Man, everyone is dying on Kirin. I thought Teostra or Nergigante would be the the hardest to kill, but it's actually Kirin. I had 5 attempts on a Tempered Kirin Investigation and I wasted my time, as people kept dying.

Kirin is harder because the lightning bolts become unpredictable when there are multiple targets.

Google is failing me. Can someone explain to me how the stealth skill works. Does it just mean I get out of combat faster/hidden in spores and grass faster like it reads like, or does it make me less likely to be trageted by a monster like I hope?

I'm trying to justify wearing those comission pants if you cathc my drift. Fashion hunter must win out.

My guess it's the first, because intimidator already does the second (for small monsters at least).

Damn. Temepered pink rathian investigation and as soon as I SOS at it fills, I immediately spot what is clearly a gold crown small bazel. The party proceeds to run right by me fighting it and capsnthe rathian before I can kill the bazel.

People just don't look at the chat, sigh.

I need to just pound through the rest of the story stuff. Need money to craft new gear, but I'm sure I'll come by it eventually....

What's the "trick" to farming money with the bandit mantle? Just put it on and go to town?

Put it on, grab yourself dual blades and go murder Great Jagrass over and over. Sell all the quest rewards and all the trade in stuff he drops.

The buff to Foresight Slash feels insane, for me it went from working 10% or less to a "Maybe this is a bit too much" I might end up not playing again Lance with how reliable it is to counter now.

I'm still getting knocked back on Spirit Thrust tho.

Just saw Deviljo and Bazelgeuse turf war, damn! I think Jho won the initial skirmish but Bazel never stopped giving chase across a few different areas.

Jho's dragon breath seems harder to avoid.

On the other hand, it's hilariously easy avoiding the sweeping bite attack that used to have a massive hitbox.

Overall it's still the same ol' Jho. Big, slow, dumb, and hungry.

Here's a jjo horn with earplug build. Still trying to figure out the best fit.

A jho SnS build with flinch free. Switch the arms around for crit boost 3 instead of flinch free and a critical eye.

I don't think you can roll through it, at least not without Evade Extender or something.

Source: I botched the attempt like 20 times, and I can consistently roll back and forth through Vaal's breath without breaking stride.

LS is still broken it seems.

100%

Jho knocked me out of the helm breaker with his stomp. Not even physical contact on it, the ground tremor sent me into staggers. In the air. The attack didn't go off and it spent the bar.

I can't really think of a worse example of what you were obviously trying to fix and failed to do so.

Is there any value in Exhaust for a Sword and Shield build? How about Master Mounter and Airborne?

No for Exhaust, maybe if you use the Falling Bash spam playstyle and already cram in every single offensive skill you are able to and still have free slot.

For Master Mounter, I want to say no. In MP, at most you can only get 2 Mount (maybe even 3) per hunt even if you spam the Charged Backhop. I don't think it's worth going for the 3rd mount, you better off using the Falling Bash once the monster mounted twice.

Definitely no to Airborne, it only affect the Jumping Slash (which is fairly weak), not the Falling Bash. I have done some testing, even a single 1 Attack Jewel outperform Airborne for SnS.

You don't think rathalos mastery is worth it?

Poisoncoat and flinch free are the only lvl3 decorations that exist. It's some bullshit.

Hey that's not true. There's also Tremor Resistance.

(I'm still sometimes surprised when I see someone's build and there's a decoration in it that I didn't know existed after killing 200+ Tempered Elder Dragons and consistently melding all my leftovers.)

Haha I have killed 10 and got 6 =)

Pretty good Deviljho haul today - 17 gems, small gold crown, large silver crown

That's probably the reason why I got none :-/

After Jho hit me the first time and I barely took any damage I knew ... He is just HR like Bazel. In rage though he hits hard. People who think he is too easy should go back and fight him with 300 def instead of 500. He is a nice addition, but since I didn't see a elder turf war so far after 315h, I don't expect him to be annoying like bazel was in the first two weeks.... now even bazel get's ignored when he shows up, I don't even waste dung pods anymore (I would, but I like one more slot in my item pouch)

Crit Element ? No, I don't think it's worth it personally :

1. It relies on Affinity, and even though you have Weakness Exploit and Crit Eye, the -20% Affinity definitely hampers it potential.

2. Element is just not that good compared to Raw, unless the monster really weak to Element like Diablos with Legia Limespire. Afaik only Xeno and Jho have three star weakness to Dragon.

Edit : Just checked Kiranico, Teostra (nearly) completely resist Dragon, Fire/Thunder is better for Kushala, and a lot of Vaal body part only take Dragon damage once wounded/broken, so Fire is almost always better for Vaal. For Nergigante, his white spike have ridiculously high hitzone for Raw and he resist Dragon damage unless he have glossy black spike (which bounce your weapon).

3. 210 Element is not really exceptional, for comparison Legia Limespire have 330 Ice, Master Bang have 330 Thunder (with FE3) and Flammensucher (god I love Anjanath weapon name) have 240 Fire.

I'm having no luck with Deviljho investigations. The ones I unlock that involve him are all great hunting investigations, with poor rewards to boot.

I did get a nice recording of Deviljho dragging a helpless Odogaron around and later Odog trying to get vengeance... only to get picked up and dragged off again. Will see if I can make a nice gif out of it tomorrow.

I'm also making some progress in the optional quest department. I have a few regular hunts left, the others are all Arena quests. I hope to be done with them by the end of the weekend.

Got a Jho gem earlier tonight and decided to give SnS a try for the first time. What an amazing weapon. I'm not sure if it is because of the high dragon attack but it hits for way more damage than I was expecting. It's a lot of fun and does way more damage than I expected. Also the high elder seal does work with a weapon that hits this fast.

Decided to build out a friends with mushrooms set that has dragon attack 2 for max dragon attack, mushroom mancer 3, earplugs 5, handicraft 2, and 1 level of flinch free as my main skills. Pretty cool buffing and healing the entire team in the down time I spend trying to get back within attack range of the monster.

I've accidentally deleted a few of them because my muscle memory has been trained to jettison everything under 9 stars.

there is no reason at all in deleting investigations ... either register them, or leave them be ... they will slowly go towards the last page and disappear then. Deleting is a waste of time, just sayin'

I don't think you realize how many investigations I've gone through.

If I didn't delete them I'd have Elder Dragon ones I don't use as much (Kirin) falling off the back of the list.

That's why you can register the ones you will do. I constantly do "old" investigations to make room for new ones... why should I save some for weeks without doing them?

I have a full registration list of nothing but Tempered Elder Dragons already.

And I'm not saving anything for weeks. On a Tempered Vaal solo farm I average:

3-4 Investigations from Part Breaks (6-7 stars, useless)
1-2 Investigations from incidental Small Monster kills (100% useless)
1 Investigation from Vaal tracks (the only one I actually care about)
1/4 an Investigation from slaying Vaal (seems to also be mostly useless ones)

So yeah, I have to clear the shit out constantly, considering I'm using about 0.25 of an investigation and gaining 5+ per run, and I've done this over a hundred times.
