Yep. Normally it works perfectly fine, but for some attacks the knockback on the guard is enough that you don't get the counter attack. Bazel's roar is one such attack.

Decided to give in and get Guard 3 for my CB set. I was so fucking tired of not being able to guard point -> SAED Bazel roars.
Now every time that bastard roars (which is a lot of the time) he gets to eat a shit-ton of damage. Sucks to lose Guard Up, but there really aren't that many uses for it that you can't just dodge normally.
I see what you're saying but I still think it's an oversight. The percentages should be adjusted more significantly according to what you break, rather than be so close together. The percentages are close together, so you really can get anything from a silver reward. That won't make it less frustrating when you want that horn and the game just keeps giving you tails. But maybe it helps to know this part of the rewards is completely RNG and not some weird oversight on Capcom's part.
Sucks that this one event is apparently the only decent way to get them.Gotta wait for Spring event.....farm Tempered Jho for higher chances of streamstones.
in video format
Huh, I've fired an SOS flare for 3 consecutive tempered nergigante quests and gotten no other people to join. Sure it was a crappy 2 reward quest but still. Player base might be starting to tank on Xbox One...
20 seconds. I always forget about them.Yeah I know but still. Impressive.
How long does a might pill last? I know mega demondrug lasts until you cart, I think?

So I bumped into bezelgese today for the 1st time I am still wearing odogoron gear, at just hit level 6 monsters. Getting hit by a scale is a 1 shot. Any tips? Builds? I've already switched to a faster more agile weapon class after odor. I went from charge blade/ switch axe to insect glaive/bow. This monster is next level help

we're too busy hitting our TCS so when he limp no one ready to flash him, could cut 10 or more seconds and only need 2 hit. That poor nerg couldn't decide who to hit, and then it was over.
my gs build for refference
yeah gs charge is the best damage in the game plus we all eat might pills.
thats our second try, our first takes 2"57.
I personally don't mind the silver/gold reward boxes as they are. The biggest problem right now with breaking parts is how, say, breaking a horn still doesn't guarantee a horn as a bonus reward. For Kushala Daora there's a 66% chance you get a horn, 32% you get a scale and 2% you get a gem. That's just another unneeded layer of RNG especially if you consider breaking the horns isn't easy in the first place.I see what you're saying but I still think it's an oversight. it all started as fun run all gs and that turned to this (I remember you said didn't have a proper gs set) , imagine if we all take more serious approach.I should make a build for our GS runs. I basically run focus, weakness exploit 3 and utility skills. I bet we could do sub 2 if I had a more min/max style build (and we had caught him with a flash).

What I like to see is a guaranteed 100% chance of getting a horn, with the scale and the gem (and perhaps even a second horn) as an extra reward decided by RNG. You could consider them the result of collateral damage when you break the first horn.
But first and foremost: you break a horn, you get a horn. That's how it should work.
I tried out the heavy bow gun on tempered vaal solo. Took me almost 30 minutes to kill it.
Seems like I need to get the hang of the weapon still. It's fun but I get kinda bored using it. Maybe I'm missing something.
I don't know, I feel the incentive to keep playing is already provided by weapons and armor requiring multiple horns/fangs/whatever. Even with guaranteed horn drops (and only when you break the horn), grinding is still required. You wouldn't play the game much if everything dropped 100%
It's a grind game. It's just how it is. Horns do clearly need some sort of increase but not a guarantee.
Getting to maximum damage potential is harder than DB or even Insect Glaive/Charge Blade, and Foresight Slash literally a harder-to-pull-but-more-rewarding version of Lance's Counter Thrust.
I feel like I'm in the minority, but as I solo'd pretty much all of the story and I've only crafted what was necessary money isn't a problem for me. 6 million and counting! I did spend a chunk of time using nothing but the bandit mantle (stopped now, running around hoovering that shit up is annoying) and I do save my high zenny reward investigations for my vouchers but other than that just the full reward value from soloing has served me well.Money is my biggest issue along with Majestic horns being insanely hard to get. I have the mats for so many things just so little money.
Yeah, once you take the odd cart into consideration it definitely gets much worse than a quarter.I've got 5.5 million Zenny and I haven't even bothered to sell any of my hundreds upon hundreds of spare monster bits. I've got full sets of all the Elder Dragon armor, Augmented and Upgraded. I've got a Rarity 8 weapon of every type.
Multiplayer is serious poverty. It's not 1/4th the Zenny, it's more like 1/10th, if that.
Real talk.I'm always furious with myself if I cart on a mission where I've used a voucher.
Thats because you need to 'break' kushal head 5 times and have to be below 20 to 25% health on the fifth 'break' or beyond in order to break his horns to get it. Its not rare but a bitch to achieve especially in multiplayer where the values are multiplied. Check out gaijin hunter on youtube on the droprates and you will see. Its almost the same for Teo except Teo is twice.Drop rates for horns+ (Vaal and Kushala, at least) really, really need a patch. Breaking the head doesn't even guarantee a horn in the rewards, which is ridiculous. Horn carves are incredibly rare, swear to Satan I've carved gems more often than horns. And even with investigations with gold and silver rewards, I still get throwaway parts like claws or tails (without even having cut the tail!) more often than the goddamn horns. And of course, you typically need like, 1 or 2 tails at the most for a weapon or armour set, but you typically need 5-6 horns for the same amount of loot...
Meanwhile, you don't cut the monster's tail, and still get tails, often more than one, in rewards? What?
Last night I farmed Kushala Daora for its horns (needed a whole bunch of 'em for the weapons I wanted). I had a nice Investigation with 2 players, 1 silver and 3 gold (!) rewards. One time I did break the head for sure, never touched the tail, yet I had 2 tails in rewards and 0 horns. Capcom plz. ;_;
Oh, the worst part? I had PartBreaker 3 and focused almost only on its head, as did my friend (since I told her to focus on the head too). In one of the hunts it flew away to sleep and we each dropped 2 bombs on its head while it slept. Head still didn't break. What...
Last week or so I had similar issues with Vaalhornsfangs. I wanted to make that dope-looking Vaal lance, but of course I needed like 6 fuckinghornsfangs. Breaking the head on Vaal was easier than on Kushala for some reason (even if it's harder to reach since you can't flash bomb it to ground it, have to get creative with stalactites etc.) but I'd still get like 1 measlyhornfang+ every 2-3 hunts. It's absurd and makes no sense.
I definitely have less luck with his gems than the other elders. Teostra and Nergigante in particular aren't cheap with their gems (for me).
As far as I know it's no different. Saves you having to worry about people in your session joining and messing you up or having to change the max players to 1, but that should be it.If you play offline does that alter anything? Like truly offline compared to just doing online session quests solo?
I imagine not but the game is full of stuff I know nothing about so wanted to ask. Cheers
Yeah that's kinda crazy fighting a monster that many times for a certain material, like I said before I haven't really had any problem farming so far, usually with investigations I'll have what I need after a few fights whether it's fangs or gems, most was like 10 with Vaal because yeah, was only getting one fang every couple hunts and I only needed 3 for the Mail, and just having a look I've fought Kushala 6 times including the optional quest and I've got 1 gem and 7 horns. I can't imagine having to fight the same monster that many times without getting what you need.

Got a tenderizer jewel from radobaan! I think it's my first decent jewel 80 hours in.
