Don't know if you saw, but on the Dark Souls Remaatered thread, some journalists have been playing it for previews that people think will be rolled out next week.

It is weird though - it's not like they need to keep the story, bosses or anything that secret!
Right, which makes me worry about frame rate.

wellthereitis.gif. Lecture Hall was once a part of Byngerwerth.

As much as I love the idea of areas being pulled out of the waking world and into the Nightmare, I still really wish they had kept the actual school elements of Byrgenwerth in there. For much of the first half of the game, I was so excited to eventually see the Bloodborne-style college people were alluding to. Then I got to a small building with a ground floor, a tiny student lounge, and a telescope. Not even worthy of being called an annex, so certainly not the famous institution of learning from which most of the game's plot originated. Probably still my only notable disappointment with the game.

I just started playing this Bloodborne game, I have no idea where I am going and I'm scared to walk around corners but it's fun so far. Pretty too

Gentlemen, after 76 tries I finally beat the Fume Knight.

Praise the Sun.

I had to break my rule of not looking stuff up and I watched a couple of videos of people fighting him. I actually prefer fighting with the Velstadt helm on to trigger his second phase from the get go since I find his initial phase much harder to deal with.

I'm conviced this is a fight that is just made much more difficult by summoned NPC phantoms (or co-op phantoms unless they really know what they are doing).

Gj on beating Fume Knight. He's a real motherfucker (and one of the best boss fights in the whole game).

That's why I loved putting my soapstone down at his bonfire lol. Lots of fun to co-op with 4 people; I've almost never seen a victory where every phantom survived.

I gotta play DS2 again. Just make myself accept the fact that it is ugly, but embrace that ugliness.

If only all areas looked as good as Heide, Brume Tower or Drangleic Castle.

Shaded Ruins and Harvest Valley are just...appalling. That's some PS2 tier geometry right there.

Thanks Luap. It was frustrating as hell but also incredibly rewarding to beat.

I think I'm gonna farm Sun Medals in here for a while. I usually get summoned instantly after putting down the Soapstone. I just wish the hosts didn't summon the NPCs; they just make him so much more difficult.

The worst is when you get a host that didn't bother to clear the Ashen Idols.

I spent like 4 hours on FK the first time then, when I did my run to see if I would still have the same (bad) opinions about the game, I did it first try. DS2 is the easiest for me.

Right? Those two areas are legit ugly. The ugliest areas in all Soulsborne by far, IMO. But the highs of DS2 are legit good. Heide, Brume Tower, No Man's Wharf, Dragon Aerie and Shrine of Amana all look very beautiful. I'm guessing the uglier areas were just really rushed. From's environmental artists are usually much better than that.

Gonna venture a wild guess and say Cathedral Ward and he picked up the top hat hunter set thing. ;)
Yes, it was there

Im really liking the game so far. The architecture is really pretty and the atmosphere is tense and scary. So far ive beaten father gasciogne, the giant black dog on the bridge, and the giant white dog in the church (i had to get help for this one). And I stopped at the town with the female zombies(?) dancing around the weird statue thing.

I dont really know whats going on with the story yet, but I'm leaning towards there being some kind of weird werewolf epidemic? Everybody looks wolf-like, so thats my reasoning

Yes its my first time playing. Im using the axe weapon and the pistol

Have you got parrying down yet - it makes some of the boss fights (including Father G) a lot easier if you can do it. The story is pretty difficult to understand on a first play through, but you're on the right path given the evidence you've seen so far...

If you've beaten Vicar Amelia, did you interact with the skull on the altar? If you did, you'd have got the most confusing cutscene of all time and the game world should have progressed towards night time. It actually will have made the area you're in slightly harder as some new enemies will spawn out of the ground. Try to make sure you find:

the entrance to Old Yharnam, it's from another spoke out of Oedon Chapel.

I havent done parrying at all. Ive just been using the dodge.

Yes I touched the skull. I didnt know what anything in the cutscene meant so I just went to the Henwick (?) Lane place since it was so close and the enemies there seemed weak. I will try to find that entrance next time I play.

Ive just been trying to find the areas with the most manageable enemies so I can get blood to improve my character. I struggled a lot while trying to get to Amelia lol

If you want to practice parrying, the big guys that carry bricks are the ones to do it on. The two near the first lantern's shortcut are your best bet - just wait until they're at the top of a swing and shoot. Walk up to them and press R1 for the visceral attack- once you get it down it's one of the most satisfying things to do!

I actually leave Vicar Amelia until after Hemwick and the other place I mentioned above - both are dead ends eventually, but you can level up through them and make the fight against Amelia easier. Also, you should try co-oping bosses after beating them. You can get a lot of blood echoes that way and it means you can relax a little bit and enjoy the boss fight more, as you don't really lose much if you die, only the blood vials and bullets you've used in the process. Vicar Amelia is really good for co-oping.

wellthereitis.gif. Lecture Hall was once a part of Byngerwerth.

I thought this was common knowledge.

(BB spoilers?)

I mean, you have a place called Lecture Hall, and the school is not where it's supposed to be. I'm pretty sure some item descriptions already imply that part of Brygenwerth was pulled into the nightmare.

---

I finished Bloodborne yesterday! What an awesome fucking game. The combat's near-perfect (only needs something to eliminate vial farming, like giving you extra vials if you have less than five or something), the world and level design is intricate, the lore's wonderful, the bosses are unforgettable (Micolash, my god).

Lore wise is common knowledge yeah but we didn't fully know if FROM wanted it to be a seamless area till now. I mean the lore bit about the Hall being pulled into the nightmare was probably done aftee they saw they couldn't finish the Lecture Hall and pulled it out from Byrgenwerth.

Okay, so as someone who really likes Monster Hunter, I have repeatedly heard the phrase "A hoonter must hoont" from fans... And now I know where it came from lol. I never thought to google it before and now I'm glad I didn't

What the fuck... I don't think this game is about werewolves anymore. I got the frenzy effect again but this time I was picked up by some monster and it teleported me somewhere

Thats cool. Did you try to stun him? Work out the timing?
I beat him using the music box to stun. And I figured out that I should just dodge toward him instead of away because of his reach.

I have a hard time with the hunter (?) enemies in general. Theres some guy in old yharnam next to a machine gun that just owns me

Edit: ahhh i beat the bloodstarved guy on my second try. This game is awesome

Why the heck when I connect my PS4 controller Steam recognizes it and it works in BigPicture mode, but Dark Souls III doesn't?

So, at Xmas I was given the Dark Souls Board Game (it's not that great) and decided to teach myself how to paint miniatures. Now, after much watching of YouTube videos and practising on cheap models, I've finally finished the non-boss figures! This is my first time ever painting miniatures and I've found it relaxing and - thanks to the joys of drybrushing - not as difficult as it first appeared. I've uploaded a shot of all the figures below to let you have a gander at. I've tried to keep the colour scheme fairly close to Dark Souls which has made it more of a complicated colouring in set than anything else, but it's given me a new appreciation of how consistent the colours and materials in the games are. So much silver...

Next, on to the Winged Knight!

Apologies for photo quality - taken with phone and my first time uploading a photo as well!

Thanks! To be fair, that's the reason why I wanted it as well, but I wasn't going to pay £100 for it. My wife organised most of her family to chip in and get it together, which made it an excellent Xmas present. Nobody I know is likely to play it and, although it is one player, the person who put 90-120 minutes on the box is a liar.

I'm not sure what to do for my Dark Souls remaster playthrough, build wise.

I want to use something a bit obscure, but I'm not sure what. I was thinking of going Channeller's Trident, but I know that's a pain in the ass to get, especially from the one in the Parish.

That would be a lot of restarted runs!

I'm also wondering what run to do. I was going to do SL1 but done it a bunch of times before and thinking something more chill but still a little off the beaten path.
