My wife, and all 5 of my kids, go out of town for ONE night, and it's down on GamePass (for me)...

Crap.

why would the incentive to seek legends be problematic? the draw of being a legendary pirate is the "celebrity" status. everyone will want to play with you / rob you, because your voyages and possessions are more valuable. that's what makes reaching the end game so special.

hopefully there are new factions, but i think it would be better if they provided content for all levels of player, but had exclusive content for Legendary Voyages.
Because PvP has no way of knowing whether or not youre a legendary pirate unless a bunch of new cosmetics open up at that level. And even then since you can give quests and take people to the hideout, non legendary players will have access to that celebrity status without actually being celebrity status as well. In turn, its not going to change any of the problems with the game, most glaringly a lack of content-both for gameplay and cosmetics.

So not sure if this has been covered but, something strange just happened. Went to an island to dig up my booty and on first dig, skeletons spawned as they do. Though when I pulled my pistol out, they all kinda froze, turned green and despawned. It didn't appear as a glitch as the whole thing was animated. Almost like a Turn Undead spell, really.

saying that some regions are more cheaters than other regions seems so wrong to me. dont mix raw numbers with percentages.
all cheats I've personaly seen are not in Chinese or any other language than English.
titanfall, cod, battlefield, what have you...
anyway, this is a discussion I really have no appetite to do, especially if other people in the discussion are not willing to even acknowledge the basics.

edit

:)
I guarantee you that if microsoft gives me an option to ban all pc clients from online but a user-selected list, you will be the first person I put on that list.
but until that happens, opting out of crossplay will mean out of all crossplay :)
You interpreted it that way. I didn't say anything specifically. I said it varies. Many of the cheats originate in Europe and Asia(Russia is technically Asia) Also as a software engineer. Most code is in English, because most coding is primarily done in English for obvious reasons.

Can't install the game one Windows store after the update. I keep getting errors. I don't mind Microsoft having their own storefront, but Windows store is absolute garbage. The Xbox division needs to turn their app into an all in one storefront. The fact that download paths and executables are hidden from the user is inexcusable, it makes solving issues like these harder as I cannot delete the game to try a fresh install.
Pretty sure running WSReset.exe clears the cache. For the install error a lot of people have found luck in reinstalling and when it errors they restart their computer where it finished on boot.

My biggest issue right now? The Galleon is just horribly balanced for a 3-person crew, there really needs to be a separate three-person ship. Bailing water is an absolute chore, and the rate at which you can bail compared to a 2-person sloop, when fighting a 2-person sloop, means you're going to lose if they're half-way competent. You need someone to fix, someone to bail, and then you either have no-one at the wheel, or no-one able to change sail directions, and no-one on cannons.

I'd love a 3 person ship and a 6 person ship. I often have more than 4 friends I'd like to play with at a given time and we end up being split.

Thanks, I'll try this.

The problem imo is that you can't leisurely explore or take your time on a quest. Its all rush rush rush before someone comes by and sinks your ship parked off shore. Not the best experience imo. Constant stress of a PVP attack.

GamePass user here, I'm going to have download the game again, in addition to the 9gb I already downloaded, right?

There is no gif to express my disappointment right now.

I feel bad for Rare. They clearly have a passion for this game and wanted to get it up and running quickly again bug free for fans but this problem has fucked them in the arse big time. I hope things get to normal quickly and people don't get turned off the game, or even worse, people use it to bash the game/Rare.

Shit happens and I'd wager they're pulling their hair out over this and putting in work to get it fixed.

No mad rush, I'll be waiting to set sail tomorrow.

Ah but for me (I know not everyone wants the same experience) that IS the tension that makes the game exciting. Its been a while since any pirates got the better of me because my head is on a swivel and I work as efficiently as I can. I've even fled islands, shaken the would be attackers, and sailed back to finish the job there heh.

And of course I've managed a couple of ambushes myself at the outpost and its a sweet sweet feeling when I waylay someone a few steps from turn in and turn that loot in myself :)

So some people are getting disheartened by bad solo sloop experiences. Saying there should be pve servers, or sloop only servers which I am against, because I want to have a shared cohesive world, and a mix of ships helps spice the game up.

1. Needs to be anti griefing in place. The best way is to offer you more options in the ferry of the damned. Allow you to scuttle your ship and spawn in another region.... and give you an option to migrate servers. This happens in other games all the time "yo this team is stomping us let's find another match"

2. Allow you to bury your treasure. If you see a ship bearing down on you there should be a way to bury the treasure and maybe give yourself a crude map to it. This is such a piratey feature!

3. Tune the experience better for solo players. The sloops already fill slower than a galleon. Make solo sloops fill slightly slower than a duo. Other things include making pigs live longer, snakes charmed longer, skeletons less beefy (excluding forts)

Yeah I would prefer a more relaxing experience. Either PVE servers or some kind of flag to allow you to not be attacked while no treasure is onboard your ship.

PVP is fun, but the threat of 24/7 PVP isn't. Sometimes I just want to sit back and relax. Can't really do that with this game atm.

Having to hide treasure, and wait for a respawn of your ship elsewhere isn't that fun.

1. That can already be done. You can also migrate servers by just exiting the game and then loading back in.

2. I like that idea but there has to be some way for other places to find your hidden treasure as well. I've had luck hiding treasure in bushes.

3. I have no issues with the sloop. I think it's fine. But yes to making pigs not get hungry as quick. I haven't had many issues with snakes. Usually have to drop it 3 times to play music on the way back to the boat.

I had an idea today that I thought was brilliant. Then I couldn't remember what it was. I remember now! You should be able to hide in barrels. Barrels on islands, floating in the sea, in enemy ships, etc. It would give more options for stowing away on vessels, and for solo players to hide from galleons and whatnot when being pursued. When inside the barrel, you could peek out (or have the hiding entirely in third person around the barrel). You can't perform any actions when inside, just hide (maybe eat bananas). Other players would only know you are inside by stabbing or shooting the barrel, at which point you would be forced out of hiding.

The Game Pass issue should now be resolved - both the ability to download and play, and the 0x80070005 error code some of you were previously seeing while downloading today's update.

PvP know you're a legendary pirate by your cosmetics... how is this a problem? Also the first people to attain this status will obtain notoriety within the community. Rare will also immortalize stories in the world.

Players getting access to Legendary experiences by hanging out with Legends is the point... that's what makes the status appealing- you become a sought after member of the community. Being with a legend isn't the same as having legendary status. They are permanent VIP. Your hoping to get on the guest list.

Your issue with content is totally unrelated. There's nothing stopping them making universal gameplay improvements and additions, while also making Legendary Status feel special.

I literally pointed out how its a problem. People who aren't legendary will have access to legendary headquarters and the loot there for doing the quests, thus granting non legendary players legendary cosmetics. Which means that you could steal treasure from someone you think is legendary when in fact theyve just had the convenience of associating with one, in turn meaning that no, your looting in PvP isn't guaranteed to give you legendary loot and in turn undermining any notion that youre actually robbing a legendary player. Thus my point of, legendary status will not be special or different because everyone will have access to it regardless of whether or not theyre legendary thus making it, not legendary.

Great news, but I have the 0x803f8001 error code, and it still doesn't work. The funny thing is the game worked perfectly until a few hours ago, then my girlfriend wanted to play, so I switched accounts, and now it's dead for both of us. Hard reset didn't help.

Is that the same error I got that wouldn't let me finish the PC update and would start over?
Not sure. Probably?

Still getting

Sea of Thieves is currently not available in your account. Here's the error code, in case you need it: 0x803F8001
It was just resolved 15-20 min ago. Give it a little more time, and I'll continue checking on status too.

I was getting an error because I had refunded the full game, but incessant checking seemed to have worked.

I've uninstalled and am now reinstalling to see if that eliminates the "looks like you need to buy this (again)" pop-up.

Microsoft needs to improve their license checking when they want Game Pass to become huge.
This is a to big issue. But yeah if you have 5 different kind of licenses on your platform it can get messy.

And this error is resolving this type of issue from happening again. Shit happens with services. I agree with you though. Needs some more automated testing.

PSA: The Xbox Chatpad works kinda sorta. The number keys 1-0 are shortcuts for various inventory items... weapons 1&2, bananas, planks, etc. And the space bar jumps for some reason. Those are the only keys that work.

You haven't stated any problem.

What makes you think players who don't have Legendary status will have access to Legendary cosmetics? They are just going on Legendary Voyages w/ legendary pirates, earning gold and XP faster. This doesn't meet shops will sell them Legendary Gear.

If you steal Legendary loot, then at least one pirate in the crew was legendary.

Being able play with a Legendary players, isn't the same as being Legendary yourself... just like hanging out with a celeb for a day isn't the same as being a celeb. You aren't even guarunteed to have such an opportunity. The idea is such that people will relish this opportunity... which makes it special.
