Hilltop looks mighty clean considering it was filled with a walker massacre not even a day ago.

We better find out what Carl wrote word for word at the start of next episode!

Also I didn't think I'd be feeling Jadis this much. Getting rid of the rest of her crew was a good move.

lol....talking dead. Good times.

I hope the passenger isn't someone that's going to blow up Dwight's cover. Would be cool if it's someone else.

I'm just gonna assume the letter says "Shane was right" until I'm shown otherwise.

Nothing brings me more joy than seeing the ratings showing less viewers than the week before.

Blown away this arc isn't even close to over.

Man, Rick the Prick indeed. Can't wait for his unearned 'regret' after reading Carl's letter, when it likely says most of what he had already said in person that Rick the Prick pissed on. Michonne should've kicked his ass out properly until he read that letter.

Negan likely picked up Laura. It'll be interesting to see how Dwight is lasting as long as he seems to be in the preview. The only other players out there would be Heath and Aaron (none other from the Saviors), and Aaron isn't going to come back without Seaside. But to bring back Heath out of the blue this late in the season, who is an Alexandrian, would be clunky.

Simon won't last the episode guaranteed at least. Some real consequence is in order and this can't be written off unless they undo that part of Negans character. Oh, wait, this is TWD, so there is a chance of that.

While the cat has been out of the bag, all the Morgan marketing for Fear took out any tension with his tussle with Jared. On the other side of that, I was legit concerned a walker would pop out of the water and tag Carol. Would hate to lose the character, but it would've been a great moment with the lighting and show Morgan that his leaving has consequence as well.

Edit: That all said, I enjoyed the episode for what it was. Loving these quieter moments with JDM's Negan, and who would have thought Jadis would be the character she is now?

Everyone shoots everyone but no one wants to kill the leaders when they have a chance.

Rick, Negan, Jadis, they either get let go or captured till they escale.

Also, how exactly did Negan get a gun and flares? He just rolled up to a bag and grabbed those items?

These characters are flip flopping a few times a season now. Wish people would stay consistent a little longer and Morgan hasn't been good since season 1. He sucks with his emotional/mental issues.

How has Rick survived so long? He sucks at so much lol.

Lol I really cannot believe how little effort is put into plotting/confrontation.

Jadis just randomly finds Negan, knocks him out while driving. Rick and Morgan, who have both spent 8 seasons learning how to track and hunt/survive on their own out in the forest are crept up on, in broad daylight, by random Negan goons.. and just so happen to both get cleanly knocked out (or knock Rick out and capture them both). Now Negan just randomly finds someone walking around on the side of the road in the middle of the night on his way home.

Negan is tied down completely, then happens to not only get out of it in a few seconds while Jadis briefly walks away but she leaves a gun and a flare right next to him. Negan even says something like "you must not think I'm so bad because you left a gun next to me".. so I guess they at least thought about it, which makes things even more perplexing, considering how moronic it would be for Jadis to actively plan that out or allow him around a gun because she doesn't outright hate him/think he's evil. Unless we're just supposed to assume he's taunting her.

That said, there were some decent character moments with the A team and they've been calling back/tying in stuff from early on in the show, so that's a plus. The actors who play Carol and Michonne do some heavy lifting when they're on screen. And Morgan's actor as well.

They've finally started giving Negan stuff to do aside from taunt/threaten people and lean back/point Lucille at people. Too bad it's not nearly as compelling as it could be.

But man.. they really don't even fucking try anymore with the plot. Just literally "these people sneak up behind/knock them out in broad daylight because we need X to happen"

It's also really anticlimactic IMO that Rick is just insulting Carl's memory by turning into an even bigger asshole. We've already seen this arc from Rick and Carl's last words should have pushed him to want to live up to his final wishes.

Seriously crazy to me. And it's not like goons who barely escaped are really gunna wait around and get the jump on Rick/Morgan (the opposite makes much more sense, if anything). But yeah, not the first time this shit has happened

Best part of the episode was longhair's death. That guy was insufferable and Morgan's reaction was gold.

I think that's been the point. Negan has a crew of Grade-A shitbags doing the musclework and he is brutal when he decides to put the hammer down, but at the core of it he feels this method of order is the way to help people. The method is wrong and he deserves to be brought down for it, but at least he cares past that.

On the flip side, Rick has the methodology down better in working side by side for the betterment of everyone and is surrounded by generally good people, but he's the loose cannon/wild card that doesn't really care about others. Look at what he was going to do to the Alexandrians. Before that, Aaron. He didn't kill Morales because Morales had the jump on him, and his line seems to be babies. If it wasn't for this war, who knows what Rick would have done to Hilltop if Gregory pushed him too far, or if he was the one to come across Oceanside instead of Tara or Aaron/Enid. If it wasn't for Carl, Rick would have been closer to the Governor at best.

Decent episode. I didn't expect Rick and Morgan to betray the saviors after promising to bring them to the hilltop. But they lied. I expected only Jared to get killed
Poor Morgan though. He is suffering a lot.

I think every episode since Carl's farewell tour has been solid. The things happening now have given me reason to care about the consequences and the future outcome. The Tara/Dwight drama felt forced at first but now it's led to some pretty nice drama, and raised the stakes for Dwight in so many ways. Not only is he looking over his shoulder due to Negan, but also Simon, and the Hilltop, because part of him was hoping Tara and the group would understand the intent of his clean arrowhead, but there's no way he's entirely confident in that being the case. I would be stunned if he makes it out of these next two episodes alive.

The episode before last with the Negan/Rick fight was entertaining though ridiculous. And this was good too.

But come on, last week was absolutely awful. I can look over plot holes and "TV stuff" but last week had major issues from start to finish. No one guarding the door, sleeping with the door open, "stupid kid" writing crutch, no one watching the sick people who could die, etc.

Second half of last week was ridiculous. Other than that I think the show is on the up swing.

This episode was surprisingly good. I could have done without Carol and Morgan walking around talking about nothing but other than that I liked it. People are throwing Rick under the bus for what he did, and I agree it is definitely the worst thing he's ever done, but I think we should give him a little bit of slack. Everything he's been through and just losing his son like that...this will probably be Rick's lowest point.

I also disagree that if Rick embraces Carl's philosophy now it's unearned. I think falling to a new low and then that conversation with Morgan, the self reflection (literally), and reading the letter were perfect in setting Rick up for his big change. Now if he DOESN'T change I'll be upset about it.

I don't like the Henry stuff but they redeemed all that tonight, honestly. No one's saying it's perfect, it's way better than it has been in a while though.

I think they need to pull the old identical twin neegan storyline introduced though a backstory with the end reveal being there is 1 evil neegan and a good neegan...the evil one is directing everything........that's all that would entice me back to watching this...it's literally going nowhere...I'm really having a hard time trying to watch this

I agree, I couldn't buy that come to Jesus moment for him after what he had just done a few minutes earlier to that dude who was begging for life..
