It's good to know that Carl's death meant something.

I fully went into this episode wishing for Eugene to die a gruesome, painful death.

Instead he did a vomit attack / gravel ninja escape move. And I can't even believe that they managed to make me hate him probably twice as much as I did before. Like, holy shit. His dialogue was destroying my brain.

Eugene's vomit-and-run routine was maybe the dumbest and most absurd thing they've done all season.

Why did Negan smash that walkie-talkie? It was your walkie, dude.

I don't think I have ever hated a show as much as I do Walking Dead at this point.
Surprising thing is that it manages to up the hatred each week.
I almost dropped it right when Negan let Simon live at first.

I could see throwing up mac and cheese sardines on someone a good escape diversion but the way it was shot made it look really goofy. There's no way Eugene should escape in that situation. For starters, why did Rosita let Eugene trail behind her...

Or how he quickly ran and got in nice stacked ash pile that blended in perfectly with all the others.

The same reason she just stands there covered in vomit as he runs away.

This episode was completely terrible, one of the worst of the season / show in general

The writing and dialogue continues to reach new lows... Carl's letter(s) was as cliche and uninspired as you could imagine. Everything with Eugene. Dragging out Simon's death which was obvious from the beginning of the episode, and having him fight Negan which felt out of his character. Aaron's corny ass dialogue and fainting. The only redeeming part of the episode was Dwight being exposed

Haha, I forgot about Aaron's scenes.. yeah, those were pretty fucking bad. I was dying when he woke up on the ground and surrounding him, giving them a "you have to fight speech!" and immediately passed out again. So bad. LOL

Just finished it

A better episode than any other one this season. The way Gregory was thrown to the floor was hilarious, albeit tough to believe, and the two double crossers were outed interestingly enough. You'd think they would've looked behind the dumpster.

Dwight trusting Gregory was funny as well, but I guess he didn't have any other option. I thought Gregory would've been killed outside for being a useless sack and conspiring against Negan. Then again, he joins up with anyone who he thinks will keep him alive another day or week. I'd forgotten about that blonde haired woman, but this show has had so many interchangeable and random extras and almost nameless/easy to forget characters. Especially this and last season.

That mac and cheese made me want to puke. I don't like it, and I especially don't like sardines. Just the look of it turned my stomach. The puke scene was unexpected and disgusting as well.

I like how they ended it with the letter reading. Hopefully this means that Negan's arc will come to an end in a week's time. Please let it be true. Though, if it does, the next season will just have Rick and company finding another group to go to war with, or a group that betrays them and has something to hide.

The way he passed out had me laughing. It was so cheesy and overly dramatic. I called it before it happened and it didn't disappoint. Bad acting.

Is this season any better then season 7 was?

I think there are more good episodes in season 8 than there are in season 7. That said, it's not that much better. Only after the second half of season 8 do some good episodes pop up. And when I say good episodes, I'm not talking "Ozymandias" or "The Suitcase" status. I'm talking "this is a good episode for The Walking Dead" status.

So...eh?

Simon's take on being a zombie made me chuckle. The actor kept biting over and over again, without a break in between bites, for the first 30 seconds or so. He eventually calmed down then did almost nothing.

I don't understand how that episode managed to be as boring as it was. The penultimate episode, meant to set up the finale, and nearly nothing happened until the very end.

And even then, I was completely disappointed in Simon's death. Two years of hating this guy and it felt so dragged out and anticlimactic.

Jesus.

I didn't think it was that bad. It was better than most of what came before it this season.

Then again, I'm a sucker for depth and dialogue.

So am I. This episode lacked both.

Carl's letter was read and Negan chose to ignore it, both of the traitors were outed and one was dealt with while the other's fate was teased, Eugene got away and changed his attitude...enough happened to give it more depth than most of this season. I'm not saying it was great, or that any of this has been. This show hasn't been particularly good for a while now.

Daryl: "Keep an eye on him."

Rosita: *immediately turns away from Eugene*

Eugene: *pulls a Eugene*

Fucking Eugene. >:(

I can't agree. Eugene is the same character he's been since he joined Negan. He simply gave a small speech where he sounded slightly more sure of himself.

Kidnapping him only to have him escape immediately after was a complete waste of time.

And Carl's letter crap has been dragged out the entire second half of the season. His death has been meaningless. We've seen Rick ignore it all season, we're now seeing Negan ignore it. Until next week, as obviously Rick will be allowing Negan to live, based on the flash forward we've seen.

We both also seemed to forget about the Aaron plot as well. Another pointless side plot that has derailed a character for episodes.

I'm just so damn frustrated with this thing.

You're tough to argue with. Remember that I never said any of this was particularly good, though. I'm just watching it because I've watched up until now, just like yourself.

Nonsense.

When a long-running show becomes as bad as The Walking Dead has, people who have watched it the whole time have the right to talk about how bad it is.

Part of it is to vent that something they loved became to bad. The part is out of hope that it returns to greatness.
Yup.

If this was the first season or something I'd be long gone by now most likely.
But I still like certain characters and it just makes it too hard to drop.

I remember being so damned hyped for this show. Loved season one and only thought it would get a lot better as it went on. Suffice to say I was disappointed as it went on.

Someone tell me again why they needed to kill Carl? Rick learned nothing, Negan learned nothing, his death changed no characters really, one of the most pointless deaths for what was arguably the most interesting character they had on the show to go forward with, instead completely wasted to prop up Rick, which they couldn't even bloody get right.

Eugene returns, no one even knew he was captured? They think he just stepped out for a bit? Did they not notice the two dead guys outside their front bloody door???

The whole vomit and run thing was so damn laughable, like how the hell did he manage to run away and Rosetta couldn't catch up to him, are you serious? Oh she has to stop and fight a zombie....WHY? She could have simply ran around/went over the top of the car and chased him.

This show continues to have some of the WORST writing of any mainstream show currently on tv. Why am I still watching it? I don't know...I kind of feel like I just have to stick with it after this long, kind of like the last season of Lost and how quickly it went downhill.

I liked Steven Ogg's explanation of what he was trying to go for that when his character (Simon) turned into a walker. In that it was almost acting like a rabid dog that sort of reflects Simon's nature when he was once alive. I feel like that should have been something done more often by now. Like, the bigger the asshole you were when you were alive, the more aggressive you are as the undead. That's straight out of a video game.

Then again, undead Shane kind of just walked like normal Shane as well.

We're going to end up in a situation where Rick, standing over Negan with Lucille, comes right to the point of murdering Negan and then has a ham-handed flashback to Carl's words and will be so moved by that memory that he will spare Negan. Negan, similarly, will be moved by Carl's memory and Rick's decision that he too will forever be changed.

Just watch.

What if this scene is also presented out of order? Maybe the episode opens with a closeup of Rick and Negan's eyes?

How was Carl the most interesting character on the show? Could you even think of one entertaining story or arc he had from the last 5 years? He was basically Dawn's babsitter and not much else.

It's weird to me that now that he's dead people decided Carl was some integral part of the show. He was young and he was related to Rick, beyond that he was a 2nd or 3rd string character.
