Based on current rumors that would appear to be the case. Just the curse of being an early adopter. By overpaying in the first year you make it more affordable for those who follow.
So far it's only an analyst making a guess, so I'd take it with a large grain of salt still.

Honestly though I don't feel like I need much bigger phone either.

I bought the X thinking the X Plus would be much more expensive, if it turns out to be $999 I'll be kind of annoyed.
As someone who carries their phone in his pockets. the X is already too large. When cycling I notice it and worry it will fold.. :p

I legitimately worry about my headphones breaking off one of these days.

Huh. At work, I usually have my phone on the desk right next to my keyboard. When I received notifications on my 5s, the vibration was so loud, I could clearly hear it even when several coworkers were talking. Right now, the room is almost silent, and I still can't hear the vibration of my X. (Actually, at first I thought it wasn't working at all.. I already checked my settings and searched on Google..)

You aren't kidding! Thanks for the recommendation!

Forgot to thank you for this app recommendation, it's awesome

Oh, I didn't find it by myself. It was posted here before. I just searched this thread for "wallpaper" and saw several mentions of it.

Someone here had asked for good wallpapers and I brought it up.

It's amazing as you can easily blur your wallpaper of choice in order not to be distracting on the home screen.

Yeah the X's vibration reminds me more of the haptic vibration used on like the MacBook touchpad. It feels like a click more than a shake if that makes sense? I like it a lot more tbh.

Fake edit: I was double checking if you can change this and yeah, in the settings you can change your vibration to Alert or something and it's more traditional. Also I had no idea but you can create your own vibration pattern for alerts/ringtones and that's both fantastic and real dumb.

I have my vibration set to two long vibrations and it's nowhere near as powerful as my 6 was iirc. Half the time when it's on my desk I have no idea it went off. I used to be able to feel the earth vibrate when my 6 got a text

I had a black silicone case for my 6s and really didn't like it. It gives a nice grip but dust stuck to it like nothing else, it was harder to pull out of my pocket and it became weirdly sticky over time. Never buying one of those again so I just got a leather one for my X and it's great.

Got my X today for a nice discount and I really really like it so far, the screen in particular.

To me it's not revolutionary though because apart from the screen, it's 'just an iphone'. The user experience is almost identical to my old 6s.

Went with the leather folio in cosmic blue. Will probably look like shit in a few months

At this point I'm just going to assume that Messages in the Cloud and AirPlay 2 aren't coming until iOS 12.

Which, I mean, fine. I'm glad Apple's QAing the fuck out of them instead of releasing them while there are still bugs.

New Animoji and iMessage sync. Still wish I had my jailbrake though.
iMessage cloud sync seems to be out.

So is iMessage still broken in 11.3? It's really the thing that makes me hate iOS 11. Messages not syncing properly across devices, messages showing up out of order (this is a widespread issue), and frequent send failures on watch LTE.

Just got one and installing a 2.7GB update. Not been able to restore the phone from iTunes (my old 5s). Dunno if the update will fix it. Will be a pain to manually add everything.

Welp. Waited 2hrs to download (crappy internet connection after moving) and error. Waste of time. Don't think it's even stored anywhere because when I went and looked at getting it installed again it wanted to download again. Fuck that, useless piece of shit.

Holy fuck, my iPhone 7 Plus (RED) battery's health is at 91% and the phone is only 10 months old. I'm not sure I use it all that much for the battery not to be closer to 100%.

I can't believe they pulled the imessage sync again. I just want to sync the messages from my old iphone 6 already, so I can sell it. Should have just installed the beta, but I thought this time it would stay in for sure.

I think it's safe to say that Apple is really, really, REALLY afraid to screw people's messages.

Watch the feature coming out of beta and doing it anyway.

99% battery health yo.

It's an estimation anyway, don't be surprised if that number yo-yos a bit

My battery is apparently at 100% and I've been using this phone very heavily since it came out

My launch 8+ is 99%.

Also consistently scores way above on benchmarks than the average.

I'm pretty good for a while.

Yep, this. I suspect it works relatively easily for people with just two devices (say, one iPhone/one iPad) but when you get to one ipad/one mac/one iphone/one watch, or even more than that, the odds of something going wrong start to mount pretty quickly.

This is the sort of feature, also, that would be *much* better off rolled out to users very slowly one group at a time. Uploading a bunch of iMessages to iCloud servers, and then reconciling the differences between different conversations, sounds fucking *awful* if you do it with the entire userbase all at once (especially if it includes media, which it probably does). But Apple don't work that way, people who weren't in the first group to get the feature would bitch about it endlessly, et cetera.

Had the X since Christmas, still 100% with a lot of use.
Mine too. I think 8 and X might be the first iphones that are using really high-end quality batteries (or the battery charging management hardware). I know there were tech blogs that pointed out how for a while now Samsung guarantees their batteries to deteriorate something like 5% per year max, where Apple's statement about that was something far worse. On top of that, Apple did claim that for iPhone 8 and X they've improved something about the battery management, as they expect people to be leaving them all the time on wireless charging pads now.

I don't blame them at all on iMessage; take the time to make it bulletproof because the bad PR from lost messages would haunt them for years. But that lack of AirPlay 2 is pretty embarrassing at this point.
