depending on the country?
France - €18.99 Per Month
Switzerland - €10.99 Per Month
Germany - €7.99 Per Month
US - $11.99 Per Month
Venezuela - $8.99 Per Month

Wat. Why would France cost twice that of Germany?

Looks like it's just some sort of test page, given the sit.formula1.com URL, and not fully live yet.

Well, they do have 30 more hours to figure it out. Those poor bastards are probably coding around the clock at this point.

TV rights fuckery I suppose. F1's only airing on free TV in Germany this year while in France they probably don't want to/can't undercut too much the pay TV services they still have existing contracts with. Hopefully that'll level out over time.

The channel holding the F1 rights in france costs 19 euros a month under first year during private sales (24 usually for a first year service, 40 for the poor chaps who don't have the guts to negotiate a permanent 24/month).

I guess that's why, they are the same price as the channel (18.99 a month). To me, 15 euros is the cutoff, so... no yearly subscription for me.

I may have to seek a foreign friend in order to get a less expensive option... if it works in all the countries.

Reasonable price everywhere but France.
But yeah, I imagine Canal+ had liberty media by the balls there, they have a pretty good coverage and will provide the worldwide French commentary...

Less attractive for sure but still beats having no other solution if you ask me.

Are they going to add another DRS sobre to the other circuits as well? If only Bottas could bring the fight to Lewis...

I tried to register, and whatever the country, there is only F1 access available... anyone had any luck with a F1 Pro sub ? the link to the schedule is broken, so i don't know if it is because they are past their "beta" subscription or if it is just not available for me. [edit: got my answer... launch means subscribtion as well, silly me]
Belgium is 7.99, could be a good option :P

I think that new DRS zone is to allow drivers to get close to each other by the end of the lap to try a proper overtake on the start finish straight.

This is pretty common and true of other similar services in other sports. NFL Game Pass, for example, is cheaper in countries where it's less popular. Although, I'd be surprised if that narrative is true of the above example seeing as Germany is the cheapest (I assume F1 is still really popular there?).

It was over 4 million per race last year. For context, the height of Schumacher's domination pulled twice that number.

€7.99 in Belgium or €65 for the entire year? That's very reasonable, surprisingly. Where do I sign up?!?
