Did you run the 11.3 beta before installing the final version?

Bought an iPhone 8 cause I didn't think the X was worth another 400. Now I'm regretting it. The screen looked so nice and big... should I trade it back?

Whats a good ballistic shield ? I was using one I got on amazon since launch but now it seems to smear with finger prints a little to excessive.

Oh man, I was skeptical coming from a 7. I kept that on iOS10 and it still runs like a dream so I thought the X would barely be an improvement.

I was so wrong. After just an hour with the X I realised I couldn't go back, the 7 just feels so dated and the screen is beyond awful.

Couldn't be more glad I upgraded. Face ID sucks ass and Touch ID was far better but besides that the rest is great, even the notch hasn't annoyed me (yet). Swiping the bottom to change between apps is a true killer feature.

The 8 is the definitive "original" iPhone. There will be better iPhone Xs in the future—five months from now, in fact.

Interesting, things keep popping up with iMessages in the cloud for people. I saw someone on reddit say that when they deleted a convo on their phone it said something like this will delete the conversations on all of your devices. They were never on the beta either. If I delete one it just give a pop up saying it will be deleted. I like the inclusion of the pop up though, i have accidentally deleted some before.

I wonder if iMessages will come out before 11.4? Seems like something they could roll out server side.

Is there a way to re-trigger Face ID without leaving the lockscreen? When I just want to read a notification but Face ID fails to recognize me, I either put the phone into standby and try again, or I go to the homescreen by swiping up and then open the lockscreen again. Surely there's a better way.

You can force click one of the notifications, but no it's not ideal.

Either force touch a notification or, also doing a quick "raise to wake" motion will usually trigger it for me.

I hope they add a button press for this, but what I do is tilt the phone away and then back at my face. That makes FaceID re-check.

Not sure if you're aware, but when it fails and you enter your passcode, it adds that failed info to your FaceID profile and helps it get better at recognizing your face. So it's actually sometimes counter-productive to avoid the passcode.

So I think my X has screen burn :/

i noticed it when going to play Starman that apple were giving away free on the Apple Store app last night.
Its hard to photograph but it's much more noticeable in the flesh.
Trying to think what could have caused this, the only thing I can think of is Waze. When I use it the screen brightness is turned down to 40-50% or even lower to also help with battery.
Gonna live chat with Apple and see what they say.

Is there an IPhone 8 thread?

I went from a 7+ to an 8. Like it, but the 'halo effect' on the glass screen protector edges is driving me nuts. Thinking of returning it.

Does anyone know if the 8+ has the same problem? (Sorry X, but I want a home button)

I just bought an iPhone 8 Plus, is the X really that much better? I looked at it in the store and the screen didn't seem that amazing.

It does, I have that distortion around the edges of the screen protector on my 8+. It's kind of annoying.
Oh jeez! :/

My wife got an X and her screen protector the girl at Best Buy put on is perfect. I really want a home button, but idk if I can live with the bubbles. I'm sure I'll get dirt/lint/tobacco stuck under there within the week.

For the Touchid or the button itself?
Both. I like just being able to touch it to wake it up when it's laying on my desk. I also like the home button for use in general. I've messed around with the X, and I don't like all the changes with having to swipe down from the top corners, how you kill the apps, etc.

You can just touch the X anywhere on the screen to wake it up too
And while I understand people's reticence to changing familiar mechanics, once you've had time hands on with the X I honestly would expect most people to be fine with the changes (personally I think it's a positive move regardless of the physical space saving due to loss of home button)

You can touch the screen to "wake it up" but then you have to type in your passcode or pick it up and point it at yourself.

Touch ID lets me just touch it while it's laying flat off to the side and it goes all the way in to the home menu, not the lock screen.

Do any of you ever pick up an older iPhone and have to pause to remember how the home button even works? I have this happen with my wife's phone all the time. I'll pick it up and start swiping like wtf is wrong with this thing?

Every time!
The swiping gestures feel so natural to me. It takes a whole day to get used to and then it is better in almost every way.

Picked up my X on Friday and then bought the Evutec iPhone X Nylon case for it on Saturday. Bought it kind of on a whim, but it was actually a pretty nice case.

But then, I found a black Apple Leather case on Amazon for $25, so I decided to order that as well. Got here yesterday and....oh man, it's so much nicer. Thinner, feels better, and not having the case cover the bottom of the screen is really nice when you're using the phone. I'm a little worried about how much protection it will actually provide, but I've got insurance so we will see.

My GF has a iPhone 7 and I can't use it anymore. I'm swiping all over the place and nothing is happening.

Hell, I have trouble using my iPad Pro. Swiping up from the bottom opens the multitasker but ALSO the control center, it's chaos on my brain when I'm now using the iPhone X twice as much

I decided to get a X since I got $350 off the phone for adding a line. Face ID works better than expected. The camera is the best I've had and it should be for the price. I'm still trying to find a wallpaper that makes the screen stand out. Any recommendations would be great.

I got this recommendation from this very thread, so I take no credit for it. Try the "Vellum" app. I read about it here and have been using it, really great wallpapers.

About recommendations, what games to you guys play? I was really addicted to Meteorfall for a while.
