So, small updates from Ohio:
In regards to FC Cincinnati, they have three sites still (West End, Newport, Oakley) and have failed to announce any single one of them as the final site. In part, it's because FC Cincy ownership is pushing hard for the West End site. They have Oakley ready to go but rumors are MLS is not keen on that as the location. Newport is still there as the last resort option (but not a true last resort; I'm a Crew SC fan but heck, FCC should have just said fuck it and gone with Newport months ago) and each hour makes it seem more likely that it's either get the West End deal done or Newport is the only option left that's palatable to Garber and Co. Not to mention the port authority just said yesterday that their meeting today about the stadium is postponed because they're tired of the games.
Oh, and they had a previous deadline to make the choice of Saturday. Which apparently still stands.
Also worth noting that Cincinnati City Hall is a god damn dumpster fire right now, with the mayor trying to fire the city manager, who wants to resign on his own terms.
Meanwhile, here in Columbus, shit still sucks. Precourt is full bore ahead on McKalla Place down in Austin, while the city council there is still taking their time looking into things. They passed a resolution to study the site, and the mayor thinks they'll have the team because Precourt wants it there. I've heard rumblings of some other things going on, and I can't confirm anything (and have also been told not to specify anything), but there might be news on this one way or another in the coming weeks.
