That fog doog looks much more ethereal instead of ugly like 360

Never played DS but heard plenty about Blighttown, can someone tell me why they framerate tanks here, graphically intense area or just lots going on?

Probably something technical like bad object culling. It's not particularly visually impressive. Although I guess since there's a lot of verticality in the area, it may be difficult to predict player direction, putting a strain on the game's asset loading pipeline. Just guessing.

Don't worry, Blighttown is still a miserable experience even with a working framerate.

It's funny that now the definitive unmodded version of this game is exclusive to a Nintendo console.

original PC w/ DSFix > Switch > original PC version > 360 version via BC on Xbone > PC/PS4/Xbone remasters > 360/PS3

Does this help Solaire's chances for Smash? :^3

There's more Blighttown footage now.

Yup, it's fixed :o

Bed souls!

This man is a hero. He even tried to get some Demon Ruins footage for us, but Queelag's lava definitely looks less bright which bodes well.

I assume the drop to 720p should keep handheld performance relatively the same.

The player unfortunately didn't race down to Blighttown but to my untrained eye I don't see any drops! Not even during the giant dust cloud Asylum Demon makes, walking through a fog door, or getting hit by a firebomb which all used to have noticeable drops.

Hey Era, is the DLC in Dark Souls good enough to double dip for portable souls?? I haven't played it. Is it as good as the Old Hunters DLC?

60fps makes up for any ugly artistic changes. Far, FAR from definitive.

Artorias of the Abyss is some of the best DLC, period. It's really fantastic from a lore perspective (and it does impact one scene in the game if you complete it before then), some great boss fights and a lot of cool equipment on hand. Plus, it's the best area for farming humanity by leaps and bounds, so it's great for PvE and PvP players alike.

I personally think it's better. Some may disagree and say Old Hunters edges it out, but I think generally everyone agrees that those two are among the best pieces of DLC ever made. The titular boss of Artorias of the Abyss is still to this day my favorite boss fight ever.

Plus, you simply must experience first-hand how unbelievably arcane and difficult it is to figure out how to access it. It's incredible a publisher like Bandai Namco allowed DLC to be published that when purchased gives you no in-game instruction on how to play it and requires you to work out a ludicrous random pattern of steps to get to it.

I don't know, have you SEEN the new bonfires? I mean Jesus Christ. I'd take them over 10 FPS Blighttown but not over much else.

I beg to differ. Solid framerate is what makes it definitive. 60fps might have been a boon, but that doesn't change the fact that they also altered particular gameplay aspects in those versions, too.

And what the hell is up with this?

Oh, and yeah, portability is a big plus.

It's been confirmed over and over that the brightness and gamma from the hands on event had to be turned the F up because of bad TV's they used and players couldn't see.

That doesn't explain all the direct feed footage showing the exact same thing. When they invited Vaati to a closed door event to make his footage they messed with the gamma levels? Sounds a lot like what we heard during the DaS2 release.

Something to do with Havel I suppose? (His ring)

Rusted Iron Ring my dog. Grab the key from the roof of Firelink and head back to the asylum, it's in the locked second floor room next to the fog door.

So wouldn't these TV's that had to have brightness turned up also affect the Switch videos? Or were they using different TV's? Sorry if a dumb question I just have no idea how stuff at conventions like this are setup or who sets them up.

All gameplay changes are common for all platforms...
