Is this show the real deal Era? I've been meaning to check it out for a long time.
Prove me wrong. The first season focused on Wendy and Dipper too much. Then there was a giant hiatus because Alex Hirsch has a shitty work ethic. Then season two rolls around and the first couple of episodes were strong and then towards the middle it just shits the bed. The ending was lame as fuck. The first half of the ending was dumb robot shit.

Show had a lot of promise but Alex Hirsch can't run a show.
I'm on my phone so I can't really go into detail right now..
Instead of replying with gifs, why not prove me wrong? You're not really contributing.
Maybe one day...
This is on Hulu? Is it really worth watching? Someone here compared it to early day Simpsons quality, and if that's true, I could watch an episode of two.
Rick and Morty Season 3 needs to hurry up and show up on Hulu.

It's like, not at all like the Simpsons so if that's what you're expecting...
But it's very good cartoon TV. Better than the Simpsons imo, but I never liked that show so *shrug*
Sorry, I don't mean to expect it like the Simpsons, I meant quality wise, like each episode is written well and is entertaining. Haha. It's like, not at all like the Simpsons so if that's what you're expecting...

Ahh thanks, I'll check out an episode or two tonight when I get home.Oh definitely, there's really no filler here that can or should be skipped, even the worst episode is high quality stuff.
I don't know what kind of petty beef you have with Alex Hirsch, but your criticisms here are wrongeheaded as all hell. All through the hiatuses, Alex was complaining about the shows being ready to go, that was 100% Disney being dumb with scheduling and airing them, so fuck allllll the way off with that "shitty work ethic" crap.Prove me wrong. Bullshit. How Robbie found the haunted CD or whatever the fuck it was never explained. Hirsch left shit open for no reason whatsoever and just rushed the ending. I felt no closure at the end of the show because the moment it went for a genuine moment with Stan forgetting everyone, it just says "fuck you lol" and reverses it. I did not feel anything for the show at the end. Bill was a fun villian but was completely ruined by making him look weak. Dreamchasers or whatever it was, the finale of season 1 was great. But Bill was made to be some pawn with his forgettable cast of demon characters.Mileage may vary for everyone but honestly, it felt like a perfect ending. It wrapped up long running plotlines, gave nearly every character a great final beat while also wrapping up their individual stories, and gave the show a definitive conclusion.
Yeah, they fought the villain in a giant robot but that's always what the show has been: batshit insanity. They managed to pepper in hilarious moments throughout said final fight as well.
I was the one to say that and Gravity Falls isn't like the Simpsons structurally, but more in running with how funny it is and managing to balance humor with heart.
No, Hirsch does have a shitty work ethic. The dude couldn't decide on where to go with the show and constantly went over schedule and overworked himself. Season 1 was solid because it had a plan. Season 2 didn't have a plan and it showed. He completely fucked up and rushed to finish the show because Disney was impatient. The hiatuses were Disney's fault but I understand they wanted to space out releases of the show. Hirsch seemed hard to work with because if you look at him now -- he has no shows going for him. He was going to have a show at Fox but that went down the tubes. Hirsch isn't the kind of person to be given all that power in a TV show. He can't handle it.I don't know what kind of petty beef you have with Alex Hirsch, but your criticisms here are wrongeheaded as all hell. The "can't run a show" dig... It was his first show. He ran it to completion. So that's demonstrably false. You're free to think he could have done things better, but intimating your dislike with 'oh the showrunner's just crap' is just really pissy and disrespectful.
I absolutely adore this show. I watch it every few months, and the finale hurts every time I watch it and realize it's done again. It's so, so good.Is this show the real deal Era? I've been meaning to check it out for a long time.
Uh, even Alex absolutely admits he fucked up as a show runner. Did too much himself, delegated too little and ended up burning out. Yeah, Disney fucked the scheduling, but Alex wanted to quit after the first season he was so burned out.I don't know what kind of petty beef you have with Alex Hirsch, but your criticisms here are wrongeheaded as all hell. i wonder if it'll be a limited run. i preordered just in case.$80 for 40 episodes— $2 an episode. Amazon sells each episode of $1.99 in HD and you don't get the special features. I usually wait until I can get an entire series or a season for $1 per episode, but Gravity Falls, like Avatar, deserves and exception.
Sym bionic titan got a series release on DVD in Australia. I imported the Dvd and it's great.Next: TRON UPRISING.
After: MOTORCITY
Pipe-dream: SYM-BIONIC TITAN
Back on-topic, will this set show up on Amazon?
Yeah buying from shout directly is usually expensive..I'm gonna wait to see if Amazon will sell it.I was all set to pre-order, until I realized that the Blu-Ray version was $80, and that's with a discount.
I'm hesitant. I've already got the complete BluRay for Avatar: The Last Airbender on pre-order, and that was at half the price.
Steven Universe seasons 1-3 got blu ray releases on Australia..idk why Australia gets all this stuff.SAY WHAT! Disney doing what Cartoon Network don't. I'm still salty about Adventure Time S7 and Steven Universe S1 being DVD only.
Meanwhile, here in America we are only just now getting Season 1 on.. DVD.Steven Universe seasons 1-3 got blu ray releases on Australia..idk why Australia gets all this stuff.
Oooh, wow, maybe I can give this show a shot and see wha-
Pass. Not keen on region locking.
Overworking and bearing too much burden onto himself sounds like kind of a different thing than having a shitty work ethic, though? Like, pretty much the exact opposite of that thing. No, Hirsch does have a shitty work ethic. The dude couldn't decide on where to go with the show and constantly went over schedule and overworked himself.

Isn't this the show that people say has a lot of incest undertones, or am I thinking of something
It's worth it, yes. As to your second point, this is literally unprecedented from Disney (both releasing a full series on BluRay as well as releasing one of their shows through a 3rd party) so we have no way of knowing. They have their Vault shit, it could very well be a limited run for more hardcore fans and never even show up on Amazon. Or it could show up, stay the full price, and then go out of print before ever dropping, and then potentially never drop but just go up.I've wanted to see this show for a while and was hoping it would get a Blu-ray release, but is it worth the price of admission?
Is this one of those situations where it will pop up on Amazon for $30 cheaper right away?
