I guess there just must have been a high number of new players this weekend.
My stats over the weekend were trending slightly higher than normal for me as well. Easter especially.

At night I had a bit more trouble so maybe by then the kids all logged off :P

People had family over yesterday. "Hey non gamer relative, have you heard of this huge hit game called Fortnite, come give it a try." My guess at least.

Am I getting better at the game or is there a hidden MMR for matchmaking? Won 4 games yesterday.

I have been playing since January now and still haven't won a game on my own, lots of second places though but my building is abysmal and I rarely get rockets which is usually what kills me.

Duos and Squads I seem to be able to do better in even solo, maybe putting too much pressure on..... or im just crap.

I just can't get over how satisfying the Burst Rifle is to use. I swear, I'm just leaving scars behind at this point as long as I have a green. It's insane, especially when you get that multiheadshot.

Can someone help me ? i'm playing shooter mostly on PC and I switch to console for playing with some friends that don't want to play against K/M players but I can't seems to find my sensitivity, aiming on console is just terrible and the PC tricks don't seems to work on console ( strafing right and left while aiming to something small and keep the cursor on it as much as possible ), how the hell do you find your sensibility on console ? any videos videos, tips ?

The auto aim on consoles is terrible. Either causing you to track your target too slowly or zip right over them. Needs a complete rework. Also, you'll still play against KB/M on consoles since its supported

Yeah the aim assist on console is terrible but in this game, it's even worse but I'm not sure about disabling it, I'm sure the KB/M players on console are a tiny minority so that's probably why it's ok for my friends...

I tried to disable it and it didn't work out well. Sniping is the biggest issue, it drags on people and makes your reticule too slow, but it's okay with everything else.

If they had a specific option to disable it for scopes it'd be a lot better.

Disabling it is a no go because of how erratic movement in this game is. It's quite the shot situation

Seems like they are adding emotes faster than updates these days...

Any word on when they are fixing the shooting?

Meanwhile, at Epic:

"Hey you. Yeah you. Art guy. The game has a lot of bugs and we need to implement some new features. Looks like you're working on... a dance? Well, stop that. We need you to look into this issue where sometimes a player drops his pickaxe on the ground."
"Uhh... ok."
10 minutes later.
"Whats... 'code'"?

People winning 12 times in a weekend. I have yet to win once, ever. Ha.

Keep in mind that these people winning 12 games a weekend are EXTREMELY dedicated to playing this game. You'll notice that they are also heavily invested both from a time and monetary perspective. Winning is fun, but I would cast aside these people as the outliers from how often a regular person should expect to win while playing Fortnite.

Personally I win about 6% of my games played, and I'm pretty happy with that performance. Once you get your first win following wins seem to happen with more frequency.

That was just on Sunday :P

If you count Friday, I had 29 wins over the weekend. I have ~1500 games played so wins come more easily now. Once you get good at building and you don't land at Tilted Towers, it's actually pretty easy to win. I have a 49% win-rate over the last 7 days.

If I landed at Tilted, I'd probably win way less. Because Tilted Towers is basically its own Battle Royale. I prefer to land at Fatal Fields or Pleasant Park. Or that motel northeast of Pleasant. Sometimes Anarchy, but I prefer to head to Anarchy and cleanup after I go to the motel. I get a lot of llamas in that region, too.

Winning is fun, but I would cast aside these people as the outliers from how often a regular person should expect to win while playing Fortnite.
Very much this. While I'm not a hardcore player (can only play after my kid goes to sleep typically), I have put in a ton of time over the course of 5 months. And I'm usually pretty good at shooters in general. I had an 11% win-rate in PUBG which I actually think is pretty decent for that game.

Mobile is finally available for everyone on iOS without an invite now.

Going to give it a shot on my iPhone SE.

Not quite sure what makes this game quite so addictive. However, it's easy to lose hours playing this game. I'm a teacher in the UK and I'm often asking my students how to get better.

YOOOOOO FIRST DUB.
Been playing for about a week and I'm generally just goofing off and trying to complete challenges. But I really knuckled down here and by the end, my heart was going a million miles a minute. I flipped out at the win, so badly that I forgot to save the clip...but I took a pic like a dork.

Now to never do it again.

Servers were awful today on Xbox. Even ran into a big where the bus wouldn't let anyone drop and kept on going past the island. Eventually everyone left was dumped in the middle of the island and there were constant times where you couldn't switch weapons and had to switch to build mode and back to regain any control.

A little lazy, from twitter

Am I like, super off in this assessment? The lack of tutorial certainly doesnt help so maybe I need to try the regular non BR mode for a while

Plays one round, is bad at game, thinks game is bad and the millions of fans of said game are offbase.

Yeah, sounds super off to me.
hehe, Im planning on playing more! However it was not a good first impression especially since there is not a tutorial at all so you immediately get lumped in with teammates with expectations.

What makes the game special? It just seems really, really average (and not just from playing one game)

I would start with solo before playing with randoms. Playing with friends is okay too since they'll help you start out.

Just have the expectation that you'll die often. Just keep jumping back in.

Yeah, play a solo. Land somewhere a little more remote. Learn a little bit about the mechanics of resource/weapon gathering and building. General rule of thumb, the larger the POI on the map, the more loot will be available but also you'll have to compete against more people for those early resources. You just did the equivalent of running into the first gomba in Super Mario Bros. and immediately shutting it all down, lol. There is an amazing game underneath that completely manageable barrier to entry.

You queued into squad mode for your first game. That's the biggest mistake you made. Play solo and drop into smaller unnamed locations to get a feel for the mechanics.

Got it on iOS and I still can't get over how cool it is to play Fortnite on my iPhone with people on other platforms. Absolutely getting shitted on but still. This is cool.

Can't wait for the inevitable Switch release. Taking names on the go with portable analog sticks.

Been a while since I played, what are the red circles on the map now? I also noticed that certain areas if you land there will change a flag to your emblem?

The red targets are a part of the weekly challenges. Just land of em to complete the challenge. The flag is another challenge to land at the summit of mountains.

First of all, you need to like the appeal of Battle Royale. The idea of starting with nothing. Finding items. Quickly getting an edge over your opponents. Acquiring more, better items. And just the randomness of it all.

It's popular for just how replayable it is. Every match is different. Everything is random. Once you get to know the map and how to play, you can just do ridiculously fun things. Like... a lot of the stuff in this video (there's a new one every day).

The appeal to me is just the numerous ways you can play the game and outplay your opponents to win.

You definitely need to play solos to get the hang of it though. There really should be some kind if introductory tutorial. Hell, even just a quick video that goes over how to find golden chests, some building basics, and what places to drop for new players.

Hey! I got 2nd earlier! Minimal building.
Being proficient at building is the difference between stuck in the top 5 and winning games.

I will say that landing at tilted and getting used to playing aggressively makes the final 5 sooo much easier. You can tell a difference in shootouts who snuck into the final 5 and those who earned their rare equipment through engagements. Scaring people hiding in bushes is extremely enjoyable.
