That's an older version isn't it - they patched the bino-boost out(?)

It's impressive but like the DS3 speedruns where half of it is an invisible player running through unloaded OOB areas - it's just not that fun to watch.

Cool dialogue but the final game version being only the cutscene is better. Fits more with how BB delivers the narrative.

I do wonder if Simon killing Maria still holds in the final version though. After all the dat description in the final version still says that, and it wasn't intended to be shown even in the "beta" version.

It's amazing how I struggled with the throne watchers and this guy comes in naked with a Dragon's tooth and just glitches one of them into falling off a cliff and then somehow gets Nashandra to not even aggro.

It's like I'm trying like a madman to bend the spoon and the speedrunners are totally like "dude there's no spoon what are you babbling about?"

Where in the game are you? I almost uninstalled the game during the first few hours since it's so punishing.

DLC finished and right at the gate to the final Boss.

It's just that halfway through the game it in some way lost me? I took a break and came back to it four days ago and my experiences kinda strengthened my opinion of the game but I still can't really tell why.

That's what annoys me: not being able to tell why I feel in a way "apathetic(?)".

Man the Capra Demon is not well designed. It's impossible to see shit in the arena and the entire battle basically depends on luck of the draw (if the game will let you get up the stairs or not). I don't feel like I'm losing due to playing badly, I feel like I'm losing due to the camera making it impossible to tell where the fuck everything is.

It's a very poorly designed boss fight. Whatever they were trying to do, I suppose they succeeded but it's not much fun. There's a few things you can do to stack the cards in your favour - The best thing to do when entering the fog is nothing.... for a beat. Often Capra will do a leaping attack, making it easy to roll dodge past. Wolf Ring helps if you've no poise, helps to stop the dogs interupting your attacks at them. Hidden body is an option, as is alluring skulls/aural decoy. Not saying they're great options, but it can be fun to play with these kind of things.

Then you could just throw shit at him from outside whilst you go shopping for some poison arrows, then hang at the Depths door waiting for it to open :p

Beat the Capra. Got cursed in the depths. First time I've ever been cursed, and now I gotta haul it all the way back to the undead female merchant to buy a purging stone. Ugh.

I already miss having the Lordvessel.

You're at the Depths bonfire? It's like a 60 second run back if that! They were being nice when they placed her so close. :)

I realized I could just trade a cracked red eye orb to Snuggly for two purging stones for free, which was nice. This let me by Great Soul Arrow from Griggs. I went back down and actually had some slight trouble with the Gaping Dragon, mainly because I forgot about his tail swipe which is a OHKO on this squishy character. Otherwise, the fight was just me spamming L1 a lot, mostly, lol

With the souls I grabbed Magic Weapon and Great Heavy Soul Arrow. I'm starting to become slightly overpowered...

I know this is probably a stupid question, but I have tried googling!

Will this have a digital version on PS4? I'm thinking of getting all Dark Souls games (and Bloodborne) on one console in digital format and then keeping it as my Souls machine for ever...

Darkroot Garden is showing the cracks in my build. The foliage is fast and often gangs up on me and the huge stone guys are so beefy I have trouble killing them (and they kill me in, like, two hits).

I'm pretty sure it will. Do any games get physical only releases nowadays?

I'm going through the SotfS DLC before I sink my teeth into Bloodbourne.

Man, Brume Tower is so good. I love the design and the way it looks, and just exploring and gradually unraveling it little by little. I've been clearing out the Ashen Idols, but so far I still don't know what that does other than stopping the Curse fog and keeping the floating armors from reviving.

Souls games are never as fun for me as when I'm blindly exploring a new area.

Except for the Iron Passage. Iron Passage can suck it, though.

Darkroot Garden is proving that this spellsword build is not viable, sigh. Might as well delete the character now.

Level up your HP. Almost nothing in Dark Souls kill you THAT fast unless you stay at base.

The crystal golems are resistant to magic, but deleting your character because of that seems like an extreme overreaction?

I'm at the forest, not where the golems are.

I haven't levelled up VIT at all due to pouring most of my level ups either into DEX for my Katana, ATT for more spells, and INT for my spells.

You kill everything so fast in the early game areas that leveling VIT is just a waste.

Killed Natural Gas Blue flame Smelter Demon. I fought the regular red Smelter Demon so many times trying to kill it myself and helping others as a summon that I had its patterns down. Spell Quartz Ring+3 and Small Blue Burr minimized his AOE damage so that I only had to worry about the swipes.

One example of an area leading to a boss that is much, much worse than the actual boss.

Man, never fails lol. I've played all Soulsborne games since Demon's Souls, and levelling up HP is never a waste and I've always done it (and capped it at 40-50). But yet I keep hearing people say that, and then they, inevitably, invariably... complain about getting one- or two-shotted.

I mean.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Stone Guardian enemies are also resistant to magic I think, story-related I assume given the forest is Oolacile.

I've never had any trouble in the forest with a magic build though. Upgrade your weapon and buff with magic weapon, the trees should go down in one or two hits. If you have a decent vertical attack or just a leaping attack you can kill the ones in the ground before they even pop up.

I do kill the trees very quickly but they often come in packs where hitting one means getting hit by the others. Their attacks do like 50-80% of my health bar in one hit, shit is ridiculous.

The forest hunters are even worse, the knight and the dude with the axe kill me in literally one hit and I do like nothing to them. I can't even grind off of them like I did in my first run of the game, sigh.

Also Sif just kills me in one hit too lol

You don't really need to kill Sif rn, unless you want to do 4 kings super early?

Depending on how you approach them the trees don't gang up you - the only ones I can think that do are the ones at the far end near Shiva's set. All the others in the Moonlight Butterfly area can be taken one on one if you approach the pop-up ones slowly. Also if you never pick up the measley soul item in the ambush alcove, the 3 there will forever be pop-up ones, great for farming moss.

I did that for my first run of the game as well:

Burg > Parish > Depths > Darkroot > Blighttown > Sen's

I didn't know you were supposed to do it any other way!

Speaking of, I thought you can only do the Four Kings once you have the Lordvessel?

All you need is the ring from Sif so 4 Kings could be the second boss you fight if you really wanted.
If you kill them before placing the Lordvessel with Frampt, you can join the Darkwraith covenant with kaathe.

8 weeks until Dark Souls returns :-)

I was hoping I could finish Bloodborne and DS3 before the remaster came out but that is not going to happen. SofS alone took me like 70 hours, and that's without the DLC. It takes me forever to finish these games.

This probably has already been discussed in this thread but, what changes are you expecting / hoping for? I don't think we'll really get much of a graphical update. I'm just expecting a clean, higher res 60fps version of Dark Souls and that's fine. The game holds up and looks better than DS2.

I do hope they bring some of the improvements to the menus and UI from the sequels. I'd love to be able to cash in 10 Souls of a whatever Soldier in one pop. At the very least I hope we get upressed art and text for the inventory screen and the HUD.

that is basically what I want too. I still play the game on the ps3, so all of that would already be nice, and I really don't want any enemy replacement bullshit.

I don't understand why we haven't seen more. That's worrisome for me.

Don't know if you saw, but on the Dark Souls Remastered thread, some journalists have been playing it for previews that people think will be rolled out next week.

It is weird though - it's not like they need to keep the story, bosses or anything that secret!
