Just as confirmation for UK people who haven't tried it out yet - I set up my Switch with a South African account under a separate email address, bought Jackbox Party Pack 4 (as the language specified on the South African eShop page is English only) for 285 ZA/South African Rand (which on eshop-prices.com is about £15.39) with my NatWest debit card (so not a credit card specifically for international purchases) and was charged £15.64, so there was a 30p extra charge, but to save 20% on all future purchases I'm happy with that!

Edit: I also received an email confirmation to the email address from the NoE HQ in Frankfurt confirming the transaction in R285.00 and the correct card type.

Also, I think it's a good idea forhttps://eshop-prices.com to be added to the OP as there are some cases where a different eShop region is cheaper (Mexico, Japan etc.) - I think South Africa works for the EU region because it's considered PAL, same as Australia/New Zealand, but just something I thought was worth mentioning.

Can confirm it worked with my English VISA Debit as well. Golf Story and Stardew Valley for a combined £20.01. That's a bloody bargain if you ask me!

Speaking of Stardew Valley, that appears to be cheaper on the Mexican eShop than the South African eShop by £2 or so - any UK/EU CheapERAs willing to test out if they can use a normal debit/credit card on the Mexican eShop? And ditto for Mario x Rabbids on the Japan eShop?

Pretty sure most UK, if not all, cards don't work on Mexico or Japan.

Shame. I'll stick to South Africa then. Easy enough. What happens if the card doesn't work, anything negative, no money taken off you?
It doesn't even try and charge you.

It'll just error after you put in the card details saying they're wrong basically. Even though they aren't, it's just that it only accept cards from that region (and maybe a few cards that it likes outside of that region).

If you change the country of your Nintendo Account to South Africa, you can purchase the game either directly on your Switch or on the Nintendo website. After that, you can change the country of your account back to your original country; the game still appears as part of your purchases. Alternatively, you can also create a separate South African eShop account.

PayPal isn't available on the South African store, so you need a credit card.

https://eshop-prices.com

So I can do this all with the same account now? All the guides I read previously suggested setting up a 2nd account but I've got no desire to juggle games across multiple accounts. If I can do it all from my main account then that changes matters as I'm 100% digital on Switch and the UK eshop prices are an insult.

I've never paid £50 for a game before and won't be starting now.

Yup, the Mario Odyssey Amiibo Triple Pack showed up instead of the Bowser single I paid for. Awesome!

Asking UK-Era for advice:
I was thinking of buying a 40-50" TV (Mostly Gaming + Movies) and now that we're close to Black Friday, I wanted to ask if anyone knew what I should expect in terms of discounts (flat or percentage) and prices; how do I know whether a deal is good or bad?

I don't have much experience with Black Friday and 0 experience with TV shopping.

i think it's mostly the crappy polaroid ones that get good deals, everything else they usually pump the price up a couple weeks before and then cut it down to what it was to call it a discount

Dutch-Era: Both Intertoys as well as Bart Smit are having an amiibo sale. Lots of amiibo 50% off, including the Mario Oddyssey amiibo (€7 each at Bart Smit, €8 each at Intertoys). BS also has the two new Metroid amiibo for €9 each.

Edit: this is the webshop, not sure if also in-store

If you're going to be looking at Amazon and use Chrome (not sure if its available aside from a chrome plugin, sorry) the Camelizer plugin will allow you to check the past prices for anything and see if the discount is true or like Oldmario mentions, a price that was hiked up the previous week.

Not to suggest people can't offer advice here as well, but I've always found www.avforums.com a worthwhile place to gather some information on a particular set. Personally I'd do a little research beforehand on what sets are currently available, Amazon & John Lewis are good for waranty/cust support cross reference there with AV forums and get a shortlist together of potential sets and keep an eye out for a drop. Camelizer allows you to set alerts as well so you get an email when a specific item drops.

In terms of discount to expect, it depends. It's worthwhile keeping an eye on amazon warehouse deals during that time though, they are usually like new returns, have full warranty and are already discounted you can get additional money off with the "seasonal" discount. I picked up a PS4pro (like many others on the other site) last year less than a month after launch for only £250 using warehouse.

I use pricespy, some small outlets listed there that often have lower prices than more well known retailers. Sometimes Amazon deals are a bit misleading and the item is heavily discounted elsewhere.

As always, do your research on the company. One reviews site is not enough, some may have a high rating on Trustpilot for instance and a poor one elsewhere, this would indicate shill accounts. If a price looks too good make sure you're not buying a refurb or as new/damaged item. And make sure it's in stock! Big one this, many smaller retailers will advertise a product they don't have in stock and take your money on a 'ordered on request' basis. I always call up first before placing an order and I make sure to check if the stock is UK sourced. Some places have a UK landline but source their products from abroad.

Thanks for the information, I'm going to make a list of things I'll look for and hope ;D

Not wanting to bang on about another site, but one of the moderators on AV Forums has quite the extensive selection of guides covering what to look for etc. if you want a place to start (though I agree to not rely on a single site). I found it pretty helpful when I was looking for the same as you this time last year, we had our heart set on an LG OLED but having just finished building a house we couldn't justify dropping the fat end of four grand.

Wonder what costs involved with normal Santander account.

Are the SA games in English too?

Does this include Frozen Wilds or not? It doesn't say it does, but given it's called 'complete edition' and releasing next month I'd rather expect it to; and the fact that the blurb on the page starts "The Complete Collection will also include..." suggests that maybe there's a paragraph missing prior to that?

Yes it does come with the DLC.

Worth noting that if you do want to get around the currency transaction fee, look into an app called Revolut. It's an app th a free virtual Mastercard to top up and no conversion fees.

What's the method for taking advantage of these cheap Switch game deals from other countries stores? Either that or please point me towards a thread or site that can explain it. Thanks!

Theres two methods, one is make a new account and set its region to the region you desire. The other is going into your account settings via the website and changing your region. You'll be prompted for your password again when you open the eshop and hey presto different regions store.

I believe if you have credit on your main account, you can't switch until its be spent.

There's no reason to create a separate account, it makes things just more complicated. You only need to make sure that no balance is left before when you make the country change.
Wanna say thats what I do and yup its much better and works flawlessly, all purchases under one account.

Also in case anyone is interested, I have purchased from Mexican and Russian eshops using this card: https://next.n26.com/en-eu/

Are there any good bundle deals (preferable with the Pro controller or Joycons) for the Switch right now in the UK/Ireland?

Looking to buy AC: Origins X1 (digital). CD Keys currently has it for £48, but I can get it for £38 on the Xbox Singapore store. I'm just wondering if it's likely to be £38 or less on CD Keys on Black Friday or during Xmas sales ? If it is then I'll just wait.

isn't it bundled in with the xbonex? it'll probably start popping up on these types of sites in masses if you can hold it a couple weeks and the price will probably drastically drop like it did with syndicate

It's not bundled with the One X as standard at least.

Nioh PC: CDkeys has it for £29.99. Price spiked up to £32.99 for the past few days but has just dropped back to its original listing price. Cheaper than GMG with VIP discount, which many in the Nioh thread used to buy which was still a few quid more expensive.
