Almost finished the Odo armor set. Just need that gem...

I have an investigation with two silver rewards for him, so I'll do that until it runs out. What is the fastest way to generate investigations for a given monster? Just hunt him in a quest over and over?

There are at least 3, ERAthalos, ERAthian, ERAzure rathalos. I think it's about time for a new active squad though. ERAzure was that, for like a week. But it's dead now. :(

Man, reading about everyone having different builds with different weapons makes me feel like a scrub. Or maybe the game stays easy the whole way through? I've yet to fight any tempered monsters, but after 150 hours with Charge Blade I felt like I was starting to get good with it, but then I decided to do the Nergi Slay Event and what a reality check, lol. I'm not good at all. I mean, in 2 attempts I did go from whiffing almost every SAED to being able to land them more consistently, but not always for full damage I feel. So many things that I didn't even have to consider in the main game. Do I still want to spam SAED as much as a I can? Finally time to get good with guard point moves? When do I want to use the Dragonator and my buffs? I'm talking about getting a good time, because killing him is not a problem, not carting is not a problem since you get plenty of healing items (and you don't wanna cart, he aggroes while you're still crawling to get to the arena), his sky dive attack is brutal, if I don't have my weapon out or am not already in a good position when he roars I'm getting hit, because I can't dodge that shit. I never had to deal with those in the main game because lol flash pods. I've only been able to KO him once and that was because I landed a SAED right after I hit him with the Dragonator.

You don't really need different builds outside of obviously a ranged build versus melee build. It's more that the option is there and it gives people something to do when it comes to farming end game monsters so it's not all just about the endless grind for that one shiny streamstone.

Like I used the bog standard O-Dog Set + Eyepatch build for literally hundreds of HR fights before I got a Protective Polish decoration and it was fine.

JESUS, I spent 4 hours with the new event. Got like 150 eldered tempered investigations, not a single 5 reward. Are these even available?

Anyone else on Xbox not able to see the limited bounties? Did a full reset and all.

Edit: Nevermind. Needed to talk to the commission after logging in.

And the fucking way he shakes his ass. I swear he's got a six sense for twerking just out of range of low-profile attacks.
Call me paranoid, but it feels like the game reads your inputs. The way monsters know when to pull their limbs out of the way (even when they aren't looking at you) or knock you out of an attack with chip damage just as you wind up for a big hit...

It does. It's why the AI is dynamic. It's a game of you attacking after they strike(creating a window). When they read you going for the easy hit or the charge attack that takes too long, the AI punishes.

My current set for the Jho great sword, critical eye lvl 1 and protective polish are on the second page. Pretty happy with it, I've upgraded my armor defense since this pic.

Fuuuuuck. I just discovered why the Tailraider Safari constantly offered the same monsters to hunt on HR. Turns out they're tied to the optional quests and not the monsters in general. Now that I'm doing the optional HR quests, there's suddenly a lot more diversity.
Wait, what? What do you mean? I did all the optional HR quests (missing maybe a few arena ones generated from captures which I didn't bother with) and yet it seems I'm always getting the same monsters in the Tailrider Safaris anyway...?

I've never bothered with optional HR quests, only doing the ones I needed to do to get parts until I got enough investigations and quit doing them altogether. The ones I did were Rathalos (Ancient Forest), both Diablos (Wildspire Waste), Odogaron and Kirin (Coral Highlands), Odogaron and Great Girros (Rotten Vale) and Bazelgeuse (Elder's Recess). These were the only monsters to pop up in the tailraider safaris. No Kulu-Ya-Ku, no Paolumu and Tzitzi, no Radobaan, no Dodogama, etc.

Pukei-Pukei and Anjanath were available, but only in the Wildspire Waste and not in the Ancient Forest, which I thought was odd (but makes sense in hindsight given you hunt them there as part of the main quest).

And I'm not talking about a few safaris, but a dozen ones over the course of more than 100 hours of playtime.

Now I'm doing all the optional quests to unlock The White Winds of the New World quest and lo and behold, monsters like Radobaan, Paolumu, Tzitzi, Kulu, Dodogama, etc. suddenly pop up. Anjanath and Pukei-Pukei are also available in the Ancient Forest again. I've only done two safaris since I started to notice it, but there seems to be a lot more diversity.

I'm sadly unable to tell what exactly 'unlocked' them for the safaris, since I'm currently doing normal hunting quests and arena quests back-to-back. But I still have the 7* quests left to do, with hunts like Lavasioth, Uragaan and Azure Rathalos. So I will do the normal hunting quests first, wait for the safari to come back and then see what happens when I select a new one.

Is something wrong with limited bounties in NA? The old ones rolled over/went away half an hour ago but new ones didn't show up for me, tab is just grey

How hard are temp elders? I have yet to unlock augmentations but all my gear is max leveled as much as I can. Also, there is no point in doing Tier 1 right? and Tier 2 only when there is no elders?

Last question, the grey crowns are just silver or is there something as platinum crowns in the game?

Tempered Nergi got quite easy and then after this update he got real hard.....

EDIT
when you play with randoms in SoS. Just did a tempered run with ERA squad and no faints..

Thanks! Once I get to end game I'm gonna do just that. I can't get enough of this game. I meant in terms of being effective with different weapons.

So I did the Redifining the Power Couple quest. I hosted it and my buddy and I did it. Says complete.

But it still shows the "quest" icon and I didn't get the bandit mantle. What?

Did you talk to the woman in the armory? You don't unlock the mantles like you would, say, unlock a new canteen ingredient and have it show up on the quest clear screen. You have to report back first.

I think I might try learning the lance because I'm getting pretty bored with the longsword.

I wish I could set up a lobby and inspect/kick anyone that joins me on this tempered jho that doesn't have vitality melded in.

Who cares about your dps when you die in one hit.

Update on my previous post: I just hunted Azure Rathalos, Legiana and Lavasioth for the first time in their optional 7* quests. Normal hunts, no arena. Legiana and Lavasioth just popped up for the first time ever in the HR Tailraider Safari.

So it looks like it's tied to the normal optional hunts after all.
