Damn it, just got to ep.8 and after it finished I was like "Why is a trailer for a different show playing?!"

I need to see Yuudai get served a dose of reality! You're not a puppy!

I know this rule isn't widely advertised outside of our anime threads, but a kind reminder that discussion on piracy and fansubs is prohibited on Resetera.

Yuudai is seriously in his own world. Lol

But Ami is equally as bad as him in terms of maturity. Geez...I guess its expected due to their age but ugh. He seems to be getting the brunt of it from the rest of the cast though in terms of getting lectured.

Commentator talking about how people in the West will react after watching this:

"Why Japanese people, why?"

Lol in tears

clarification q: does this include discussion of VPNs?
Maybe keep that to the Discord or PM's if you want to help someone. Much like the Anime and Manga threads it is probably best to be on the side of caution and not get into the specifics of the where and how people get to watching their stuff.

So I finished up the rest of the episodes and Terrace House has me hooked again.

The Yuudai situation is rough. He's definitely spoiled but I do kind of feel bad for him. It must feel like everyone is ganging up on him and that's rough. But also everyone else has it rough having to deal with his shit.

Mizuki I feel bad for too. She seems really nice, but the stuff with her ex is like watching a train wreck in slow motion. No way that ends well.

Shion and Tsubasa are absolutely adorable and I really hope it works out. Shion is such a smooth operator.

I think it's kind of crap that they shit all over Yuudai regarding his date with Ami. Granted, they weren't there and how he is in general, but this one was mostly Ami being in the wrong. Like, if I took someone out on a date and she acted like that, I would be hella pissed, too.

Let's sum it up
- Ami said she's not comfortable with driving, Yuudai suggested a place where you have to drive for an hour.
- The place Yuudai chose is not even open in Winter or at least in that weather.
- Yuudai acted like an ass after the date.
While Ami's negative attitude is usually quite annoying, that one time I feel like it was justified. Some of it is on her - she should've suggested going somewhere closer or something.

The Yuudai date really should go in textbooks as the absolute worst way to plan a date. She even specifically said a theme park and he didn't even get that right.

I got totally hooked by the newest series, Captain Tsubasa is awesome. Yuudai is a fool.

I have been going back and watching Boys and Girls in the City.

Pretty damn entertaining. I love the hosts, and there's some fun drama. I like the ebb and flow as people change too.

I think I am close to the end, I am in the middle of the whole Riko/Hayato situation, and they were talking about there being less than a month to go.

I guess i'll watch the Hawaii one next, not being in Japan loses some of the appeal, though.

Nah Yuudai is the one to blame on that one. It'd be hard to hide that I'm annoyed when someone I don't like that much asks me to drive 1 hour to a place that's closed

About 5 eps in

Man even from the outset that relationship wasn't going anywhere fast. I feel like the age thing was the common thread, but woof, any attempt at flirting has been pretty crap and frankly just met with hostility from Ami's part. She's a bit judgey too, but Yuudai seems aloof (and worse, kinda knows it?).

Anyways yeah I feel bad the gang is going hard on the kid, but it's probably better now from folks just a little more 'in the thick of it' than he is. This is a good turning point and he's young enough that he can get himself out of it in good time.

Tsubasa needs a slice of life manga about her life. I love her Blackhawks hat.

Mizuki I surprisingly like, I'd totally hire her for projects and talk cool things with. xD

I mean, she was spelling it out for him from the first time he asked her to go on this date that she didn't want to go. She was obviously too timid to deny him, but fine. Then he picks a date location she doesn't know, and asks her to drive because he can't. Even though he knows she is insecure about driving a strange car. Not only that, but he picks a location an hour away as you said. Of course she's gonna be annoyed from the start.

So a while into driving they stop for a bite to eat and she brings up the topic of not wanting to go. She wants to let him down easy so she does it by asking him on a scale of how much he wants to go there, and she tells him she's at a one. She doesn't want to go there. And instead of asking her if she wants to go something else, he forces them to go on. She was giving him all the chances. He could have asked her where she wanted to go, instead. They could have went to a movie, or a mall, or an amusement park. Literally anywhere.

There was just no initiative from Yuudai at all, which is par for the course for him, but come on man -read the room.

While Ami's negative attitude is usually quite annoying, that one time I feel like it was justified. Some of it is on her - she should've suggested going somewhere closer or something.

To be fair, she should have just said no to him, full stop. It feels like she just said yes because she knows people will be watching this on Netflix. Which is all fine and dandy but if she can't fake being happy and trying to enjoy herself then she should have just said No. (I mean, no one watching the show would have blamed her for it at that particular point)

Or at the very least, yes, she should have just suggested somewhere closer and if he wouldn't budge, tell him No to the date then.

But I suppose part of that is on Japanese dating society where it still seems to be all on the guy to not only ask the girl, but to choose the activity, etc. (I know some girls take the initiative but from what I understand, it's rare)

That said, I don't have an issue with the girl being the one to drive if the guy can't. Or public transport if neither can. I only say that because people got at him for asking her to drive. I feel that was because he was the guy and was expected to be the one to do it for that reason alone (even if she asked him out, I think people would have gotten at him for asking her to drive).

Now of course, if the reason people got at him was because he refused to listen to her that she was uncomfortable driving (and wtf, an hour is not close by when you have to drive and aren't comfortable with it), I'd have understood that complaint.

Still Ami will have gotten a net positive with all this. If she can handle driving with Yuudai, she can handle driving with anyone lol.

He could have asked her where she wanted to go, instead. They could have went to a movie, or a mall, or an amusement park. Literally anywhere.

This is true, he was given a chance to save the date and he utterly failed to do that.

Watched all 8 OND episodes, and what a great time after the disappointing Aloha State. I feel like the commentators are all very much on their games this time around, too - even Reina has a ton to say now!

Whether Yuudai truly deserves the shit he gets or not is almost irrelevant imo, as he needs it - which everyone else is keenly aware of.

Tsubasa is fucking killer. I want nothing more than to see her succeed in everything.

Tsubasa going out of her way to get Shion a present and give it to him, Breh'd better be nice even if he turns her down.
Ami's redemption arc is slowly but surely coming along, I can feel it! Let's go Nakamura!

I thought Ami's redemption arc was going on a date with a dude she didn't care for, giving him 15 chances, but at least got to take her modelling more seriously and getting a lot of good driving practice haha ( also I'm sure going places with a "Terrace House" camera crew helps). I actually think Ami is secretly the best, she's got a weird and fun dark side you don't really expect.

All the best to Tsubasa and her career, Shion's in a bit of a predicament but I feel for him too (that relationship was way one-sided).

Ami is terrible. Yes, she is objectively very cute. But come on, that attitude? At this point I'm honestly tired of her "ENTERTAIN ME" attitude. I wish she would leave asap so that someone whose interactions are fun to watch could join.
As for Tsubasa, I give her about 15% chance of succeeding with Shion (despite what he said), since the birthday present plan does sound cute.

Holy shit. Currently in the middle of this episode and everyone is catching on to Mai's game. I love how everyone is so protective of Tecchan.

Rinati looks like she's going to murder her with her guitar.

I love Rinati. She's one of the most genuine persons to ever be on TH. She didn't make much of an impression on me at first but ever since
she opened up to Yo-san that one time
, she's won me over.

Goddamn it the Shion-Tsubasa thing is really being dragged out and based on Shion's previous comments, I don't think it's gonna end well. ;_;

Ami... is still so passive OMG. And then expecting undivided attention from the guy. She seems to be bored with practically everything!

And the panel calling Taka an Ojisan. Damn that makes me feel old. :|

Boring story you heard a 100 times - Despite loving a lot of reality shows in the 90's (I am old enough that I watched the 1st season of The Real World) I hate what they have become since (I think the last ones I've watched from start to finish are The Surreal Life and The Joe Schmo Show). That was until we watched the first episode of Opening New Doors (we were goofing around on Netflix when we did, I didn't expect to watch more than 10 minutes) last month. During the first episode I was so confused. Who are these people (the hosts) talking and why are they are talking? Once i figured that out I was like why am I still watching this? What is the purpose of this show? That said we watched another one and another one that night. Since than we have watched over 40 episodes of Terrace House in 3 weeks. We are addicted.

I am not sure what we are going to do when we run out of episodes (we are going to start Aloha State next week despite the warnings). I am going to have to track down the true first season with subtitles.

Confession I cried for the first time watching a reality show. When
Hansan left the show. He might be the first person I ever seen in a reality show that I wished I knew in real life.

You're not alone my friend.
Hansan is the MVP of reality shows. I watched that episode 3 times and I was a mess every time haha
