This was an okay episode, not as enjoyable as last week but definitely better than the shitfest prior. Seems like they're slowly upping the story and events before the finale again, though there was still a couple bullshit moments in the episode. At least it was entertaining.

Hilarious how this episode was all about walker blood infecting people and how dangerous it is and here's Rick walking around with an open cut above his eye just wasting zombies left and right but nope he's fine....

That's true, but the show has never been a stickler in that reality.

I dunno, that's kind of my point.. now suddenly it matters. Don't ignore a concept for 100 hours of a show then suddenly make it a main plot point.. then of course continue to ignore it even as it becomes a main plot point in some contexts (Rick and the axe, Rick and others having open wounds just hanging out.)

They are inconsistent with other silly crap like how good/bad they are with guns at times, but that to me while annoying is different. It's not some specific plot point they suddenly hold over your head; it would be like if Eugene had never shot anyone the entire show and then suddenly he's a trained sniper and gun-kata expert.

F that little kid... I was hoping that he would get stampeded and bit by a zombie as soon as he showed up at the fence with the saviors inside. How the hell do you unlock a fence that allows you to see fully inside. It's not like he needed a closer look or had problems communicating. I hate this show.

Can't wait for Sunday.

Did anyone else notice the awkward plot point where the kid leaves the house in the middle of the day and it dramatically cuts to commercials? Then it comes back and it's immediately Carol bringing the kid back into the house. It was so awkward and pointless.

Yeah this got a side eye from me too. I wasn't sure if there was a time jump or I missed something.

Also what's the deal with the clock they panned too before commercial?

I might have to catch myself up on Fear. That season 4 trailer looks ten times more fun to watch than anything I've seen of the original show in the last two seasons.

Fear is a pretty good show at this point; the occasional "character makes stupid decision to create tension" issues arise, but the acting, writing, and characters at this point are much better than TWD. Season 1 kind of went to shit pretty fast but they got their stride back in the middle of Season 2 and have only improved since.

Season one of Fear was decent overall I thought. Season two was pretty bad the first few episodes, but it started picking up around the halfway point and got better (though not great, aside from a few moments). Season three is hands-down one of the best seasons of either show, and is leaps ahead of anything the main show has put out since season seven's first episode. That's all coming from someone who actually still enjoys the main show (though I absolutely see its flaws).

I definitely recommend watching Fear. Just like the main show, I wouldn't recommend skipping any of it, but if you can push through season two then you'll probably find something good beyond it.

Yeah, the mid season finale of season 2 was where I stopped watching. Funny how that's the point it starts getting better. Guess I am something to look forward to.

I've seen it floated around that the zombie gunk needs to be delivered via a deep wound or gash.

I mean I think at this point you just have to leave the nit picky stuff at the door when it comes to this show because it's just how it is.. lol

How did the kids even get the key to the prisoner's pen? Did I miss that or did they not even bother explaining?

I get what you're saying but they made it a point that Michonne and Siddiq both tried to patch Rick up and he warded them off...just thought it was going somewhere esp. with the entire "bio attack" angle.

Finally watched Sunday's episode, and I think that was one of the most annoying/infuriating episodes of TV I've seen in a while. I enjoyed the first half at least with the fighting, but everything else...eh.

Recognizing poor writing is not a nitpick.

I still cannot believe how incredibly dumb the car crash scene was (with Rick and Negan). Rick just blows all of his ammo shooting the underside of the car for literally no reason then allows Negan to run to a door, out in the open. The axe throwing thing was bizarre.. so was Negan suddenly hanging and falling.

Almost their entire confrontation was nonsensical and silly. I like the idea of Rick finding and using Lucile and Negan's realization.. and being in the dark/lighting stuff on fire. There are a lot of interesting ideas here but they always get buried under the stupidity of the writing. Zombies aren't even a threat anymore, you can just run around in the dark throwing them at people without much fear of actually being attacked or bitten.

It's clear that the writers just want drama for the sake of it; they don't seem to care how it comes.

I wonder what's going on in the writer's room. Do they just not care anymore? How can things be THIS contrived and still be approved by everyone?

This show is a a tier or two above Under The Dome for me at this point, main difference is it still occasionally has a good episode and I actually care about a 3-4 characters, but it's mostly mindless entertainment which is often aided by the horrible writing. The Zombie attack this week where everyone at Hilltop is suddenly deaf, blind, and unconcerned with defenses after fighting off a siege was legitimately fucking hilarious.

ffs - i invested to much on this show to stop watching. But man it's fucking so beyond terrible at times.

Rick and co cutting off limbs to prevent infection but i doubt they disinfect those same weapons they use to kill walkers day to day.
Then, the stupid kid. Seriously why do they insist on making dumb kids on these shows?

I hope these writers don't put up these episodes on the shows they written or else they will be laughed at when looking to write for other shows.

What is the timeline of Fear the Walking Dead? We're getting Post-Crazy Morgan, but I thought the zombie outbreak was a good year or two (or three) before TWD started. Now, with Morgan in the mix, Fear, which is only on season four to TWD's eight, is halfway to the current time?

I have no idea how they're going to match it up. In the middle of season 2, the showrunner said this:

If you marked off the days [that have passed since Fear the Walking Dead debuted], I think right now, by the end of the first half [of Season 2], we're getting very close to Rick waking up in Georgia.

And someone on Reddit pieced it together and figured out that season 3 of Fear takes place around the same time as season 1 of TWD. TWD did have a few time jumps in there (after the end of season 2 I think there was like a 7-8 month jump and there was another several month jump after the end of season 3) but I still don't see how things will line up to facilitate a transfer of S8 Morgan to S4 of Fear.

I'm still sort of thinking that Morgan is going to die on the main show and the Morgan we get in Fear will be from the past.

If the show would just faithfully follow the comic it would be 1000x better.
I'd have to disagree, at least partially. I absolutely do not want comic Negan in all his "glory" to be on the show. And the show has proven in the past that its deviations from the comics don't necessarily mean bad things— for example, the show's changes to the cannibals / Terminus arc, as well as how the show introduced Negan (It being split into two episodes across two seasons is something I will never defend, but if you watch them back-to-back they are effective as all hell, and imo are better than the comic).

There's no believable way that TWDs current Morgan will go to Fear. It has to be some past version of him.
I don't see it being anything other than a timeskip to bring it past the main show's current place in time... which seems really weird after how season three of Fear ended, but there's not really any other way for him to show up so far away from Georgia or Virginia that would make sense.

I also think I remember Gimple or someone else saying that Morgan's story carries over straight from the ending of season eight of the main show into season four of Fear. I don't think it would make sense for it to go "back in time" if that's the case.

There's no way for the Fear crew to end up in Texas either without a big time skip.

Well shit, they are going to screw up Fear like they did TWD - aren't they?

I'm now pretty sure it's present Morgan. So we're in for a.. what? 2 year timeskip?

They're already following it (for the most part) and people still think it's shit.

You just know there's going to be a gigantic backlash towards the hack writers after
Rick spares Negan and keeps him locked in the basement.

2+ years, I'd say. It'll take Morgan quite a while to get from Virginia to Texas even if he has a car.

As for Fear getting screwed up... I have hope, but I am a little worried. If they're doing a timeskip right from the start of the season, there really won't be any natural-feeling way to wrap up what happened towards the end of season three. I'm cautious, but still hopeful.

Almost certainly not, based on all the information that AMC/the cast has made available.

What I'm saying is that I would't be surprised if that was just a deflection to keep the surprise of his death intact.

Of course, they are airing TWD finale and the Fear premiere back to back, which does lend credence to it being a straight S8 = S4 timeline crossover.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But it's definitely not the case. They're not going to kill him off here so he can just pop up in another show.

That would be incredibly stupid, poor writing and completely pointless.

...

Oh my god, that's what they're going to do.
