I've been watching the 2011 and I'm enjoying it a lot, I'm not used to watching stuff of this quality so the constant good animation and great style keep me hooked. I still kinda prefer the look of the original adaptation because it's somber and more fitting, but taking into account the soundtrack and the goofy eye catches I can tell they're probably deliberately making it look far more light hearted than it should be to take newcomers by surprise, it's amusing in a way.
One gripe I have is that I don't like Kurapika's voice at all, like I'm fine with him being voiced by a woman but there isn't even an effort to sound like a boy and he doesn't strike me as a feminine guy outside of his looks, but Chrollo did mistake him for a girl despite hearing him so I guess it makes sense. Leorio's is wonderful though lol.
I just finished episode 15 where Illumi shows his real looks for the first time and I love his voice and weird vibe, haha. A weird fact, I thought he was a woman for the longest time because the latin american dub of the old anime had him voiced by one just making a regular adult woman voice and I think it constantly avoided using pronouns for him, just referring to him as Illumi (actually "Irumi" lol) and "Killua's family". Maybe they did call him his brother or sister at some point but I don't remember.
