Did the two DevilJho quests. Initial impressions are good, it's a really fun monster.

The second quest there was a Bazel / Jho turf war it was epic.

The Deviljho weapon descriptions are hilariously edgy.

Insect Glaive: The madness inside this Insect Glaive desires nothing but blood and tragedy.
Light Bowgun: A baleful bowgun said to have been crafted in a dark workshop.
Hammer: This hammer, oozing with Deviljho's power, hungers for living sacrifices.

Reminds me of the monster descriptions from the Castlevania DS 'trilogy'.

Made the final jho lance which can be upgraded twice.

Would it be better to get the negative affinity closer to zero? It just go attack?

4 gems and still no saliva.

Got 1 gem out of four hunts, so I can't complain there. Only 1 investigation (and only with silver rewards) after picking up more than 50 tracks, though. At this point I only need a bunch of hides to complete the armor set, so at least that's now possible with just one hunt.

Weapons seem rather meh. At first I was excited the HBG could be used for my RNG cannon set but.... no slots. I'll have to play around later tonight and see if it pays off to augment in a 2 slot vs the two attack augs on the Zorah gun. Unfortunately they didn't change the lance designs. I never liked them a lot.

The insect glaive buff is going to force me to change by build probably. Tripple buff going from 60 to 90 and pausing it during mounting makes power prolonger unnecessary now. Bye Xeno armor pieces.

finally got one jho investigation.

as far as the armor goes, only the coil B seems useful because of the slots, latent power, and most important of all — fashion hunter aesthetics.

Man that Jho SnS is amazing, all you need is just one handicraft to get white. Armor is really meh but weapons are great.

Jho is a pretty fun fight, feels a bit too easy to keep him toppled over, but his attacks are deadly and awesome. Tempered is probably a bitch.

Built and maxed out the Charge Blade first because I've been hooked on those the last 2 days. Elemental phials are still way too weak compared to impact, but dishing 50-60ish per tick isn't bad when the blade damage is notably higher than what I can tink off with my diablos charge blade. Working on the hammer next, then probably the switch axe. His weapons seem pretty awesome across the board.

Someone wanna fill me in on how you're supposed to beat him as a s+s? You cant fucking hit any of his weak points.

It's easy, keep hitting his tiny legs and he will fall and then smack him on the ground. His tiny legs are his weak spot till he goes berserk than there is this red spot on his belly that you can hit. Jho is super easy with SnS.

My first fight with him was easy, but the last few have been frustrating. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but his hitboxes seem... off. A couple of times I've been standing underneath his head, swinging my hammer around and I'm simply not hitting him. These are the large golfswings I'm talking about. Then he does a tailspin, the tip barely hits me and bam, I'm flying through the air again.

The investigations won't unlock either. Another 25 - 30 or so tracks, 13 new investigations and not a single Deviljho. Ugh.

At least I have my complete armor set. I also have enough for a weapon, but I'm not sure which to make first.

His head tends to sit higher and he's much larger than you'd think just by looking at him. It might take a bit for you to work out his ranges, but once you do it's just a matter of doing the damage. And look on the bright side, at least it's not Savage Jho.

He's fun to fight, but I'm a little underwhelmed at his lethality. I was expecting some crazy relentless beast, and instead I get something that just feels like fighting Anjanath.

Still though, its nice to have a new monster to hunt and new loot to grind.

We haven't seen the Tempered version yet. I bet that version is a doozy.

Noticed his bowguns can't fire elemental shots, making them usable with the Elementless decoration. The HBG seems like a nice alternative to the Diablos one.

I'm torn between the hammer and charge blade for the next jho weapon. I don't see many benefits of the hammer over diablos, especially diablos with protective polish, but that's what I'm leaning toward.

How's the buff to the Elemental Charge Blade? Anyone tried it yet?

I did some testing... though I didn't spend much time with elemental CB before now:
  • Without Artillery the SAED explosions are now similar on a 3* weak monster, though IMO the V shape on elemental phial CB makes it harder to hit.
  • Artillery doesn't affect Elemental Phials. So impact gets ahead on damage and also does KO with SAED.
  • Elemental phial CBs are stronger (significantly so) in all other phial attacks, including regular old AED.
  • Elemental phial damage is 1:1 with your weapon's elemental damage stat (i.e. going from 100 -> 150 fire would also increase your SAED explosion damage by 50%)
Maybe it's worth playing with everything other than SAED? Would like to hear from someone with more CB experience.

This is really nice to hear. I've spent most of my 170 hours with CB and I was really skeptical when I saw the change to element phials. Finally having a reason to make something other than the Nerg or Diablos CB is great.

Finally got to do the deviljho story quest and he just gave me 2 gems right off the bat. Thanks pickle!

Now I just need some investigations so I can make his hunting horn and SnS or IG...but the horn comes first.
