Regarding Toro Rosso it's a low midfield team that's still low midfield. It's too early to blame the engine when they're sorta at the same level they ended last season at.

For Toro Rosso to reach the level they were at toward the end of last season, the engine will have to be replaced every single race like the Renault.

I looked it up, over the last 4 races, they took a total of 105 grid drop penalties. lol

And Gasly nor Hartley ever made it out of q3.

For the Europeans in here, don't forget the time changes to Daylight Saving Time, so you need to get up one hour earlier. Or else you join halfway in the race.

I'm gonna enjoy that six hours of sleep now.

Finally got around to watch qualifying.

Yeah no way i'm gonna wake up early to watch any of these qualifyings or races this season.

By 2021 Lewis championships will look even less deserved than Vettels. Car is just too dominant.

Yeah, I'm turning in now, see if I can catch some sleep. I can picture it already, getting up at technically 5AM, and by lap 15 I'll be back to sleep, lulled by the Mercedes :/

Nah, it's the driver, Vettel and Schumacher are the frauds.
This Mercedes is so dominant it got Nico fucking Rosberg a championship.

Lewis is a great driver but i doubt he'd get the same amount of championships he got (and will get until 2021) if the cars were more aligned with each other.

The 2017 design regulations probably increased Mercedes' "season" advantage since overtaking is now quite a bit harder. When you've got that extra power in qualifying to edge out the competition, and add a great qualifier like Lewis, it doesn't really matter if your race pace is only as good or slightly worse than the competition - they likely won't get past you.

Unfortunately, and as much as I actually hate diminishing a driver's accomplishment in winning a WDC in F1, I have to agree. The single biggest problem with F1, and it's been like this for nearly a decade now, is that if the rules are written in a way that it favours a specific formula in the sport and you have a car that fits closest to that formula, odds are you are going to win by default. In this case, because F1 decided to go down the hybrid engine route, and because Mercedes had a head start in front of everyone by working on that type of engine for their road cars anyway, they practically ran away with the championship now for four year. It saddens me that as much of a talent and a driver that Lewis is and how he's gotten to this position, I simply can't respect what he's achieved over the last four years, like I do with Vettel at Red Bull did and what Schumacher did at Ferrari, who I was a big fan of back in the day, because I know that the 13 world championships they won were mainly down to them having cars that completely blitzed the field on their day.

This Merc in particular could be driven by Pastor Maldonaldo smacked off his tits on the Marching powder from Columbia and he'd still win the fucking world championship. I hate having to say that about any driver, especially about a driver of the calibre of Lewis, but I hate even more that a sport could be dominated by one team for so long and potentially ruin it's reputation for being predictable and honestly, if a casual fan wanted to ask me about whether to watch a race live or not, I'd tell them to watch the highlights at home instead, because unless they screw up the tactics or if a team managed to come out of nowhere like Ferrari did last year until they fucked up in Singapore, you just know that Mercedes will win it.

Bottas will probably get a WDC if Hamilton has a lazy year.

F1 driver championships have almost always been won by the best car.

The Constructors Championship was introduced in 1958, there have been only 10 occasions in the 60 years since when the WDC didn't drive for the WCC. Only 3 of those have happened since 1990.

1 of those 3 was Lewis Hamilton winning the WDC in a year when Ferrari won the WCC. Lewis is the outlier here.

The best drivers tend to end up in the best cars, somehow. Obviously you get outliers like the average Damon Hill in a bonkers Williams or the brilliant Fernando Alonso in a Honda powered shitbox, but it all shakes out in the long run.

That's why the first person you have to beat is always your teammate, which Hamilton has done in 9 out of 11 seasons, including in his rookie year against a two-time WDC. He's also out-qualified his teammate in 10 out of 11 years and got more victories in 10 out of 11 years.

Was kind of excited to see another network handling F1, but ESPN is calling it in. Was hoping to get caught up with the changes for this coming season, but we can't even some color commentating from them.

Jeez, that plane looked more like it was about to drop a bomb rather than look cool.
