They explained in the most recent update video that they could have worked on it and sent it out as a patch but that would take longer. This way they get it to you faster but the downside is it's a full client download.

They explained it in the dev video. Building an update as a regular update takes them a few more days, so they put it out as a client update.

Yeah, it is a awesome little taste, but honestly that's what I expected from the betas an awesome little taste of this legendary beast of the seas.
Yeah, It's probably on Microsoft's end since for some people the game has simply disappeared from the gamepass menu.
So the store is definitely having issues...my presumption SpartyCrunch is that the game has been removed from GamePass with the latest push that they made.

Are you on Xbox or PC? I'm on PC, and I have Game Pass. It says I can install the game, but the installation fails.
Well, I can still start the Game Pass game and play it, but I also downloaded the patch the minute it came online, seems to be a problem for everyone who downloaded it later.

That's what a lot of people have thought. I'm 50/50 on whether or not it will be that "easy".
It's a toss up but it makes the most sense for the entryway into the tavern.
I don't remember if this is actually true but I feel like in the alpha/beta there were fewer seagulls over barrels than there were over a shipwreck. And if that wasn't the case then it should be since shipwrecks can sometimes be completely submerged and thus look no different from barrels at a distance.
Agreed, it's bizarre when random message in a bottle quests are consistently giving me better loot than my hard-earned Level 25 Gold Hoarder quests. I don't get out of bed for anything less than a multi-part voyage at this point and yet the game thinks it's appropriate to send me to an island to dig up one measly Castaway's Chest.
Wouldnt surpise it just needs a license update. Just like how play anywhere needs to trigger abit later if you get a game.
Chatting with Xbox support now. The rep I'm chatting and I seem to be this person's first contact with this issue. Expecting a "our engineers are working to resolve this as quickly as possible" response.
I'm guessing:
Become legend at 50/50/50 -> Athena's fortune becomes available through a back room in the taverns -> unmarked water temple islands become active -> rock formation leads to Athena's Fortune after doing something on the other unmarked islands to open it -> other side of portal is Sea of Thieves take on a raid.
Is how it might play out. Can't wait to see who gets to legend first.

I was having the Win10 error/install issues as well. A quick restart of my PC and the game installs instantly. Just loaded into an outpost. Sorry to all the folk having trouble.
Legendary tavern is interesting.... it's an actual physical place that exists in the world where pirate legend quests are given and I assume turned in.... so what's stopping players from camping it? Unless one theory is true that you become a ghost in the tavern. But even then, if you know a pirate legend is on the server you can just patrol the entrance.

So far the games froze on me twice. Once when I shot another pirate and the other when leaving the ferry of the damned. All in the space of 20 minutes. Never had a freeze in the 50+ hours I've played to date. :(
We'll see. If there is "grief potential" i'm sure we'll see it exploited as thoroughly as possible as quickly as possible lol. I'm sure Rare has though of this though and has some safeguards or something in place.
I think it will be your very "own" spawn point in that you can get people in to and everyone have their own spawn point, same place, but on private and it won't be physically on the map for everyone, it will rather be accessible via teleport/loading screen and will not be a public place.
Kraken really just needs to be more aggressive. It has a bunch of attack animations, but Hardly ever uses any of them.
I also don't think we've seen all of what rare has in store as far as Kraken battles go. Seems like an encounter that will be updated over time.

I think part of the end game is related to killing it, but not sure. I recall them saying at end game you can do certain voyages to get access to Kraken themed ship cosmetics.
The streamers seemed to love it and those fights were super intense. My battle with it was quick but it was almost done for when we showed up.
Nope. Neither have I received my Founder Sails (Although they stated, that it would take up to 2 weeks, but at this point why would I even care since I have a fully customized ship already) And none of my friends who pre-ordered the game have received their pre-order bonuses.
If true that's not horrible but it will HAVE to be a trigger-able event. I've spent over 30 hours sailing around the entire map and havent even seen it once. If there is some valuable quest/mission that involves defeating the Kraken they had better give us a way to summon the fucking thing lol.
When I try to install the game, I get "Something unexpected happened." The game downloads just fine, but when it gets to the installing part, that's when it fails. It also gives me a code: 0x80070005
The way everyone kinda explains solo play is making me play it on solo. While I prefer to play with friends it's just upsetting when shit falls apart as a team.
Though just ran into someone and wanted to play together since we were both solo but there is no way to expand your party in game. Hope that gets put into the game.

Welp, dont with Xbox support. They took all my info and will escalate it. Sounds like the GamePass issue is still being investigated on their end, but at least they acknowledge that it is an issue on their end.
Good, but this definetly is not a good look for gamepass in general as a service.
I hear that the Kraken likes when people have a lot of loot onboard. ;)
This might be happening due to the same issue with Game Pass.
Per Rare's comment above in the official twitter account, they'll have the latest information on when they'll have a fix available for Game Pass customers.
Can't be tied to that as i've cleared numerous skele forts and other hauls that totaled over 20,000g at a time. And i've seen other videos of people with over a 100 chests on board who didn't get "krakened".
Thanks for the update. I just tried installing it again, and got the same error. I restarted my computer, and Sea of Thieves is now showing up in my list of applications, but when I try to launch, it says it's not part of my account. Good thing I'm at work and doing this all remotely. I just want the game to be ready when I get home from work!
