Syd as a whole felt off. There was one scene were her walking was very clunky... don't know if that was intentional or not.

One of my favorite things about the show is that the actor who plays Cary is formerly Mr. Noodle from Elmo's world on Sesame Street.
I have a 2 year old so we watch a lot of Elmo and I've seen a lot of Bill Irwin as Mr. Noodle. He is fucking fantastic.

Watched episode 1 of season 1 and while it was pretty good the CGI was really questionable. Does it get better or at least permissible enough that I should watch the rest?

It doesn't get way better but it's at least less distracting than it was in the first episode.

The budget is noticeably higher in this season too. I kind of miss the Vancouver-esque setting, but I suppose that's what happens when they switch locations.

I thought the premiere was solid. Like the above poster I'm a sucker for weird for the sake of being weird and there was still plenty of that. The catatonic teeth-rattling is definitely creepy, so it's good to see it isn't losing the horror vibes. Syd is still crazy beautiful. They could have used better music in the dance number, though. Still love Ptonomy, and would like to see more of him. Maybe ran a bit long, but it was a premiere so I assume it will be back down to an hour-ish going forward.

Fun to watch, but there's still no there there.

The premiere was pretty good, and I was impressed that Hawley managed to find a way to throw us into the deep end of a whole new plot-in-progress, but I also felt like he was trying way too hard with the Admiral Fukuyama stuff - the wicker basket on the head, the women (robots?) with mustaches, the magnifying glasses covering their faces, the dozens of bare light bulbs dangling from the ceiling of his lair...it came across as a bit of a self parody to be honest (and maybe that was the intention, but it seemed to be played straight).

I also thought the dance sequence wasn't as technically impressive or artistically rewarding as the Bolero sequence, nor was it as surprising as that initial Bollywood number from the pilot.

This entire show has always screamed tryhard to me. It's a C+/B- show that people keep wildly overpraising. The second episode of Trust will probably be the best thing that FX airs this week.

Second episode of Trust was actually good? Or just "low bar" good? Haven't watched it yet but didn't care for the first so it's a low priority.

Whew, what an episode. Glad they threw us right in the deep end with the changes and time skip. The teeth chattering kinda reminded me of one of the hellraiser guys. Pretty unsettling.

So future Syd is a delusion right? Cause man if that was real...

Just watched the first episode and they dove head first straight into the trippy bizarre shit instead of building up to that. Not surprising considering everything that went down in season 1 and no show on TV is this visually captivating.

Having the female characters bitch about the male characters being the star of a show is kind of shitty when it's the writers who decided the show would be about the men. :p

Awesome start. I love how the show is like a Wes Anderson nightmare. It feels like so many things have to be imagined since they have no reason to exist, like the little boats delivering food.

Interested to find out more about this new place and the new leader(s). Seems like he could be one of the personalities even, if some of this is in David's head

The dance scene was not as good as those from the first scene, at least Cary is included though which is cool.

The ending with the glowing was amazing and probably my favorite part of the episode.

I was so confused... I watched and understood last season, but I forgot a lit of the small details.

Why was Oliver on ice?

Why was Oliver on ice?

From the Legion wiki:

Oliver was a telepath, and with this ability came access to the Astral Plane, which he took full advantage of by creating his very own kingdom of sorts. However, as time went on, Oliver spent increasingly more time there, resulting in his entrapment within that plane for twenty years [1].

When Oliver became trapped in the astral plane, his wife cryogenically froze his body. In the astral place he created a safe place which was a giant ice cube, a manifestation of his state in cryogenic stasis. As time went on in the Astral plane his memories and thoughts began to "drift" due to the lack of human contact.

That bugged me too. Also, I didn't like how Syd was all "You promised you wouldn't leave me! I have a right to feel bad about it!" when he was fucking kidnapped in a Pokeball. Like, maybe try to be a little more understanding? It's all well and good to lampshade the issue of female characters being placed into these hard-to-root-for-even-though-they're-in-the-right situations (ala Skyler White and Betty Draper), but at the same time, maybe don't write your female characters into those situations to begin with?

The only way Syd's behavior makes sense to me is if she's hiding something from him.

I mean, the situation with Syd is also a bit different in that she thinks that David is lying because he claims to have no memories of the past year. And he doesn't really help things with the kind of cavalier way he's going about that and being like "hey, you changed, I'm still the same".

Yeah, it's weird to lampshade something while also perpetuating the trope yourself. And a lot of writers seem to do this as a way to excuse their own writing.

Oh yeah, so what's the deal now with Syd's powers? Was she actually communicating telepathically while in the cat, or were we just hearing her thoughts?

I was wondering about that too, because Kerry definitely was responding to Syd when she was talking but the cat's mouth didn't move at all. Still not sure lol.

That...was definitely an episode of Legion.

Man Division 3 HQ is really dark. That can't make for an efficient work environment.

Also kind of bummed that David seemed to be fine with taking over the minds of his dancers. That's kind of shitty.

I don't think he did it intentionally. Probably just leakage from his powers dance fighting on the Astral Plane which is the reason Carey was dancing too.

I put it behind spoilers for those who haven't seen the episode, but here's a way clearer image of the Minotaur that flashes for a seocnd during the episode.

Crazy, I didn't even catch that.

A lot of the themes of the show hinted at being trapt... He's definitely still under someone's influence. I'm more curious with what's up with Syd and feeling off all ep.

The first episode was fantastic, I didn't think this show could get weirder.
The psychic dance battle wasn't as good as advertised but man the ending was spectacular from the part with future one armed Syd to David watching Syd sleep. The use of white rabbit was amazing, they should release a full version of their white rabbit mix on the soundtrack.

Also, did the glow stick thing also remind anyone of that VR drawing game? I was just thinking "well, technically that exists...)

Man, I really wonder what kidnapped David. It couldn't have been the Shadow King, as he was running away at the time. So what then?

Great premiere, I see FX still gave Noah some money cuz damn this is good looking show.

I'm with y'all on being bothered by the Syd/David lampshading. On one hand I find that their relationship can be earnest and very endearing in how sweet they are to eachother ("he's my man"), but on the other hand it bothers me how much of Syd is based around what David does and she seems to be way more into him than vice versa.

I hope she's written to be less David attached as the season progresses and they don't turn her into a nag about David being captured the whole time. She's a good character with a neat power set, just don't let her be a David accessory the entire time.

Didn't even notice Jon Hamm was narrating the show, would be bonkers as fuck if he is Xavier, canonical appearance be damned though I guess he's too close in age to the guy who plays David. I guess if they really wanted they could have him as a young Xavier/projection that interacts with David and save the old man Xavier for Stewart or whoever.

I figured that Xavier wouldn't be David's dad in the TV universe, and that his dad is actually Oliver. It's been my headcanon so long that I didn't realize they hadn't actually established it.

I meant to post about this earlier, but I lost my entire post. Anyhow, it's sort of evident that the team knows or at least has a feeling that David was 'active' for the past year. It's more that they're not sure whether they trust him having no memories of anything.

My personal theory is that
David, for the past year, has tracked down the Shadow King multiple times and that the teeth chattering is actually from David himself, as his madness is spreading as he unconsciously takes over people -- like with the dance... and that he actually remembers, but his other personalities/delusions are blocking access to those memories for some reason

Good premier. Felt slightly off, but with so many changes maybe it will feel less jarring to me when this season picks up a little steam.

The dance battle seemed inconclusive. Did Dave join them in the end? Lose? It looks like he time skipped from the orb to the club. And that's where they said they found him in Veruc's (sp?) company.

I didn't even notice that future Syd had one arm, but the implication is that she is a captive of something the obvious answer would be The Shadow King, but maybe something else.

I really hope there is an explanation for the moustache woman that makes sense other than aesthetics.

Getting a strong Twin Peaks vibe this season, clearly an influence from the recent series 3. Not complaining.
