I only have one investigation of his normal version left. (For some reason he almost exclusively turns up in Great Hunting investigations.) Within a minute of engaging him Bazelgeuse and Odogaron appeared to engange in a mêlée à trois. I just suddenly felt so very tired at that moment.

200 hours the ride is coming to an end. Looking forward to more content if/when they announce it. Best game Ive played in ages I think its a shame the weapon/armour doesnt really make a lot of difference though, as it would give a more meaningful grind to the end game. As it is Im left with HR grinding (pointless) and crowns (pointless), and having killed over 500 monsters I cant face fighting some of them again for a while. 10/10 game even with the lack of endgame.
How important is elderseal for taking on the tempered elders? I just built a charge blade set around the diablos cb and I'm wondering if I should get another set for the jho one.
If anyone has recommendations for a set for the jho cb that isn't too dependent on decorations I'd love to hear them. I think artillery isn't worth it for non impact phials right?

Tried the Azure Rathalos Arena quest. I completely understand why people hate it.
One thing I hate about this game is how it 'traps' you in animations. Even in the middle of a fight; you get poisoned and want to take an antidote. But no, first you must wait for the "you've been hit" animation to end and if you press the button a little bit too early it won't register at all and you stand around doing nothing.
Or that animation after you have carted. It's only a few seconds, but it's so infuriating to watch for some reason. I just want to apply my buffs again, why do I have to watch my character standing up painfully slow? What purpose does it serve?

I agree. None of my (hundreds) of deaths in dark souls felt like the games fault or the controls.
I must have easily double digit carts due to button presses randomly not registering or doing a different thing.
I've also missed tons of hits and things because of the weird delays and reliance on certain animations. It's not a hobby-grade fighting system...

I really do like bazel. He's a fun hunt. But he needs a new agent. He keeps getting type casted as the guy with no friends who comes over and annoys the hell out of you. You go into another room and he comes in 5 minutes later, like, 'hey guys, what are you doing? Nothing? That's cool.'

Is there a list of all of the event specific items that are out there? I want to make sure I get everything before the current festival ends.

Burst out laughing the other day in an SOS for an Azure Rahalos in the Ancient Forest. We slayed him near a bunch of Gajalaka and the instant everyone finished carving, with no prompting, everyone rushed the little fuckers and kicked their faces in. It was hilarious to see my own irritation at them being reflected by a bunch of random teammates so spontaneously.
Not true at all, like Bazel who helps you whenever he sees you having trouble with Jho, Gajalakas are your friends and I won't stop preaching.

3 Hero stones for Axes/Charge blades, 3 Hero for Lances/Gunlances, 2 Hero for Hammers, 2 Hero for Swords. 6 Warrior stones for Axes/Charge blades, 5 for Shaft/Bows, 2 for Bowguns and 1 for Lance, Sword and Hammer.
So 10 Hero stones and 16 warrior stones and I have been playing only for like 2 hours lol I switch between Gunlance (average clear time 8 to 12 minutes) and HBG Cluster build (average clear time 4 to 6 minutes) .

This is the sole reason that I like rations more than well-done steaks. It feels like it takes forever to eat a steak, whereas a ration is just pop-pop-done. I don't know if two rations are faster than one steak, but it feels like it.
Just fought Kush in the ancient forest. He goes up top and sleeps. I lay two bombs but my pod hits him and the bombs don't go off.
I'm running around trying to flash him onto the bombs. Finally get him down but i still have flashers still equipped. I don't think they set off bombs. So i missed again. Luckily, we run around for a 30 seconds. Lead him back to the spot and he swipes at me, hits the bombs and kills himself.

I just did my first tempered Kush, got to it sleeping last and started laying my bombs. As soon as the second one touched the ground someone else set them off, which both ended the hunt and legitimately scared me haha.
Last night, i brought 2 big barrel bombs, two large bombs and 8 regular bombs for the tempered kirin. Got 4 down and something set off the first little bomb. I was running solo and it was during my animation. Don't know what happened.
I hate kirin.
Holy fuck, how do I unlock that? Grind for a gajalaka gem? What's the drop rate on that?

I knooooow. Made two characters just for that, and actually completely abandoned my female character and playing exclusively with the male one. Depressing that I'm too alienated to play as my own gender, really.

I absolutely murdered a tempered monster because the gajalankas kept it in a constant state of sleep/paralysis
I call bs on the gajalakas. We were playing against tempered jho yesterday and they shocked me twice and then put me to sleep all in succession.
There is a Lynian Expert task when on expedition in the Elder's Recess that asks you to befriend Gajalakas.
After that they can join you (like other Lynians in other maps) in Elder's Recess.
I think that once your friendship level reaches 5 (not too sure about that) you can find helpful Gajalakas in other maps, both to join you or to help temporarily trap a monster (they don't trap it though, they do the barrage in the video).
In this case the barrage is better than lynian trapping because it works on elder dragons.
The normal unhelpful Gajalaka dicks will still be in their usual spots though. XD

You're always gonna want Weakness Exploit. Unless you do Crit Draw, but that's not as good anymore with the True Slash being a thing.
Other than that? Just stuff to increase damage. Attack, Crit Boost, etc.
Ehh, not sure. We just showed up and he normally doesn't start until i. I just assumed the game wanted to make i didn't use 13 bombs.

I'm only 27 hours in and I now I'm at the character creation again. Well at least I'm somewhat competent with dual blades now so I won't struggle so much with a new char. But yeah it's absurd how much nicer the male armor is. Though of course I still wish I could make a brown character that looked like me but I guess I'll deal with it since he'll be covered up anyway lol.

It is such a shame the festival set isn't good at all, I would love to use it at least with GS or something but making it work is a challenge.
The festival set is more of a novelty item, more like a memo from the festival to goof around ;)

Carted twice, the second time it was about 30 minutes into the fight and he oneshot me, so my heart was racing the whole time after that.
It's basically useless on everything but maybe Kirin, to be honest, and even a liability if you don't have Earplugs.
If your weapon has it, whatever, but you've probably noticed by comparing weapons that it effectively has zero value consideration when they're statting out the gear (ie, you don't "pay" for the Elderseal with lower damage or anything), and there's a reason for that. It's pretty much trash, and shouldn't seriously factor into any of your decisions.

First attempt at solo Jho during the spring event:

For weapons there's of course the Nergigante one, which is basically a great tree no matter the weapon. I personally like Pandemonium's Root better, though, due to the kickass design and access to white sharpness. Ragefire Magda Floga is another personal favorite of mine. Again, a great design combined with good damage and the blast damage is a nice bonus. Handicraft is also needed, since it only goes to green sharpness. It has a ton of that, though, and I haven't really missed the blue sharpness against non-tempered monsters. Just something to consider. Lastly, the Diablos hammer is there for an elementless jewel build.
For armor/skills there aren't a lot of skills the hammer specifically benefits from. Slugger is the only one that comes to mind. Evade Window might be worth it against harder hitting monsters, since evade roll will be your main form of defense. Aside from that you have the usual Attack Boost (dober chest), Agitator (Nergigante pieces*), Weakness Exploit (Dragonking Eyepatch), Protective Polish (Sharp Jewel)... you know the drill.
* Nergigante pieces also give Maximum Might, but avoid aiming for that skill specifically. You're constantly charging during a fight, which is a constant drain on your stamina, so you will hardly ever benefit from it.
The only monster I feel Elderseal has a noticeable effect against is Xeno'jiiva. Its energy blasts/explosions are far less common when you hit it with fast and high elderseal weapons like the Nergigante IG.
I completely understand that and heck even if it had only palico rally on each piece I wouldn't mind if at least it had some decoration slots but it's only a bunch of lvl 1, what do they want us to fill it with? Atk decos that don't exist?
Honestly, I think it would be a lot better if those extra sets were made for layered armor settings. Why would you make a Street Fighter set, that no one will use, cause it's a terrible low rank set? If it was made as a deluxe costume like Samurai I'm sure people would use it a lot. Same with the Festival set or even Queen Beetle set. It's almost like they doing this work for nothing.
Got a specific question and a more general one. I noticed during fighting deviljho that my defense stat was dropping a lot. I had 400 plus, and was taking an armour skin and hard shell powder... But during the fight the buff would dissappear and my defense would be down to 370.
Is that his roars? Will earplugs stop that happening?
More general question, what's a good/easy set and weapon for farming him. I don't mean dps but just survivability? Trued lbg, HBG, gl and struggled with all of them.

It's from his drool when he's exhausted. There will be a shield icon with a red arrow pointing down on it if you're afflicted. Eat an adamant seed to get rid of it.
